Everytime, as a matter of fact I was so tight with the people who worked in theaters they gave me free pop corn and drinks twice it was probably because I helped some of the jannies throwing away some of the leftover drinks. This was before the pandemic.
I stuck around for some movies after the credits ended to see if there's another ending then I was the only person left in the theater that's how ended up helping the jannies in some occasions.
same here. The staff knew me well. If I showed up early, they'd sometimes gives me three extra squirts of butter topping and they'd call me "Three for Free!" Good times.
India never ceases to amaze me with their stupidity. >be living in literal mud hut surrounded by trash and filth >your neighbour is from a lower caste but lives in exactly the same kind of putrid filth as you >still somehow think you're better than them
You can't even enjoy a movie alone anymore without some homosexual redditor taking your picture and posting it online about how much of a loser you are.
I went to see Napoleon on Monday, Godzilla today, and will see the new Miyazaki tomorrow. All solo. I watch them alone and in the early afternoon. Parking is a breeze, hardly anyone is there, no colored/loud people, food gets there incredibly fast (if needed, I don’t), everything is wiped down and clean, tickets are cheaper, the bar is open for just myself. I can’t imagine going to the kinoplex with another person at night anymore.

I was actually thinking of going to the movies alone tomorrow to see Godzilla. Since I'll be at the mall buying Christmas gifts I thought it might be nice to treat myself to an empty matinee.
But I'm disappointed they don't have it in a large format, these frickers played Beyonce Black Fest in the Dolby screen instead and I think it's fricking Wonka on the IMAX.
Do you guys think it's worth 10 bucks on a small screen? To me I can get the same experience at home mostly...
didn't read the thread like an butthole lel
I still haven't decided myself but I would say if you can see it in large/special format it would be worth it. Like I wouldn't even be questioning it if my gay theater hadn't put stupid shit in the Dolby Cinema/IMAX.
I did. There was another guy who was alone 2 seats away on my right. And a few others rows away. It was peak comfy and there weren't any couples that I could see either
Hell yeah. I saw it first night and loved it. I've been telling everyone to see it.

I'm very much like you. I like going right after work on weekdays or to 10 or 11am on weekends for all the same reasons.
I've never been to the cinema alone, and I was thinking of watching Godzilla this saturday by myself too as it releases in spanish cinemas by friday, I'm meeting with my friends for a drink at evening, but I don't think they would like to watch the movie, and even less in vose, so im gonna watch it before meeting them. Im kinda excited for the experience uwu
I've only ever done it once to see No Time to Die since it's my favorite movie series. Friend I saw Skyfall with hadn't spoken to me in over five years, friend I saw Spectre with died a few months earlier, and I didn't have anyone else interested available to see it with.
Was pissed to later find out it got a 3D release in IMAX because I love 3D and would have been happy to pay extra since I only had to buy one ticket.
I didn't get to see Bond in 3D because they weren't playing it over here. Did get to see Mission Impossible: Fallout in 3D. Surprisingly excellent conversion.
I hadn't seen a Mission Impossible movie since MI 2.
about twice a year. It's not that I don't want to, it just how long does it take to forget how miserable it is to see 20 minutes of commercials before screening.
It's crazy because going to the theater alone used to be the norm even as far back as the 1920s. It wasn't a big deal if you had company or not. Someone people would even just go hang out in the theater all day for the air conditioning (this was before a/c was common for personal residences).
It's still around but it's history as far as being a major draw, Imax has taken that place (but is limited by locations)
Nothing is even being made in 3d anymore except Avatar, it's all post conversions.
>Shame about 3d tvs and 3d gaming, seemed like a nice gimmick
It is a nice gimmick. Especially when they aren't afraid to use it as a gimmick like in the old movies like Friday the 13th Part 3, or The Creature from the Black Lagoon.
It was never going to be a mainstream all the time thing, but it's great as a once in a while thing.

Imax 3D is where it's at. That is the ultimate film format.
It's Kino as frick.
As long as IMAX continues to deteriorate into a digital lie, no movie fanatic will bother. Dolby Cinema is unironically a much more kino experience compared to a lieMAX theater. The screens are almost as big as a standard lieMAX but the audio is always far superior, even to real IMAX if it isn't in a stadium setting.
I do love IMAX 3D even so, and I'll buy it if it's the only choice, but knowing it's a just a name is disappointing.

I prefer it these days. If I go with friends I only see them for ten minutes before and after the movie so barely worth the trouble, no one will hang out after

Let em know who's in charge. >Frick this.
He had a service dog that barked during the movie too. I eventually started yelling at him to shut up, to which he replied. >People at the movies who shouldn't be saying anything, right?
Then I told him to shut up again, and he was quiet for a bit. But eventually, he just started off again. Disgusting fat, frick. I think he weighed about 270lbs. I should have known something was up when a team of six movie jannies walked out of the theater right before I walked in. I'd think it was one of you if he wasn't so dumb.

You should have kicked the shit out of the mutt (canine) and used the leash to strangle the mutt (American) while you beat his ass. Theaters are dark for a reason, homie. This is why paying a bunch of money to see a rerelease of a popular movie like that sucks ass, this always happens
Yeah I was actually imagining fighting him, getting arrested, and losing my job, and I decided to just yell at him, finish the movie, and leave.
99% of the time. I like going to the last evening shows on sundays, and avoid tues/fri/sat. And I wait a couple weeks after a new release. I'm usually the only one and get my choice of comfy recliners.
[...]
I never got on a first name basis but several employees would have my pop (I don't like popcorn and I smuggle in my own bag of M&M peanuts) ready when I walked up to the concessions. Friendly crew. On several occasions when I went to see "Brave" 3D the staff had to fire up the projector because they thought no one was showing up. It'd get so that they'd ask me if I wanted to skip all the previews and commercials and just roll the opening short then main attraction.
I always cringe when the staff knows me so well that they start prepping my usual order, and I change it just to maintain the distance. I don't why I'm like this.
So can anyone answer me about seeing the Minus One movie in a normal theater vs Dolby/IMAX? Did anyone even have a showing in the premium formats near them? I can't locate one on the entire East coast US, it's all Beyonce or Die Hard.
Ah thanks anon. I figured it was something like that, I know the Dolby screens tend to change movies quickly and Minus One is on an extended run this week, right?
Would you say it's worth seeing in a normal theater, or should I just wait for a good rip? I only really ask because it'll still cost $12 for a matinee at the 'good' theater.
Only once. I saw borat by myself during the day when it came out cause I knew it would be funny as frick and I was right and the theater was laughing so hard it didn’t even occur to me it was weird I was alone. It was like a party. In fact I just don’t think about shit like that at all. If I wanted to see another movie alone I wouldn’t think it was strange.
I like to go to a movie that's been out for a few weeks on a weekday afternoon. The tickets are usually cheaper too. There's something quite serene about being in a theater completely by yourself.
The only thing I miss about working in retail is seeing a movie on a Tuesday at like 12:30, being more or less alone in the auditorium, sneaking in a sandwich and chips in my coat
I go regularly. In fact, I generally prefer it. Between my home and work, there five theaters within 10-15 minutes of driving, so I can time it up perfectly.
If I could find someone who could afford to go as much as I do and had the same habits (not talking, not making noise with wrappers, etc.) that would be great.
>more women in theaters alone nowadays
Maybe some hags. But young(ish) women never go to the movies alone. And zoomers simply just don't go to the movies, period.
>Journalist that expects to be taken seriously using a term like “brainworms”
We have regressed so much in the last 40 years I don’t know if we can recover
If a cool film comes out I'll go on a day off oth the weekend with a flask of vodka and popcorn or some food I snuck in. I'm debating on Godzilla or the Boy and his Heron this week. I dont understand the issue as I'm not trying to have discussions during a movie.
Recently I decided to stop drinking (unless unless I was at a party or some kind of event), since then I go to the movies, theatre, operas, philharmonia, concerts practically every weekend. Always by myself since I'm a fricking speg.
Nobody cares, nobody looks at me funny, nobody notices. It's a good way to spend your weekends, I think. At least I have something to look forward to.
Have done it a couple of times. I usually go for an early showing on a weekday, to minimize the amount of other people. Was thinking about going for Napoleon, but it's apparently a shitty movie.
Since kino has been dead after 2019 I have stopped going to the theaters by myself. It's not worth it to sit and pay for these movies while not trying to get laid. The golden age of cinema for me was 2007-2017
i used to always go with friends when i was a kid, but as an adult i actually went to enjoy the movie so i preferred going alone, also i had more friends as a kid than i do as an adult so theres that too
>that brief period of time when moviepass was a thing
went to the theaters every day for like a month straight. had a lovely walk through the city to get there (~20 minutes) and would stop by the booze store on the way to get 2 nips to sip on during the movie. no one was ever in the theater although one time two girls sat near the front, took off their shoes and socks, put their feet up and ate a giant ass burrito before it started
I fricking hate reddit. Those wienersuckers users are so addicted to that wiener sucking website, that they just forgot they were supposed to boycott it for API destroying fees. Reddit crippled all archive of 3rd party searches of porn while in the same swing had heeps of banning and dismantling of sub reddits from the boycott. I lost good shit, like tears in rain. Those uncreative fricks would post anything for up votes, examples like family members who probably didn't consent to their beach photos, while common comments of people talking stroking their shit to it. Reddit prides itself of sharing and showing, yet it's grounded in shunning putting down anyone sharing their own work, unless they word it like some bird mating dance so they don't their post removed from the blob shaped moderators. It's accepted to just be the internet's regurgitation by stealing content from every edge of the Internet. Most posts are links to articles already since they can't post a whole article without websites going after them. They generate nothing of value, yet somehow can't get enough of up voting but since notoriety means nothing on that website, that growing number means frick all. Creativity gets shunned unless you post to please the dumb masses, including such as shitty relative life posts/comics, drawing sexy characters, or just straight up posting their nudes. Frick that hollow website and it's users. it was made so stupid people could do all the work for free and in return get some shitty titles, pngs, and worthless number next to their cringe ass user name.
I worked at a theatre in 1994 I saw every 1994 alone mutable times. The lobby was decorated like a jungle for 2 years because of Lion King.
Great year for free movies though. >Stargate >Dumb & Dumber >Pulp Fiction >Leon the Professional >Shawshank >Forrest Gump >Natural Born Killers >The Crow >Clerks
>LoTR re-released on cinemas >too much of a pussy to go alone >too much of a sperg to ask my own sister if she wants to go (we used to watch them together)
Jesus just put me out of my missery I can't even handle your easiest battles
went to see weathering with you in japanese opening night, rural Australia so I didn't expect many people would be there and screenings were limited
only 1 weird looking asian dude showed up by himself
I went to go see the new John Woo movie Monday night by myself and besides a father and son combo I was the only one in the theater. Their presence was kinda annoying because I would've laughed much more audibly at how bad it was if they weren't there.
It's the only way I see movies now. All my friends either have kids, jobs with weird schedules, or are too fat to sit next to in the theater. I go on my own schedule, buy a popcorn, get to see a good movie instead of whatever Marvel dogshit is out that week, and I have a wonderful time
>Usher goes to a bunch of girls and asks them if the incel in the backrow is giving them the creeps.
It's grounds for removal, because now you're a perceived safety risk for everyone involved.

thats not a cinema with people sat miles apart though
>sneak in and sneak out >fake conversation with people around you >this is optimal! >carry around a womans coat, people will assume its for your girlfriend >carry it with you literally everywhere >fake a phonecall IN THE THEATRE >that way people will assume you have friends >19 empty seats with party hats will make people suspicious >like my last birthday
Every week. On Sunday or Monday morning when barely anyone is there. Usually I have the room to myself. No friends, no family, still love going to the movies.
Just once, Evangelion 3.0 + 1.0. I had already watched it on streaming but I wanted to experience it on a big screen. The only other people in the room were a couple of South Americans (I live in Spain). It was comfy.
Do people actually worry about this stuff? Just go see the movie alone. Who cares? I've been to a few movies alone, nobody is going to say or do anything.
I go to a luxury theater in an affluent town that serves food and beverages and comfy reclining seats. I sometimes go on Tuesdays when tickets are half off and they have happy hour while my wife is working. It's comfy af. There's usually only 4 or 5 other people in there with me. Problem is there are so few movies being screened that are worth seeing anymore.
last weekend I went to see Napoleon alone
the girlfriend wanted to go to some concert of an artist I hate so I waited for her while watching the movie. what happened is that she was waiting for me considering the movie is almost 3h
it sucked being alone. I was the only one alone in my row
>not buying the ticket online and then pulling the stealth ninja entrance and exit move where you only enter the cinema 10-15 minutes after the official time when the lights are already down during ads/trailers and you storm out of the theater first just before the credits start to roll and the lights go up
it's like you guys don't even know how to be proper friendless kissless virgins
I went to go see Saw X by myself and it was a terrible experience. I looked like the only autist there that went to go see a fricking Saw film seriously while every other zoomer just used it as a chance to watch tiktoks with their friends and the 30 blacks that were in there screaming and acting moronic cause it was a horror movie. Probably wont see another movie by myself again unless its a niche movie i know not a lot of people will be interested in
Probably went at a bad time anon. Wait until the movie has been out for a while. All the normalgays will have seen it the first weekend. Wait a couple weeks. It is absolutely best to not go on a weekend either. Try to go on a weekday, preferably in the afternoon and it will either be you by yourself or just a couple other fellow autists who will be spaced from you at an appropriate distance.
I have AMC A List and literally go 3 times a week by myself. IDGAF what zoomies think, I'm a 32 year old boomer and it's a nice way to get away from my GF now and then
I saw sicario when it came out alone about 3pm on a friday, there were about 5-6 other people in the cinema all also alone, made me feel a bit better
not done it since
I honestly don’t go to theatres any more. But when I regularly did pre-covid I’d say 2 or 3 times a year? Depending on if anyone else I knew wanted to see something or not.
i dont understand the stigma of going to the movies alone
it's like the worst activity you could pick for social purposes. you sit your ass on an uncomfortable chair for two hours, and unless you and whoever you brought along are completely alone you cant talk about the movie. cant pause it for snacks, for a bathroom break, or just to comment on the movie.
on the other hand, going to restaurants alone is weird as frick, at least to me. very rarely is the food as good as something you can make yourself at home. their purpose is just to be a place where you can chat with your friends/family.
>i just came to see honk if you're horny in peace
>A fridge too far.
Everytime, as a matter of fact I was so tight with the people who worked in theaters they gave me free pop corn and drinks twice it was probably because I helped some of the jannies throwing away some of the leftover drinks. This was before the pandemic.
Were you three for free?
I stuck around for some movies after the credits ended to see if there's another ending then I was the only person left in the theater that's how ended up helping the jannies in some occasions.
They usually tell you if there is or isn't these days.. did you just wanna see for yourself? You kind, helpful, autistic, frick.
>literally a jannie working for free in real life
jesus christ, anon
He got free popcorn and drinks, his labor was compensated
>free popcorn and drinks,
he worked for leftovers anon
same here. The staff knew me well. If I showed up early, they'd sometimes gives me three extra squirts of butter topping and they'd call me "Three for Free!" Good times.

Makes you think.
You can't even enjoy a movie alone anymore without some homosexual redditor taking your picture and posting it online about how much of a loser you are.
Now your shit is being taken and posted on tiktok and instagram tiktok. You're shit picture is being taken and being laughed at online on the daily.
I doubt that since I look like an uberchad
Not if you’re alone and all by yourself and have no friends around you.
A workable definition of uberchad could be someone who still looks cool and attractive despite being alone
Who cares?
I only see movies by myself.
I only see movies by myself since I'm single now
I went to see Desolation of Smaug so I could smoke a lot of weed first
and I did
and it was awesome
dude weed lmao

>Sorrowful Pajeet loner has to screech and set off fireworks at the weekday showing all by himself.
Sad!
Just went today to see minus one, it was comfy. Almost empty theatre so nobody to annoy or judge me

Whenever I'm too high and get split up from my friends when sneaking in... wait this isn't highschool anymore
I saw Godzilla alone on Friday and The Boy and the Heron alone Monday. I'll be going to see Poor Things alone on Thursday.
Keep on keepin' on anon!
kek men are so scared of watching movies alone. ive seen more women in theaters alone nowadays.
>more women in theaters alone nowadays
Maybe some hags. But young(ish) women never go to the movies alone. And zoomers simply just don't go to the movies, period.
>Journalist that expects to be taken seriously using a term like “brainworms”
We have regressed so much in the last 40 years I don’t know if we can recover
camera phones were a mistake
If a cool film comes out I'll go on a day off oth the weekend with a flask of vodka and popcorn or some food I snuck in. I'm debating on Godzilla or the Boy and his Heron this week. I dont understand the issue as I'm not trying to have discussions during a movie.
Can't, my local Kinoplex has a strict "no singles" policy.
The golden age of cinema for me was 2007-2017
i used to always go with friends when i was a kid, but as an adult i actually went to enjoy the movie so i preferred going alone, also i had more friends as a kid than i do as an adult so theres that too
I’m too agoraphobic and poor to do anything these days, but I’m going to start doing movie nights at home.
MY SHIT IS LIGHTER THAN YOUR SHIT

went to the theaters every day for like a month straight. had a lovely walk through the city to get there (~20 minutes) and would stop by the booze store on the way to get 2 nips to sip on during the movie. no one was ever in the theater although one time two girls sat near the front, took off their shoes and socks, put their feet up and ate a giant ass burrito before it started
i still think about them, fondly.
Exclusively.
Who sees sitting a room with the lights off for 2+ hours where you can't talk as a social event?
Maybe 3 times a month of average. Nearly every single time i go with other people it's not as good.

I go on my own schedule, buy a popcorn, get to see a good movie instead of whatever Marvel dogshit is out that week, and I have a wonderful time
This guide has helped me a lot.
Holy mother of autism
1. Don't give a frick what strangers think of you and go see your movie.
Enjoy being escorted out of the theater when someone notices you and informs the staff that there's some creepy loser watching a movie by himself
>Usher goes to a bunch of girls and asks them if the incel in the backrow is giving them the creeps.
It's grounds for removal, because now you're a perceived safety risk for everyone involved.
Has this ever happened?
it occurred to me in a dream
thats not a cinema with people sat miles apart though
Wow what a homosexual.
the kinoplex's rules are harsh, but fair
I won't hold popcorn in my lap at the kino alone because I don't want people to think I'm jerking off.
holy shit what the frick is this weapons grade autism
just go dont give a shit, i actually feel bad for people that this scared of the world, not everyone is gonna hurt you
>sneak in and sneak out
>fake conversation with people around you
>this is optimal!
>carry around a womans coat, people will assume its for your girlfriend
>carry it with you literally everywhere
>fake a phonecall IN THE THEATRE
>that way people will assume you have friends
>19 empty seats with party hats will make people suspicious
>like my last birthday
HOLY FRICK
all the time. and it's always a good experience
I haven't set foot in a movie theater since early 2016.
Problem is there are so few movies being screened that are worth seeing anymore.
i go every week either to the theater or movies if there isint a game then i go to the stadium
I saw The Boy and the Heron the other day and this was the theater. The couple didn't show up.
what about the couples sat either side of you?
The grey seats are the ones that are reserved. The white ones are unoccupied.
very confusing. you'd think they'd use squares as circles look like the top of peoples heads.
You guys go to the kinoplex alone? Aren't you worried about getting arrested
Godzilla Minus One really succeeded in getting Cinemaphileanons to go to the theaters.
The last time I went to a movie theater by myself was also the last time I went theater at all. I think it was about 8 years ago.
I don't like movies. I've probably only been to 20 movies in my entire (36-year) life, almost all of which were as a child.
Spoiler: Nobody cares if you're alone or with someone at the cinema.
Stop torturing our little introverts.
yeah people think they matter more than they actually do and at the kinoplex you're there to watch movies, not socialize
Theaters are losing money more than ever now and they need every movie goers they could get
They care and they're watching.
last weekend I went to see Napoleon alone
the girlfriend wanted to go to some concert of an artist I hate so I waited for her while watching the movie. what happened is that she was waiting for me considering the movie is almost 3h
it sucked being alone.

So many deleted accounts on Reddit if you go back and look up archived posts.
Try to go on a weekday, preferably in the afternoon and it will either be you by yourself or just a couple other fellow autists who will be spaced from you at an appropriate distance.
i went alone to watch the new Digimon movie
I used to all the time, then i got married with kids so I can’t experience kino on the big screen anymore
Can't believe y'all still post about this after decades.
No one fricking cares if you go alone except dumb kids.
Last time I did was for Lupin The First, I think it was a little after COVID mandates finished in 2021.
I thought I was the only Lupin fan in my city, but there was another guy in the screening. Amazing film, one of the best in the franchise.
i just chug alcohol and pop stimulants and watch like 2-3 movies in a row lol
I was the only guy in the theater watching Shazam in a rainy Wednesday, so I just browsed the internet on my phone while "watching" the movie
