there's only like 2 dozens of male actors, most being 50+, and almost all Japanese females have already been filmed (more or less willingly) regardless of their age
and since they don't want to import more exotic actors, while the youth prefer pedo-like content, the jav industry is doomed

This. The rapid evolution of AI across the past several years strongly affirms this: as dramatically as the visual quality has improved, the ability to construct an internally consistent logical universe has remained static at zero. You can call this "soul", but that isn't even necessary for the argument. The machinery has only been designed from the start to present a facade. That's what they do. They aren't going to spontaneously start doing anything else but that. The facades do get a lot nicer over time, though.

if AI can make better films and better music than humans can, how is this a bad thing?
it only means better, cheaper, and more varied products for the consumer.
Perhaps in a couple decades I'll be able to watch thousands of different AI interpretations of live action berserk, with full voice acting, music, and no censorship. Hollywood could never.
And if it means thousands of nepotists kvetch over it then it's even better. This is exactly what the industry deserves.

Well art has long been one of the most vital means of expressions for people, and the process in great art is as important as the results.
Of course if you just want slop that is better than the current shitty slop then it's fine. I guess it will be able to generate something that would imitate actual art too, but I think something will always be missing. Or maybe not. I guess actually doing things is obsolete, the focus of the future is only the mind itself.

it's not as if people will be banned from making art
if you make art for its own sake because you enjoy it, this won't affect you any more than digital art programs, the film industry, music industry, etc., already do.

            Anonymous

Well some art requires a lot of money to produce. Hollywood overinflates it's budgets, but some films really do often need at least several millions to produce. Ambitious large scale art will probably not get funding and might itself have to resort to using AI.

As someone who has basically destroyed my life over the last 1.5 years prompting well over 100,000 AI images, I find it really sad how much "soul" has disappeared with the models getting focused on photorealism. I have so many cool gens from Midjourney v2 v3 where the AI didn't really know what I was asking for so just generated weird images that didn't follow any logic, but now doing the same prompt with V5 or V6 just makes very good looking generic images that look like real life.
I think i'd rather watch an AI movie from a specific trained model than an AI movie from a realism model.

I honestly can think of a single positive, worldly reason why AI videos need to exist. This technology brings literally nothing but negative consequences. Deepfake hoaxes, pornography, blackmail, creative destruction, laziness, loss of craftsmanship, erosion of public trust. AI pictures and audio can be useful, but this? Not a single good thing outside of individual pleasure which is meaningless. And yet we are expected to applaud whenever corporations make breakthroughs like this in AI because heckin' epic science will save the world of course and we don't need art or philosophy or human compassion or religion anymore

consider AI as a tool like Photoshop and other computer software (for 3D, videos etc): it can potentially makes boring repetitive stuff much easier and quicker (ex. in-between images for animes/cartoons; mockups and storyboards; promotional arts; background images)
like Photoshop isn't just use for correcting professional photos or creating entire 2D images: there's a very wide spectrum of usages and techniques that increased the productivity of artists (who had to adapt or perish or find a niche style impossible to imitate)

        Anonymous

Yes, the point being that AI only replicates the mundane stuff that does not actually make a real artist an artist, i.e. a meaningful communication of a thought, because computers (contrary to the claims of I FRICKING LOVE SCIENCE redditors) can't think and are nothing like human minds.

Most good scripts/novels today can't get funding because they aren't diverse enough or don't push a very specific liberal worldview. AI will open the door for artists to once again create art that doesn't cater to the Democrat establishment.

They have already neutered it and it will be much worse once they fully monetize it

If I could donate a portion of my paycheck to openai every week to hasten the advancement of AI, I would do it. That's how bad I want to opt out of israeli owned media. Like what OpenAI is creating is beyond just a mere product, it's a moral good, a potential future method for independents and hobbyist to create their own video games, comics, cartoons, tv shows, and movies at trivial costs. AI robot gfs, non israelite media, no need to work, and full dive vr simulations to live out any fantasy you want. Star trek can become reality.

That accurately describes these videos (and series of AI still images): they can't extrapolate a consistent internal story. The fact that the visual clarity is so much higher means little when visual quality has never been an indicator of a good story, abstract simplified art styles with good narratives have always dominated beautiful imagery with nonsensical/broken logic.

This whole approach is completely backwards with respect to our psychology: we don't see the world as a collection of objective building blocks and then construct the story, we literally *see the story* and then infer the blocks. AI attempts to create an illusion of story through the perpetual refinement of ever more polished blocks, but it still lacks the fundamental intelligence and awareness to perceive and communicate any logically consistent meaning beyond happenstance.

This is just a ML program that turns text into video. The logic side of things is the chatbots. When combined (as we are currently seeing with text to image) it has the logic you are complaining is missing, if it does anything wrong you can just ask it to correct that part.

        >no one is saying that AI is going to independently create works of art.
Literally dozens of shills have spent this entire thread claiming that in just two years or less anyone will be able to type a one sentence prompt into a textbox and an AI will instantly generate a seamlessly realistic, fully functional movie with a completely coherent story, dialogue and visuals that will be not just equal to, but somehow superior to any movie actual writers, actors and directors can make.

            No, it won't.
2 straight years of so called improvement and still none of this crap can successfully make a realistic looking human hand, but you expect anyone to believe that just a few more years from now it'll be flawlessly replicating multiple human beings at once in seamlessly realistic environments, consistently rendering all of them looking the same way throughout and entire two hour movie, while also telling a compelling and sensible story with convincing synthetic dialogue, and say anyone who doesn't 100% believe this it's just a Luddite?

You're moronic. Just goes to show AIgays have literally no mental ability to grasp just how many tiny intricate details go into a movie.

It's not about visual details, it's the fact that are is a process of intellect and composition. Like I said here

AIgays think AI can create something like War and Peace and have as much of an impact. completely delusional. photography might have replaced painting but no photograph has been as profound as the sistine chapel

War and Peace can't be replicated because the book comes from a massively creative mind and is littered with nonfiction philosophical essays in the middle of the story. That cannot be repeated by an AI. You need a real human mind to capture that level of depth and diversity and creativity. AI movies will only be worthwhile if you want mindless bullshit like mainstream Hollywood, otherwise the rest of the industry will move on as usual

Why do you think we're going to put the ai in the directors chair and press a make movie button, humans are going to use this as a creative tool. It doesn't matter that the ai can't create by itself, neither can the paintbrush.

multimodal models will combine story generation with video generation as well as audio generation. All you need then is consistency of characters and bam you've got a movie.

        Anonymous

        >All you need then is consistency of characters
How many years? I haven't seen a single model that can generate the exact same character twice. There is no perception of the minute details that make a character a character, and every little facet and fragment of their design, clothing, accoutrements, scenery, etc. Only broad observational patterns, like "red hair" or "visible nipple" or "apartment interior". In order to have consistency the machinery needs to recognize that a THING is a THING, and not any other thing. They're not programmed to do that. They simply present a high probably match for a given simple request by breaking it down into arbitrary subcomponents, not one of which it understands (or is designed to understand) as a discrete "thing".

AIgays are soulless automatons themselves in a lot of ways.
They watch a movie or a TV show, and inside their heads all they perceive is "There's people on the screen and they're moving around", so when their novel little AI toy can also generate a 5-second video clip that vaguely looks like people on a screen moving around, their soulless mind is genuinely incapable of seeing any difference between the two, or understanding how anybody more intelligent than them could see the differences between the two, and take to the internet to proclaim that this is the future and all entertainment will someday be replaced by it.

Youre a soulless automaton who doesn't actually understand or even realize that there is a deeper meaning behind anything that you perceive. You just see a person on the screen and think "This counts as a movie! Movies have people on screen too, so why don't people think this AI clip is just as good as a movie!".
You don't know or care who this person is, or what they're doing, or what their history is, or what their goals are. You yourself lack such internal mental faculties, which is why you think all it takes to replicate a movie is for people to be on a screen and moving.

You are literally proving him right with each post. It's astonishing that you can't see that. I really, really hope for your own sake you pause the pathological shitposting for a second and take some time to think about what's being said.

I'll try to help you out, it has nothing to do with how high the fidelity is of the person-like construct moving around on the screen.

it will get so good that you won't be able to tell the difference, you will continue to insist that you can, and that the real thing is better, but when presented with the real thing vs AI, you won't know which is which.

What drives you people, seriously? Misanthropy? Nihilism? Suicidal tendencies? What could possibly make an insect like you mock someone for believing in the human soul?

you are engaging in magical thinking. You want to believe that people are special, and that there is magic in film that cannot be replicated by an algorithm.
This is not a belief backed in anything real, it is something you feel because you are scared of the alternative, which is that you are not special and robots can do everything you can but better.
It doesn't matter if you consider that misanthropic or nihilistic, because it's the truth.

Do you honestly think it lends credibility to your "argument", or what approaches one, that whenever pressed you fall back on tribalistic buzzword nonsense instead of seriously addressing the point? Do you think this "wins" somehow? Is there more value in this ad hoc game for you than actually having a discussion on the topic of AI itself? What does it gain you? How does it bolster your ability to articulate your convictions in the future?

Like I said, soulless automatons, all of them. The fact that there are some people in the world who can watch a movie and actually perceive it as something more than just lights and shapes moving on a screen enrages them and makes them stamp their feet and makeup revenge fantasies about how someday all the art we can enjoy will be destroyed and everything will be dragged down to their soulless level.

animals and animal-like minds can only perceive foregrounds, they're either blind or repress the background of details that grounds a coherent three-dimensional reality, so again they see people-shapes moving people-like and go oh, AI will generate the Avatar Gorillion with a 3 word prompt in a year, luddites btfo. sad state of affairs

Probably the best post in the thread. Like with so many topics on modern (dare I say the buzzword, "zoomer") Cinemaphile, the difference seems to resolve to the ability to perceive, versus an inability to comprehend a level of awareness beyond one's own.

Ironically this has long been my pet definition of sentience: the ability to comprehend that there could exist something that one does not comprehend. AI is a fun toy, but those who hold it with cultlike reverence seem to be unaware of higher levels of human perception, and any conversation that hints at their existence seems to provoke an immediate rage response.

This, then, is the pathological, tribal nonsense of the low-intellect, low-information adherent, as previously noted. It's disappointing how great an injustice it does to those who hold AI in high esteem for genuine pragmatic purposes. Much like the AI itself, it cannot think, it can only posture and ape what it thinks a real human might look and act like. It is a simulacrum.

"Everyone who doesn't agree with me is a professional artist!" Is easily the dumbest cope AIgays resort to whenever you pick a part of their stupid toy.
Like their unironically think Cinemaphile is suddenly inhabited by hundreds of professional patreon artists, and have to just keep doubling down on that delusion over and over again to avoid admitting that the average person just doesn't think their AI slop looks good.
