>womans version of events is titled "The Truth"
fricking lol
I will never watch this movie or give a single shit about it, beyond telling my friends (you guys) how little I care about it so we can discuss my lack of caring if you feel like it.
Damon's version: he is nobley defending his wife's honor who was raped by Driver who is a pig.
Driver's version: he had an affair with the wife consentually, she didnt love Damon because he was a dumb brute.
Wife's version: she is the smartest person in the castle, all of the serfs and poor people love her, her husband is dumb and shes so hot Driver cant help but rape her.
All of the stories were incredibly biased based on whose pov they were from, but the women's version was considered "the truth" and thats why the movie is gay.
And in real life, she was raped. It was widely agreed upon to be true even before the trial because the guy's only alibi was a known liar who later also got hanged for raping someone. Cope.
>the guy's only alibi was a known liar who later also got hanged for raping someone. Cope.
lol. >"Your honor, not only have I committed no act of sexual indecency but I also have brought Sir Rapes-a-alot to testify on my behalf as he can confirm I was most definitely NOT raping anyone at the time of the rape." >Very well. Sir Rapes-a-alot, dismount that peasant woman and please take the stand.
Historically inaccurate up the arse and Ridley Scott has been getting more and more senile with each passing year. The historical inaccuracies was acceptable artistic license up until Kingdom of Heaven, after that it became fricking ridiculous and was no longer enjoyable.
Also it released in the middle of Covid lol
Fun fact. Historically speaking, it was fairly provable that he did do it. The funny thing is the movie omits most of the evidence for some bizarre reason and just tells you to listen and believe. I presume they did this to make Medieval people look like morons, because a lot of the evidence was based on some very good logical thinking and pointing out some contradictions in testimonies.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQP0QB4xWHo
This was the best medieval movie me he made and I want a part 2 with lionheart.
Also watch the uncut version.
It was very good as a film. But the historical inaccuracies (Teutonic Knights showing up, having the Templars be the bad guys and depicting Guy de Lusignian, a weak but fairly honorable ruler as an evil scheming villain) were legitimately absurd and were both unneeded and unnecessary. Great film though. If he made a Part 2 nowadays it would be shite because he's lost all his taste and talent.
>two fricking morons fight to the death over the word of a woman
why do you think?
It's such a mindnumbingly uninteresting concept from the get go. With The Duelist, there were actually some interesting themes to be explored, here, the film just spends 2 hours setting up a 'he said she said' and then they fight to the death at the end. It's like a dumbed down version of Rashomon.
I’ve watched it multiple times by now. It’s great and comfy but was probably a bit too austere and lacked much of the epic medieval battle stuff normies associate such movies with. While the feminist angle was very heavy handed it served to make the final act much more emotionally impactful.
The trailer made it look like a giant feminist slop with the woman as the main character
I still went to see it because I'm a medieval weeb, but I imagine the average person who just want to have a good time immediately thought "yeah ill pass"
Americans only watch capeshit nowadays. These kind of historical movies will always flop in the US, especially when they have no "diversity" and are not about America.
I cant take anything matt damon or ben affleck make, let alone a period piece. Ibjust burst out laughing everytime they are on screen and attempt to """""act""".
lame ass feminist Rashomon wannabe. every character is an unlikable frick including the woman. the cinematography is as dreary and unoriginal as the characters and the script.
the duel itself was fine but if the only watchable part of a movie can be reduced to 8 minutes, why the frick would I pay to watch 2 and a half hours of a pure shit story that could have been told in about an hour. I still wouldn't have paid then but it's less egregious
It is a rip-off, but a better acted one. There is much more subtlety to it as a result. And yeah, the duel was great. I felt that by having so much lead up to it, the stakes felt way higher and I actually cared what the result would be.
The whole "on pain of damnation" line from Driver's character when lying, and then getting throated, was really dirty. When here in the corporeal plane, his adamant denial to the end actually makes him seem more innocent in the public's eyes.
>Anna taylor joy only gets with him to birth twins; a boy who will be useless and a girl who will be a 'woman-king'
this shit was israelited but you guys were too busy jerking it to an all white cast to notice
This guy gets it. Also, the main character is a delusional schizophrenic and is basically the villain of the story. It was not the "white male power fantasy" morons here proclaimed it to be.
It had no black people so it ruined the immersion. Studies show that in middle age Europe there were lots of African American noble men that got buried by the past so this left a sour taste in my mouth. I mean not a single POC in this entire film? Set on multiple courts? Unrealistic to say the least.
mat damon looks like theo vaughn and i dont like adam drivers face. thats why i didn't watch it.
Very valid reasons, Adam Driver should play the Elephant Man or something so we don't have to look at his freaky face.

>historically inaccurate
How so?
Ridley Scott can't pull off a convincing France. They're just cosplay to let Jodie Comer do her Meryl Streeping.
More medieval cinema shit with dark and boring color pallettes and a wardrobe of black, I'm tired of Hollywood touching anything from the Middle Ages.
CONFESSSSSSSSSS
For me, it's the Green Knight
Boring garbage.

Adam raped her
The trial proved it idk what's there to not understand
Damon's version: he is nobley defending his wife's honor who was raped by Driver who is a pig.

yes, and Damon's story agrees that she was raped but isnt considered the truth
>the guy's only alibi was a known liar who later also got hanged for raping someone. Cope.
lol.

SIR NO THE WOMAN IS A BASTARD b***h LIAR NO RAPE SHE WANTED IT
Harvey is that you!?
>Bro I just showed up at the house of a married woman unannounced and she took me in and fricked me
happens all the time

Rashomon rip off

It's a good movie, but people look at the poster and think Damon and Affleck look out of place
It released right in the middle of covid lockdown. Are you moronic?
It was literally advertised as being for the metoo generation.
Also the director blamed millennials and tik tok like a homosexual.
I thought replaying the rape for a 9th time was a bit gratuitous.
>How the FRICK did this flop?
Matt damon is impossible to take seriously good movie regardless but
Americans only watch capeshit nowadays. These kind of historical movies will always flop in the US, especially when they have no "diversity" and are not about America.
men bad, the movie.
I cant take anything matt damon or ben affleck make, let alone a period piece. Ibjust burst out laughing everytime they are on screen and attempt to """""act""".
Feminist propaganda.
>Wife version of the event had her raped, but still manage to make her husband the bad guy for wanting to defend her honor
Bravo ridley
It flopped because of the third act. Everything before that was good.
lame ass feminist Rashomon wannabe. every character is an unlikable frick including the woman. the cinematography is as dreary and unoriginal as the characters and the script.

~~*Hollywood*~~ won't promote white historical epics
this shit was just the Green Knight with a viking theme
>Anna taylor joy only gets with him to birth twins; a boy who will be useless and a girl who will be a 'woman-king'
this shit was israelited but you guys were too busy jerking it to an all white cast to notice

Just not a great movie. I wanted so much to like it.
This was the best medieval movie me he made and I want a part 2 with lionheart.
Also watch the uncut version.
a movie about Baldwin defeating Saladin would be kino but they will never make that
EVERY SINGLE MOVIE SINCE 2019 HAS FLOPPED, WHY CAN'T YOU FRICKING GET IT?? CINEMA IS DEAD.
It had no black people so it ruined the immersion. Studies show that in middle age Europe there were lots of African American noble men that got buried by the past so this left a sour taste in my mouth. I mean not a single POC in this entire film? There's a woman in it.
>Movie set during the Hundred Years War
>Center it around a court drama
Wasted potential.
>Literally period piece
Nah it's movie about rape and muh patriarchal injustice.
>her truth = the truth
audible sigh in the kinoplace at that moment
