While it doesn't seem to be the worst managed IP Hasbro has, I haven't been excited by any of TF media since Bumblebee. Can't get into Earthspark, and nothing I've heard about RotB makes me want to see it...

>Bumblebee
I miss her so much . . .
It's over bros, they're shoving LGBTQ+ groomer shit down children's new throats with the new cartoon.
And only care about pandering to Geewunners, which as a zoomer I have no nostalgia to.
>And only care about pandering to Geewunners, which as a zoomer I have no nostalgia to.
We need a new Unicron trilogy, with fresh new casts, even if most of them are nameslaps. Anything to break from the endless G1 pandering.
I complain about Geewunners because I didn't mind, Hasbro reusing the same characters.
It's just characters are barely redesigned anymore, they all look like they're copied directly from G1 model sheets. I mean compare Starscream from the Unicron trilogy, to Animated, to Bayverse, to Prime, recognisably Starscream but looks like a new character.
>Bayverse, to Prime
>recognisably Starscream
Ehhh . . . .
>And only care about pandering to Geewunners
You haven't been following the recent toyline, have you? Not to mention all the Beast Wars stuff.
You might've wanted to scrub the Prime characters from this considering he self-admitted to fricking them up for the sake of consistency with G1 characters
So I'm not the only who felt some toys were "G1'd". Prime Bulkhead was done particularly dirty.
That was the point, they’re done in the Classics style like Animated lockdown and Lugnut got back in 2010
Arcee and Bulkhead are shit but Skyquake is actually good and keeps the Prime aesthetic
Plus they said they might start doing cartoons in Studio Series.
Hasbro sent me a free Knock Out to make up for another figure missing its accessories and he's alright, but I'd much rather have my favorite Prime character look like he actually does in the show.
as a beast wars gay, im happy. toys are ok
new cartoon looks like shit and filled with troony porpaganda but every cartoon since Prime has sucked so its nothing new outside troony shit
RID15 was good.
The bad:
>Hasbro did not get what made Bumblebee good
>Netflix Cybertron series was boring as frick
>RotB was designed by comitee and mediocre at best (better than all Bay movies other than 1, but nothing amazing)
>Cyberverse, despite being quite good, got ZERO effort in marketing and advertising
>Earthspark has buried a few good ideas it had (Optimus dad is back!) in awful execution
>shared universe (G.I.Joe) pushed everywhere
The good:
>Siege, Earthrise and Kingdom toys were good to fantastic, RotB is solid with some great figures and Legacy is an amazing line, a true "the best of"
>Haslab produces wonders
>the Image comic may be cool
At this point the toys save the brand.
>Siege, Earthrise and Kingdom toys were good to fantastic, RotB is solid with some great figures and Legacy is an amazing line, a true "the best of"
Except for the brittle clear plastic and yellowing problems.
So the same things every toy had to deal with since forever?
It's particularly bad right now, with things degrading much, much faster than usual.
I keep hearing about that, but my Siege (or newer) toys show no signs of yellowing nor extra brittleness. How many years do I have to wait to see it happen?
Maybe some collectors shouldn't keep their toys on a strongly illuminated display.
>Bumblebee good
Bumblebee was mediocre, all people care about are the Cybertron scenes and thinking Hailee Seinfeld is cute
It was only good live action transformers movie
This. I heard more about her and that she's some super cool and cute rocker girl than I did about anything else in that movie. People wanting Shatter to crush them to death sexually was second, the movie wasn't that good.
No dummy, the Catholic Church.
So the GAY men pretended to be priests to have access to little boys and you think thats a condemnation of the church and not that GAY men will lie about anything just to get the chance to molest children?
If they were condemned by the church and not sneakily tolerated, there wouldn't be an issue.
Its not in a great place. The current cartoon is trash and has political bullshit in it (no matter what side you're on, that shit just causes conflict and distracts from robots fighting each other). There are currently zero comics being published and the movie seems to be teetering on flop territory. It will be at least a year before we have anything to look forward to when the comic re-launches and another couple of years before Earthspark dies and something takes its place. Because of its mishandling, I have zero faith in the upcoming animated movie.
Everything is pretty shit right now. Hoping Skybound comics breathe some life into it.
ROTB is basically a TFP episode extended to an hour and a half.
> ROTB is basically a TFP episode extended to an hour and a half.
So it's mediocre at best and wastes plenty of interesting characters and concepts, got it.
You are exactly right.
Depends on how you define healthy. The Asian fandom is as cool and talented as ever and I see less infighting than years ago but think that the overall hype has died down a bit the last years. Many of the fans and artists seem to be slower right now or on hiatus. I guess it will get more active once the new comic series starts.
Franchise itself was on a low but is getting more exciting again. Whether you like them or not we have the new movie, another movie about the origins in the future, soon even new comics and a new continuity, we have Earthspark still airing and an upcoming big budget game plus the constant influx of new toys and this time even toys that MtmtE gays enjoy. I would have never dreamt of Sen. Shockwave to ever get a toy. And the toy guy said he was interested making other fan favorites like Pharma as well.
Doesn't look bad IMO. Though I wish that Earthspark aired weekly instead and I hope that the comics will be good.
>The Asian fandom is as cool and talented as ever and I see less infighting than years ago but think that the overall hype has died down a bit the last years.
I wonder if Asian fans are plagued by fujos as bad as the Western fandom.
Asians have even more fujos than the west. But they make great looking shit.
And, as far as I know, they're nowhere near as obnoxious as some of ours.
The majority of fujos I know aren't even annoying, I noticed it's mostly a certain subtype that sucks. Won't mention it here for reasons. Basically there is an easy way to avoid annoying shitters if you look at their bio or the posts they make or retweet. Strangely it's almost always the bad or not-so-good artists that stir up shit and try to cancel other artists.
I've seen anti-shippers get lumped in with Fujos, which is weird to me because that's the exact opposite reputation I've always known them for.
Yeah fujos ship on principle. Otherwise it would just be female fans or maybe husbando fans.
To be clear when I say anti-shippers I don't mean against shipping. I mean the move of some fans who get into fights over which ship is most moral, which is pretty far from fujo's who have, or had, a reputation for romantising things deemed toxic. Think the whole Killing Stalking stir a while ago.
If they're against X ship because it's Abuse, they're not a fujo.
I learned something I guess. I always wondered why some called themselves anti-shippers and posted ships then. Actually surprised nobody ever called me out on shit yet. Maybe the shit I draw is too ambiguous or the characters too shit. I think the people that claim to be this usually latch onto boring good characters, which explains the healthy shipping part you talked about.
Remember seeing some Japanese warning post about them making the rounds.
In the anglosphere I'm pretty sure it was born out of tagging systems which led to people tagging their posts Anti-Shipname, then finding others posters and building a community around it. Eventually the communities of specific Anti-X fans merged into one large label that people used to identify that they where against shipping any ships (or supporting characters) that could be called problematic. Though what actually qualified tended to be vauge.
In turn a bunch of people who liked "problematic" ships and characters started using Pro-X tags to protest bashing which in turn led to the formation of a Pro-Shipping community. However at the point your idenitifying with ideological lines around shipping in kids cartoons its a bit of a lost cause on all sides.
Fujos aren't above drama at all, but Fujoshi means Rotten Girl, so not caring about the respectability of your interests is built into the label.
Cautiously optimistic about the new comic series. We know Kirkman is a fan and DWJ will probably ace the art.
Not a fan of the art of Void Rivals though. Or maybe it's the coloring not sure, but the pages I have seen didn't make it look very interesting (setting and designs are fine).
DWJ isn't doing Void Rivals, only the 1:100 cover. Rumors are he's been working on the TF book.
How long till it's buyable? Cannot use comixology and the likes anymore since not american, do the digital issues appear in the mornings of the release day? Is there are concrete ETA?
It's out this Wednesday, someone will probably storytime it.
See
Will be out on Wednesday let's hope for the best.
Was meant as reply to this
of course.
I saw rise of the beasts with my transformers fan buddy yesterday, he said it was a disappointing 5/10 but still better than bayformers
> Hasbro base all their new media off G1, but they are too scared to give Rodimus and the post-movie statu quo a second chance
Cowards
I saw a tweet in which Kirkman claimed that Rodimus was his favorite TF. I think the chance of him appearing and being relevant again are high.
For real? That makes me hype. I always wonder why people are so fricking afraid to use Rodimus.
>I always wonder why people are so fricking afraid to use Rodimus.
Because you can't have Rodimus Prime unless you actually commit to taking Optimus out of the picture, and he's basically the face of Transformers, so there's a general reluctance to ever let the story progress that far again. The same reason why we got IDW trying to make Galvatron into a separate character to Megatron rather than progress the story to a point where there's no character named Megatron.
Also don't underestimate the number of oldgays still seething about the idea of anyone ever replacing Optimus, getting to work on Transformers fiction and 'punishing' Hot Rod or Ultra Magnus.
Why? Cyberverse had Hot Rod too beside Optimus still being there. IDW also had series focused on both. Unless you absolutely need him as Prime.
You can have Hot Rod and Optimus at the same time, but not Rodimus Prime and Optimus Prime. The closest you get is IDW1 just having Hot Rod start calling himself Rodimus, with no 'Prime'.
And most iterations of Transformers after G1 work with a smaller cast, and the 'young, headstrong Autobot' role is always going to get given to Bumblebee now, even though he originally filled a different kind of young character archetype.
The modern fandom, the Under 25s, are really fricking gay. It’s fricking bizarre. Like every young TF fan I see online is some troony or butch ass dyke. It’s so weird because I remember when the fans were mostly skinny fat nerds,a few fat shorts wearing nerds, and the occasional Gen X dude bro
Well, RotB was number one.
So thats cool.
>It's not just Transformers failing
Isn't the new movie making a lot of money despite not even being very good? Considering that they did two specials for CV after the series had already ended doesn't make it seem like it was doing that bad for a series with almost zero advertising. WfC was probably an actual fail though, but the audience cannot really be blamed for this.
There's nothing healthy about a community that disowns the fricking JaAm comic.
> It is a joke that has not aged well at all, and looks worse as time goes on
I recall the comic having any racial slur in it. I was told one of the mods of tfwiki was obsessed with the meme and I get the joke tired out, but there's no reason to revile it.
Transformers has survived the transition to the modern day remarkably well compared to other Cinemaphile franchises. All the cartoons from the 90s that're still ongoing have jumped the shark, Marvel and DC comics are in the shitter and look at the state of poor He-Man.
Meanwhile Transformers just had a fun (I won't say remarkable, but fun) new movie released and we're getting an all new comic continuity soon from trustworthy people.
I think Transformers is doing just fine.
>trustworthy people
What the news on who's writing it?
We have no idea. People just assume Kirkman.
So is Void Rivals a mini series?
Maybe. We know the actual TFand Joe books start in October, its possible Void Rivals is just a mini setting things up.
Life support.
That's not what life support looks like.
So has there been any news on a post-IDW Transformers relaunch?
Yes, just the other day, Robert Kirkman will be heading the reboot in Image's Skybound, and it'll once again be a shared universe with G.I. Joe.
Read the fricking thread, jesus christ
Eat my fricking dick.
