Their species won't go extinct because there's way too many of them that are thousands of light years away from earth.

The ones on earth, though, those ones are doomed. It's just a matter of time.

This, plus you still have rogue Gems that aren't just gonna stop doing what they were created to do just because some pink fat frick told them to. Plus I think everyone knows the deal with Pink Diamond now so that would just give some gems who were iffy on the change to just not stop going about their intended purpose anyway

I bet there’s a Big Boss gem out there, recruiting them former warrior gems like Jasper to form their own empire where a warrior will always have a place and won’t have to spend their days living in a cave beating up grass.

The whole race is going to go extinct because their reproductive cycle is dependent on siphoning life energy from planets, which is now forbidden by one of their gods
It's basically if Jesus came back and said 'pregnancy is evil. Stop it.'

      Does it really matter?
New ones can’t be made but their race is immortal and even if they are shattered, they can be put back together again by yellow diamond

      >their reproductive cycle is dependent on siphoning life energy from planets
the entire gem "life cycle" was never actually described in full. you could take it as siphoning life energy from the planet, or you could take it as industrial pollution destroying the local environment. gems don't get sick like organic life (amethyst puking is not caused by food poisoning; likely removing injested matter so she doesn't burst her form) so if the process of making gems means gassing the planet in nerve agents and radioactives, it doesn't matter to them because they're not effected by those things.

one thing is certain though, they do remove mass from the planet to form a gem; homeworld kindergarden looking like a sponge, full of holes.

if there was one key motivator for extinction it would be loss of the diamonds, who play some unknown role of providing "essence" likely to catalyze some reaction in gem formation, like a growth hormone.

I don't know. I'd be busy with my gem hybrid kid.

Well, at that point you just became a willing widower, so in all honesty you'd probably be too fricked up to get another gem wife. And even worse would be if your second gem ended up giving her life too, which wouldn't be impossible either.

You have an kid, that's enough.

They don't reproduce, they manufacture their kind. They can't be bred out because they don't breed. Also:
    >they're galaxy spanning space fairing civilization and earth is just one planet, if anything the humans would be bred out if either option were possible
    >if they make a hybrid like steven the gem has to be passed from the mother to child but the gems don't have genetic code to contribute, any physical influences come from the gem's power
    >this means the child will always be male and unable to create their own hybrid except with another gem
    >the number of gems is always the same, whether they're reborn as a hybrid or not, even if their human half dies something will be left over from the gem which will continue on its own
    >meanwhile they can still literally make more gems in a canyon on mars or somewhere

      >They don't reproduce, they manufacture their kind. They can't be bred out because they don't breed
Didn't Steven stop the manufacturing though?
      >they're galaxy spanning space fairing civilization and earth is just one planet, if anything the humans would be bred out if either option were possible
Now that they're openly cohabitating on Earth that opens the door for humans to become space fairing as well. Allowing for a potential explosive increase in the human population and if done in a close relationship with the gems would almost guarantee more Steven style hybrids being born.
      >if they make a hybrid like steven the gem has to be passed from the mother to child but the gems don't have genetic code to contribute, any physical influences come from the gem's power
I'm not sure about that, Steven has black hair while Greg is a brunette. IIRC it was also stated in an interview that gems can have children without passing on their gems.

I mean surely rose was a once in a million case since they seem specify that she had to give up her form for steven to have a gem but not to be born. So Im thinking they just find some way to get an egg donor or just adopt if they wanted to.

Where do you take your gem wife to for your first date? I'd take her to a country dance or maybe a rodeo then we'll get bored after an hour, go home, and cuddle while watching Seinfeld

You're all morons. Gems are immortal, barring a galactic disaster they will never go extinct. And why would they breed with humans when they know it will result in their identity disappearing forever? Rose did it because it was the first tie and nobody knew how it would work.

      >And why would they breed with humans?
The power of love. If Greg could bag a diamond most other gems don't stand a chance against human men.

Having and sex and breeding are different things. Gems need to consciously manifest a reproductive system inside them in order to get pregnant. And why do it when it effectively means death for them?

      >And why would they breed with humans when they know it will result in their identity disappearing forever?
Maybe some of them will see it less like death and more like reincarnation? Possibly an upgrade too, since the first gem-hybrid turned out to be a demigod messiah?

tbh the resulting half sibling this union would make is something I'd want to see.
Doesn't even need to be Greg, but I can't think of any other candidates.

I thought Rose did it specifically because she made Steven wrong and he needed the gem to stabilize his form and also she was suicidal.

Theoretically a gem can have a kid without passing on their gem, though it might just be a clone of the dad?
