The entire middle management and low end workers in these companies are 100% on board. Many of the upper execs are true believers too with the other half so out of touch (they never knew what makes good products to begin with just how to manage money). Even if you fired the entire staff and re-hired everyone, you'd just hire more blue haired twitter addicted millennials from California who'd make the exact same films. It's systematic.

      1. It's the most paper thin race analogy ever with fires being stand-in for Asian immigrants in America.

      2. It's made to PROMOTE inter-racial relationships since even though they're legal they're still rare. Social progressives can't stand the fact that no one wants to date Soggers.

      3. Diversity rules mean that subject matter needs to be about women and minorities because "representation matter" and learned experiences and all this. Thus everything is about blacks, gays, asians, etc. The focus shifts from making GOOD entertaining profitable films to making films about minorities. Quality drops, profits drop.

And that's definitely how it was written but at some point they were like "oh no, white guy / non-white immigrant girl is considered cliche now" so they found the whitest sounding black actor they could.

Well, it's not. Believe it or not this is a website that contains a large variety of opinions, many of which come from actual normal people. The same kind of normal people that you will encounter in the mainstream.
Cinemaphile is not some cordoned off Secret Club. It's merely one of the few places where people can express themselves with (relatively) little fear of censorship or suppression. Whether you like it or not you will in fact see opinions here, and opinions in the mainstream, overlap from time to time, with no bearing on whether those opinions are valid/true/false or not.

They have no reason to stop because they don’t need to sell tickets to make money anymore. With all of the tax fraud, money laundering, streaming services they use to hide ratings, and their puppets in the media hyping it, they’re comfortable so long as they kiss Fink’s ass for a good ESG score. Now with the academy not even considering their shit unless it’s 50% BIPOC they have a heavy advantage in the fake awards department as well.

tl;dr Your opinion, your enjoyment, and your participation are irrelevant. It’s all a money scam now.

      >with all the things I made up in my head they don't need to make money anymore!

Pixar and Disney are actually in very grim financial standing. Pixar is very likely to be axed within a few years with everyone fired and merged into Disney studios. Disney is losing money god damn everywhere and has had like 8 films in a row since 2019 that haven't made any god damn money and lost almost 1 billion dollars. Their only profitable films were the live-action films, but then Little Mermaid now has yet to turn a profit. D+ is a money sink by design.

The chance of Disney being bought out or selling off massive amount of assets is very likely.

Disney is never going to go broke. All they have to do at this point is make bank on old classics they made and from older movies made by companies they’ve purchased, make bank on their theme parks, and churn out new garbage as a manufactured loss to serve as a tax shield against those other profits. It’s the safest business model, and they’re going to stick with it. Any accidental success will be a bonus. They are in the business of making flops now that are not OBVIOUS flops, but juuuuuust bad enough to lose money on.

          Anonymous

          >Disney is never going to go broke.

I doubt they will just declare bankrupsy one day. Each of these films were mean to be 750-1000 million dollar hits, and then make just as much with merchandise and theme parks. But if the films are duds no one sees, the merch just becomes a liability.

If they have years of spending billions on ventures that don't generate money, that will create cycles where the company will be bought out.

You never know with these things. It wouldn't be the first major studio to disappear off of the face of the earth. MGM was the biggest player in the industry for a long time and a decade of mismanagement brought it to it's knees. RKO was a major studio and incompetent ownership by one of the world's richest men killed it in no time. Just because a company is a staple of the industry doesn't mean they can't die a rapid death. Not saying that's going to happen to Disney, but I could see it happen to Warner Bros.

The markets got fragmented and more competition for film. But studios didn't adapt AT ALL and you see Pixar-Disney being the worst. Also preachy woke shit bombs at the box office since so few people WANT to pay money to see that. Sadly, it does better in streaming since ratings don't matter only subscribers. Thus you get endless streams of productions no one asked for or watches.

      Anonymous

      >Can someone explain what “woke” means?

Cynical French late 20th century philosophy moving away from Objective facts to subjectivity, believing that everything is culturally constructed, which is then applied to social problems. Examples include Queer theory, and Critical Race theory.

      >I’m starting to think it just means “non-white people existing”

I'd be excited about some Nigerian, or Kenyan film that tackled issues of the human condition and generally love international films. I don't watch woke" tv shows or movies that lecture me on how gender is a social construction, or how black people are inherently better in every way or form.

Pretending you have no idea what "woke" is, and that anyone critical of it is inherently a bigot, is an intentional strategy by woke activists btw.

That page is from a book called Cynical Theories, which covers this school of thought. The legitimate issue is that there's no agreed upon umbrella term for this school of philosophy. The sub-theories are all named: Queer theory, post-colonialism studies, Critical race theory, fat studies, etc. "Woke" and "Social Justice Warrior" were terms created by proponents, which then adopted by critics. The book tries to call them "Cynical Theories" which is cute, but doesn't work either.

Their philosophy is the polar opposite of European Enlightenment philosophy in every detail.
