Did there really need to be an investigation as to if he pulled the trigger? Did he really claim to have not done so?

      >Did he really claim to have not done so?
yes, he said the gun went off by accident

        Anonymous

Really ? I thought he pulled the trigger assuming it was a fake gun

          Anonymous

Nah, he said he let go of the hammer and the gun went off by itself.
FBI reports concluded that’s just not possible with his gun model. The trigger had to have been pulled for it to fire

            Anonymous

he likely was already holding the trigger and pulled the hammer back, which automatically releases it

But why lie? If the gun went off by accident, it was an accident. He was provided what he assumed was a prop gun, and used it accordingly. Isn't it the fault and responsibility of the prop people? Trying to distance yourself from an accident just makes you look unnecessarily suspicious. Michael Massee didn't go to jail for shooting Brandon Lee

Bad. Even if the armorer was responsible for not checking the gun properly before handing it off, Baldwin is still a producer who flaked out on hiring competent crew members after so many quit because of poor scheduling and conditions (i.e. nearby hotels so the crew doesn't have to commute after an 18 hour workday)

Producer of the film. He'll be investigated for the conditions he created to allow it to happen.

This. I never gave a frick to start with so that's probably why I didn't know he said he didn't pull the trigger, but that's the point. Most people don't give a frick about this because why would they? This is the same thing that happened to Brandon Lee, except it WASN'T the important person that got killed so who gives a frick. The only people that still care about this are gays that have an irrational hatred of Alec Baldwin. He will never even know you exist so why waste your time hating him?

Even if the argument is that the set armorer is at fault, Alec is the producer of the entire thing and is liable for damages because of that.

So basically even if he deflects blame onto the armorer, he's still liable.

        Anonymous

The fact is, the armorer was not even on set that day. She was not working. So Alec had some other assistant bring the guns to him, who didn't know anything about it, then never checked them himself. He's fully responsible for every aspect of it. Whether the dumb thot armorer had left loaded guns sitting around barely even matters at that point because the depth of the negligence extends beyond her.

          Anonymous

Either way Alec is responsible for hiring and any bullshit these jabronis working for him criminally do.

      Anonymous

They weren't supposed to have live rounds, just fake ones to make a pop or none at all with the armorer just checking the gun to make sure it's unloaded for legal purposes.

That's one of the things that's pinning Baldwin as liable, as they're saying he would've had to sneak real bullets onto the set and load the gun when no one was looking and intentionally shot her. The movie company is trying to say the company that sent them the gear must've accidentally sent real bullets or a gun that was already loaded and the armorer just didn't check it to be sure, which she's denying.

The reason they use real guns is because of capitalism causing prop guns to be more expensive than real guns and also have no re-sale value, whereas you can buy a real gun for less than a prop gun, then turn around and resell it after filming the movie and make most of your money back, making the overall cost for using the gun almost nothing.

        Anonymous

Prop guns aren't more expensive than real guns you dipshit, prop means property. If a gun is used in a theatrical performance, whether it's a CZ straight from the factory or a block of wood someone whittled into the vague shape of an AR-15, it's still a prop gun

He always was but the consistently worthless FBI is wrong here. The trigger just moves the hammer. The hammer fires the bullet. Baldwin's nobsense alibi that he "only moved the hammer" and "never touched the trigger" is mechanically ignorant nonsense. Not only can you fire that sort of handgun with just the hammer, but that's faster and more efficient.

She's a woman with a dad who has been a pro armorer on tons of movies over the last 30 years, including Tombstone, L.A. Confidential, Blade, Behind Enemy Lines, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Flags of Our Fathers, Grindhouse, 3:10 to Yuma, Django Unchained, Once Upon a Time... In Hollywood, etc.

It's not even unthinkable that her dad pulled some Hollywood strings to get her off by blaming it on the production team instead of her.

You don't think Alec Baldwin is a more powerful figure in Hollywood than some armorer?

          Anonymous

Of course, but it's infinitely easier for "investigations" to just blame it broadly on a whole production, thus no one actually gets pinned for anything, rather than singling out any one person.

          Anonymous

That's really more of a toss up. The armorers will work on more movies in more integral roles than Baldwin over all, plus shrines it comes down to the favor game. You have to scratch someone's back to be owed a favor, and someone like Baldwin will have probably called in a lot of favors he was owed already to get access to this private jet or that fancy restaurant/villa, whereas an armorer whose racked up years of brownie points and stayed in their lane finally calling in some favors.

I know a guy who worked in SFX for 20 years and never called in any of his favors, then when he came up with his own movie idea was able to call them all in and get it greenlit with him as the director. It almost got a big budget release through the Weinstein company before Me too, but he wanted him to change the story too much so it ended up getting bumped down to an IFC release.

Not true at all. Guns are subject to the same rules as airplanes. The pilot in command is responsible for making sure everything is working and safe before taking off, whether they own the plane or not. The owner/operator is not responsible for the user failing to do a thorough pre-flight if it ends up crashing, it's entirely on the pilot even if what went wrong is something that the owner should have had fixed by a mechanic.

Alec Baldwin is responsible for not thoroughly and carefully checking the gun he was handed before playing around with it. It was his mistake and his fault, not the armorer's. She was an idiot for leaving it loaded, but she never pulled the trigger, he did.

safety issues had already been raised to the producer (alec baldwin) and he chose to ignore them. They literally had strikebreakers working there because half of the production crew had walked off.
          Also this:

The armorer covered her ass by having all her paperwork in order saying that she never had any love ammunition in her inventory and properly inspected every firearm, and wasn't on set that day, and also has numerous other experts in the field vouching for her skill and character, which is why Baldwin flip flopped his story and started focusing on the gun "just went off and must have been a factory defect."

So how the frick did this happen? Did someone just pull their daily carry out the holster and passed it to Baldwin or what? How the frick does a prop gun even get into contact with live ammunition? Are those guns not the property of the studio with all the other props and you know, they just don’t buy actual ammo for them?
The prop handler/arnourer/whatever should get their asses torn wide open for this.

The armorer had taken the guns out previously to a firing range and let off some live rounds. I guess she just forgot to unload this one, because she's criminally negligent at her job.

From what I heard, it wasn't her that was taking the guns out, just other crew members from the set. Still would be her responsibility to lock the guns up when not in use for the movie though.

Even though he believed the rounds in the gun were inert there was not justifiable reason why he should have been pointing the gun at a group of people and pulling the trigger.

On an entirely different level than the rest. Truly acted like they were Gods and everybody else was a POS who should be bowing in their presence. Who surprised me? I thought Billy Crystal and Anna Kendrick would be nice. They were not. Nicest? Hands down, Robin Williams. Treated everybody like GOLD. Friendliest person I’ve ever met.
