Roy feels like the kinda game that was made to make a statement first and foremost, it's praised highly for the first 2 months of it coming out purely for its concept and not its gameplay, every annoying Youtuber plays it, then it goes out of style immediately because it's kinda boring and a year old so later they found out i was stealing industry secrets from peoples' brains
You simultaneously feel like the game is over, while feeling like you should be doing more in it, while feeling like there's no way to do anything meaningful.
It really is anyone's guess where this show will be 5 years from now. Rick and Morty did the impossible by becoming super mainstream, so I can see the franchise still making money for Adult Swim via merch and apparel, but the show itself has become such an afterthought for a lot of its biggest fans. I don't get the sense anyone's DYING to see Season 8; they'll just be reminded that the show exists once the trailer drops, they'll tune in like always, and then they'll instantly forget about it again once the finale airs. Does Dan Harmon not notice how tired people are now?
>I don't get the sense anyone's DYING to see Season 8
Well yeah, and I'm not surprised. I've said it before and I'll say it again, how the frick can an audience be expected to invest in a show that solved all its plotlines but is still demanding to be continued? Nevermind that every story beat they create tends to get solved in a singular episode then handwaved forever. It was clever and meta maybe once, but it got really obvious by the second and third time around that the writers just didn't know what to do with their own shit. Fans of RnM are starting to learn that investment in the show just isn't worth the effort.
I hate this show because they still come up with some cool sci-fi ideas here and there, but it's rarely ever funny now. I kid you not when I say I find myself more entertained with new Simpsons and Family Guy these days
Yeah I barely laugh at it anymore myself, I think the fact the most I laughed at the recent episodes was Rise of the Numbericons and that should be a damning indictment in and of itself.
>wiener-A-DOODLE-TWO
It could be so easy to make this show concept work, but I think the present writers are so caught up in trying to be super intellectual and subversive that they forget it's a comedy and that they can chill out a little. The other problem is that Dan Harmon carries way more influence over the show now than back during those first three seasons; all the writers now are working under his thumb.

Agreed, I hate to say its gone full Reddit but it really has gone full Reddit. I hate how the show has gone back and forth so often on how it treats Rick too, jerking him off for years and making him this OP badass when it was popular, only to start calling him out and attempting to point out all his flaws and have him grow and change the minute people started to get tired of it. The latter just feels incongruent and hollow to me, like damage control.

Nah, Rick's characterization has felt pretty consistent these last couple seasons. He's slowly opening up to his family more and shedding his nihilistic "infinite Smiths" approach. It seems like the direction the show is heading in will make him appreciate the found family he has now and stop mourning over Diane so much. One problem I had up until the Omega Device reveal was that this show still tried to have stakes despite Rick's cloning backup program making the very idea of death no longer a threat. The writers still struggle with comedy, but the worldbuilding and soft-retcons have gotten me invested in the show just a little more now.
My ONE gripe with the character writing is how Beth and Summer feel stuck in place, like the writers can't figure out what to do with those two. I had the same fears with Morty being ignored, but the S7 finale calmed me down. The writers still respect him somewhat.

At least Futurama took roughly 100 episodes before going to shit, what's Rick and Morty's excuse?

They had an entire functioning industry behind them, which is now dead. R&M literally came out at the end of that lifespan. They didn't stand a chance.
>they come up with cool scifi ideas
Bro they just reference old scifi movies and shit. Its not new. Hell they had a twilight zone devil in the early seasons.
The fricking purge
An episode for sucking off cronenburg?
Its not new unless you're a zoomer that thinks reality was black and white like the old pictures
I liked the Episodes where the Dinosaurs came back to Earth and solved all of our problems and everyone was miserable without direction, challenge or strife because I can actually see that happening if we ever met a "enlightened" species for a bulk sum of us. Yeah it would be great at first but its either we create a Slaanesh or we go insane.
I think only israelites/arabs/britbong workaholic manipulative commie tyrants cannot ever be content with living in an utopia. It's a genes/brain thing. Just kill all the maniacs who feel the need to do "grand" things and mass-breed the actual happy content intellectual sheeple , not the redneck sheeple into being content with life.
I genuinely think the only people who would feel miserable are those who only consume content
personally I'd find more time for my hobbies or take up something like rock climbing or complex DIY projects
I used to make video games, but the pressure of making money off them killed off any interest in them.
I'm not religious but what do people think heaven would be like - it would be just as "boring" as this scenario right?
The Good Place had a version of heaven where all you're needs and wants were met and it was eventually torture because there was nothing new to do and you'd eventually be a zombie person waiting around for something new to do. I can somewhat relate because the last week or so of summer vacation was usually boring because I got most of what I wanted and could do done and was looking forward to school just to have something new to do.
but in a hypothetical utopian world - you could just go to school / class
Theres people out there who enjoy teaching, and others who enjoy learning. >The Good Place had a version of heaven where all you're needs and wants were met
I saw this and didn't they just keep everything the same, but just let you have a nice day once you were "finished", one of the main characters just learns and becomes the best at everything liike making chairs
seems good to me
Why thr frick do people go to the University first? Level up in Community College and you unlock more friends, more romance options, and a CV bonus if you take the Night Janitor job!
I mean, how would you know in the first place? Playing Roy, your memory of your life outside the game is gone and you're now a kid named Roy. You have to live an entire life of another person in real time until you die. Although if you're just as intelligent as Rick you can be self aware that you're playing a game.
Provided I could retain control like Rick, I'd probably go buck wild like he did. If I lost my sense of self like Morty, I'd likely just live an unassuming life.
When is season 8 coming
I need to know how morty is post-fear hole
Whats evil morty up to?
Will morty find out about all the pieces of him trapped in the roy game?
Will morty get his own homosexual episode with another cute boy?
Roy feels like the kinda game that was made to make a statement first and foremost, it's praised highly for the first 2 months of it coming out purely for its concept and not its gameplay, every annoying Youtuber plays it, then it goes out of style immediately because it's kinda boring and a year old so later they found out i was stealing industry secrets from peoples' brains
I have more fun with Ike
Made me genuinely kek
FRICK OFF
I don't get it
Fire Emblem joke
ROYS OUR BOY!
ROYS OUR GOY!
Haha I never noticed the meeseeks in the background there
I just hit level 41 today. You're here forever.
so anyways, how's that level?
You simultaneously feel like the game is over, while feeling like you should be doing more in it, while feeling like there's no way to do anything meaningful.
Rick and Morty season 2 was a special period, I miss it
if you ever feel bad about the state of the show, the contract ends in 2027.
I doubt this show will go on for 100 years anyways

After how boring the last season was, I don't blame them.
the most recent season was the best it's been since like season 4 minus the really shitty episode 1 and the crappy summer episode
You LIKED the pope episode?
Oh I didn't even watch that one lol I forgot that week
the whole joke of the show is gone so who cares
>Does Dan Harmon not notice how tired people are now?
Rib and morby still print money and pay his bills. Why stop?
Frick that sellout. Rick and Morty T-shirts can still sell even after the show's over. This shit does NOT need more than 10 seasons.
Evil Morty is so cool. Whenever he's not around, all the other characters should be asking, "Where's Evil Morty?"
>I don't get the sense anyone's DYING to see Season 8

No more Justin Roiland, nonny. Wanna know why? Because he crossed me!
good ass season premiere, you grow to appreciate it with time too
Agreed, especially given what we've gotten from the show since
I hate this show because they still come up with some cool sci-fi ideas here and there, but it's rarely ever funny now. I kid you not when I say I find myself more entertained with new Simpsons and Family Guy these days

The Numbericons episode was trash though. One of the worst in the show's history.
You didnt like it because you're racist

It would be like that book Brave New World.
I might need to rewatch that one, I remember being a little bored by it. Nick Rutherford is the worst

I could speed run it
just make sure not to waste your 20's on that japanese cartoons forum
>Not taking Roy to blitz and chips just so you can find out if you can see yourself playing the game
Shhh don't spoil season 10
Do you think any Roy players get aborted?
Miscarriage, so I can get the speedrun world record
I'd knock. Immortality, over and over.
