If you want to get super obsessed about something for a month and then won’t want to think about it again until 2 halloweens from now, I suggest hellraiser
Stop after 4. Recent reboot is optional as it is the first good Hellraiser movie since 4, and the first one to have a real theatrical production since 4. Everything in-between were cheap dtv cashgrabs.
Or in some cases literally weren't Hellraiser films but instead were unrelated scripts that got Hellraiser stuff shoehorned into them so they could be grist for the cenobite mill.
The first two are good, the 3rd is corny but entertaining, and the reboot is good if you can stick out the first 45 minutes of the bumbling idiot main characters accidentally stabbing each other with the puzzle box and killing themselves.
It works when it's about sex, which it is in the beginning, but as it gets into world-building it gets dumb as hell, and then Huluraiser tries to make it an addiction metaphor which doesn't work at all.
The main theme of the first movie is BDSM going to it's ultimate extreme.
I think people are projecting. Frank might be seeking sex but its not like the cenobites try to frick him
The first movie is about a married woman whose affair partner lover is a literal monster in the house, that she feeds by going out to bars picking up men looking for casual sex.
Then the lover kills the husband and takes his place, makes sexual advances to the stepdaughter of the married woman, you know, the daughter of the guy whose skin he's wearing like a suit. He gets rejected, so decides to destroy her, but instead kills and absorbs the stepmom he had an affair with, and then is taken fully by the Cenobites.
How is that not about sex? It isn't subtle at all. Pinhead even says at one point that they're explorers seeking carnal pleasure who lost the ability to tell pain from pleasure.
He'll raise is the franchise that us irritatingly bad. It's relatively easy to give people what they want and they pumped out garbage only tangibly related to the films
Hea an awful writer but so is every other major name specifically in horror honestly.
>Doug Bradley refuses to reprise the role of Pinhead
That's how bad it is.
The first 2 suck no matter how much the Fanbase shill it. 5, 8 and the end of 6 are kino
worst take i've ever seen, take a lap
>1&2 are good because.....THEY JUST ARE OKAY?! THEY MADE MY PEEPEE HARD!!!
T. Rob zombie

1, 3 and 5 are the best ones.
How the frick can you say that and not mention 2
Only the first two were actually good. The rest were barely even Hellraiser films.

The Cenobites had genital mutilation.

>seeking carnal pleasure who lost the ability to tell pain from pleasure
What did deviant homosexual Clive Barker mean by this?
1 and 2 are good.
3 is a simplistic slasher movie with some cool scenes and effects. Inferior, but still fun.
Haven't seen the rest.
>read hellbound heart expecting cenobite lore
>they barely show up at the start and end
>rest of the novel is a hallmark channel halloween special
Uhhh... clivebarkerbros??

Doesn't the deeper Cenobite lore come in his other books?
>this was a 10/10 in the 80s
Still is.
The Box...
I came.
Not good after the 2nd one. Shocking that there were like 11 of these in total, almost all direct-to-DVD.
