that's frickin horseshit. I'm 30 years of age and I've watched a few hundreds. there's literally no person who have seen that many movies. I refuse to believe it.

You could but why would you want to unless you were being paid? I remember Barry Norman saying the worst part of the job was being obligated to watch every movie in its entirety regardless of quality.

early on its the black but when you reach level 20-30? you need to have cleared some of the other colors. If I were u I'd keep a watch for what colors I don't clear.

Did you clear everything green before that? If so, that is very impressive. And how about 25b? If you pass that you'll pass the 25th level anyway

My family preferred watching movies to talking so during my childhood and teens I watched a lot.

Now I torrent and watch 2-3 a day while I work. I’ve probably seen around 6000-7000 films. At least 600 from Hong Kong/taiwan alone. Film obsessives know that sub 1k is rookie numbers, barely anything that isn’t mainstream.

To have anything more than foundational knowledge of film 1k is the minimum

Do you guys actually enjoy movies? it seems at this point it's just mindless consumption. When i watch a really great film I get catharsis that lasts a week and I don't want to taint it or think about anything else for a week.
even just a good film I like to reflect on for a day or two. Jesus.

I agree. There are exceptions like actors or writers trying to study film, but bloating numbers is just an intellectual pissing contest. Watching movies just to watch movies takes away from the movie experience.

can you remember these kinos though?

Recently I was watching a movie and halfway I realized I've watched it before...

I've been thinking about how it's funny how even after watching a movie I won't remember 100% of it. I am not a computer so if you ask me what a character was wearing in a scene I won't remember. These movies are out there but no one remembers them 100%. Idk how to properly articulate myself or where I am going with this but it's something I think about. There are some movies I really really love but after watching them they become just a memory. When I'm on my deathbed I will probably be in too much pain and misery to remember the movies I enjoyed. I am not a fan of how we experience life in this linear fashion as time progresses. I wish the pleasure I have from watching the movie is something that would stay with me forever.

Lone wolf and cub (6), die hard (5), Beverly hills cop(3), maybe seen 20 of the Carry On films, 10 or so zatoichis, 5 evil dead, 15 or so hammer movies, a similar amount of universal monsters, 20 plus godzilla, 5 rambo, all the star trek movies, death wish 1-4, police academy (6), Robocop (4), Terminator (6).

Theres some more and that's just series with 4 or more movies I've watched all or some of. I'd be here all night if I started on trilogies or movies with one sequel.

Naked Killer is peak, Robotrix, there’s an especially nasty one called Women on the Run that excels at the drama and grime. Revanchist is another run and gun winner with one of the best ridiculous fights in HK history. 21 Red List too, but not cat III. Another Piece of Romance wins as well because it’s a castration film where a dudes dick gets fed to ducks

          >Robotrix
yeah, you're approved, I love the villain in that flick, I'm surprised you didn't mention the less obscure ones like Ebola Syndrome, The Boxer's Omen or Riki-Oh which have been spammed on Cinemaphile more than those you named

            Anonymous

Ah yeah those are classics, I don’t care for Ebola Syndrome, it’s excessive but doesn’t deliver the giddy insanity of Robotrix or Boxer’s Omen. I generally classify BO and its ilk like Seeding of a Ghost or Black Magic (or a deep cut CAT IV like Blood Maniac) as black magic films over CAT IIIs as the intent is different. Same for Riki, a manga adaptation first imo. But love it to pieces.

I’m watching through the SWV catalog at the moment to round out my education in seediness. If you’re into film, find categories and dive deep. It’ll pay dividends

              >Ebola Syndrome
              >giddy insanity
I can see where you going since the movie doesn't have any "supernatural" or fantasy-like elements. Yet, I do find the honest depiction of a nut going supercrazy and whom spews out his hate onto the world by doing every crime imaginable pretty insane on that alone.

              >Black magic
I do agree with you there. chinese folklore encorporates a lot of themes and genres which makes it seems "crazier" to westernes than it actually is.

              >categories
spot on, I love all the weird periods/eras which propelled countless of copycats-films such as giallos, the yakuzas gangster flicks of the 70s, the italian zombie-horrors of the 80s, women prison-films, the nazi-experiment camps of the 70s, rain forest cannibals-movies and all that
it boggles my mind how many times people are willing to revisit and reexplore a concept for the sake of earning some potential money
