Funny how this doesn't happen to Beth right? Jerry being this punching bag for everyone of imperfections as well as not fitting his gender role in the family. Yet Beth can move and flow as she pleases and when she fricks up she is still some how better than Jerry on some nonsensical social ladder in this family.
Are any of these characters ACTUALLY related to each other? Every time I watch this show, it feels more like they are honestly strangers than family.

I did like how Jerry was proven right here. Jerry with Ricks brain stable, tries to fix things, only killed because Rick is Inspector Gadget. Rick with Jerry's brain, immediate suicide.

Jerry has his problems but he's not that bad of a guy. It's mostly that Rick in earlier seasons was actively sabotaging him and poisoning the family against him. He only looks like a buffoon next to Rick because Rick is a super genius. He's a bit cowardly but otherwise pretty average and even that is mostly because of just how insane things get with Rick around. Most people probably wouldn't handle their lives getting interrupted all the time by "high concept sci-fi rigmarole" either.
Even the conflict between Beth and Jerry that led to their divorce was a result of Rick being around and Jerry wanting him out. Absent Rick they're a pretty normal family.

Rick is an abusive drunk who has ruined shit for his family regularly. Jerry may be dumb but he's also activley being pulled down by not just Rick, but also Beth putting him down due to her issues with Rick.
Remember the whole reason Rick turned himself in is because Jerry was the only one thinking about the rest of them and pointing out how much they keep sacrificing.
Jerry doing a lot better when he doesn't have a drunk bringing random people into his house and making a mess of shit constantly shouldn't be a shock.
