i think its a solid action movie but overrated from the public and critics, its just ok. What i would like to see is a feudal japanese society deal with godzilla, like a musket wielding samurai and a fat ass sumo wrestler looking at Gidorah and saying "hory shet" and having to deal with him with no technology. Its a bit anachronistic because godzilla is supposed to be a metaphor for nuclear destruction but it would be cool to see him dealt with using 18th century technology and logistics
Anno wanted it to be a standalone and Toho always saw it as a spinoff.
The closest idea to a sequel that even surfaced was Anno considering a Kaiju brawler featuring Shin in what he called a "Toho Champion Festival-style monster showdown".
The way he describes it sounds like it would have just been something goofy for people who didn't like the political plot in Shin Godzilla.
It's HOLLYSHAT, they're still butt hurt a 15 million not HOLLYSHAT production was favorably received, made a considerable profit, and has re-watch ability especially when Godzilla Monarch was reviled for being a piece of shit dyke fan fic.
>Cinemaphile hypes film as the greatest thing ever for weeks after it releases >A month or so later the contrarians and autists can finally slink in to make threads like this once everyone's tired of talking about it.
Like clockwork.
i defend it by not speaking Japanese. if there's a cheesy or bad performance in a foreign film it is significantly less noticeable compared to an English-speaking movie.
In the end, the cave our ancestors crawled out of was very different to the cave those island dwellers emerged from. Japan might as well be another planet
our 21st century camera acting techniques are very different from our traditional theatrical techniques. Cinema's early history was closer to the average theatrical style but that has gone away more as time as gone on.
I alt tabbed to YT to watch something else when [action scene] was not happening
Like i give a shit about muh honor, gimme khogsjira fricking shit up for 90 minutes
That's just how nips behave
>i'm outraged that there's bad acting in a Godzilla movie
The writing is terrible too
go blog about it
not really, just very safe and generic. what was terrible about it?
i was sad when she got swept back even though it looked silly
Wide shots rarely work for death scenes. They tend to look goofy.
She should have stayed dead. It would have given a more nuanced bittersweet ending to the film but they pussied out big time
That's just japanese acting
more like japanese directing
nips act pretty alight in Shogun

I get people saying that about The Predator, but with Godzilla what's the point really.
because it'd be cooler than Predator, ill never understand why that franchise took off
Because Predator is a great action movie. Peak Arnold. Slack jawed homosexuals like you wouldn’t understand
I thought the acting was fine, subdued sure but fine
What's wrong with the acting?
He looks so small there.
> Canonically, Shin Godzilla is is permanent pain. And as of right now, he is frozen solid in the middle of Tokyo.
But yeah sure, let's reboot by making this a really fricking boring muh war-guilt drama, ok. Frick.
Both are good. Why be a gay?
Why are Shintards so triggered by the new movie?

>shingay reveals itself
>How will Cinemaphile defend the acting in this flick?
>A giant lizard is literally destroying a city and I need context.
ok - seek mental health facilities nearby maybe
>Bad acting
>Bad cgi
>Boring soundtrack
I will never listen to weeb ever again
That's why Gamera is the superior franchise
Making the same thread again won’t make you more right

>live action anime
This movie is a 5/10 at best, but in all fairness that is partly because of all the normies who over hyped it when it was released in theaters.

what's his endgame?

how is this related to the OP? youve become a schizo
Either a permanently butthurt Pedowood employee or an Annogay. Keep seething though, I enjoy watching you lose your sanity daily.
I love it when some schizo moron pretends to be normal and making "them" seethe
Even the fx were mid and not as great as everyone said. Very disappointing flick imho.
The fx are great to have as small of a budget as it did and to be Japanese
The acting didn't need to be good, because they were Japanese and everyone just assumes they act like autists all the time.
i defend it by not speaking Japanese. if there's a cheesy or bad performance in a foreign film it is significantly less noticeable compared to an English-speaking movie.
Japan has a different theatrical culture, which makes their acting differently nuanced.
it's just worse, they're very behind on acting. that's why pic related mogs the other actors on shogun for example, he's influenced by western acting
In the end, the cave our ancestors crawled out of was very different to the cave those island dwellers emerged from. Japan might as well be another planet
indeed, they're worse at some things (like movies) but way ahead of the west in others (like video games)

People praised this, and it was certainly a decent flick.
But I dunno, after all hype, I somehow expected more.
Shin was the better movie in every regard
