Something like this, only with the Narrator's voice.
I always assumed it said something like "Hey!(Ojo means eye but in many contexts it can be used to say "Pay attention!" or "Hey!") I wish for sound!"
Not this but you should look up Woolseyism for good versions of localising difficult phrases while keeping their meaning. I learned about it on TV Tropes.
I don't know, I couldn't track down this episode in my language. What usually happens is that it doesn't get handled at all. Translations are literal and the joke gets terminated in the process because there really isn't any way around this.
Sometimes translators can just reinvent the joke and even keep it relevant but it really depends on many factors. The only example of this I can name right now is Dexter's Lab and "why is six afraid of seven" joke.
Yes I know it's season 3, episode 24. I said I can't track it down in my language. For some reason episodes numbers are different here. Funnily enough some FOP foreign dubs surfaced on youtube lately and those are legal copies. I have no fricking clue how that copyright works.
Nelvana holds the international distribution rights to the first five seasons, so they publish them wherever they please. It is also the reason why FOP aired on Disney XD

I see. It's actually very nice. I wasn't familiar with FOP untill I dug it up on youtube. Other companies could also just upload cartoons that don't make any money anymore. Especially dubs other than english. Some of these dubs are lost media.
The episode name is "Pipe Down", they translated it into "Il silenzio è d'oro" in italian btw.
I understand but I don't know the title in wienerroach.
There’s one I can think of. Animaniacs did a “who’s on first.” Skit but the joke being they were at a concert and The Who were playing. In France the joke was change to “ou.” Or where.
Probably with subtitles. That’s usually how they work around it if it’s too hard to re-animate.
You get clever stuff sometimes but at least in my language they give up and you just kinda accept that there's some weird language stuff going on

>Urano es un planeta y no lo que pensabamos
as a kid I didn't get what was the joke

They just didn't gave a frick
The Latin American version did a literal translation, which means it wasn't handled at all. Same thing with the "dancer" gag and other wordplays.

Kid me could figure out that somehow it would make sense in English, since the English text has not been changed at all

and how did that go?
It worked out very well.

I´m wondering the same with
>"I'm big, I'm hurting people, and I'm misunderstood!"
>"Just like the IRS"
That one's easy. just switch IRS with that countries tax agency. The joke still works.
Ok, but what i mean is how it was translated to foreign countries
If I recall in brazilian portuguese, they just made it "I wish four channels of sound" which kind of worked.
I'm gonna go watch it right now, episode 17 of season 3
*16
They went for the literal translation of "Occhio" "Desidero" "Quattro" "Suono", then just collated it into the "Io desidero il suono"
german dub left it unaltered, so it has no context at all
