Food motivation. Like dogs or anything else. It's literally prison. Literally have points go to creature comforts (or entertainment, like booze). Have challenge immunity count for opting out of demeaning or gross or physically taxing bullshit, and/or gift the ability to punish rivals. Take Out vs. basic dine in frozen dinners in.
Food motivation is great, but they still need to have basic food with nutrients available to cook for themselves. Immunity like the way you described is another mechanic that they absolutely need to implement.

I think that season 3 needs to rely much less on Paintball Obese and Fred Harass, they have their moments but I watch the show for the actual contestants and they steal the spotlight, especially Obese, who honestly shouldn’t be involved anymore at all
This is a symptom of a higher order problem (having structure, challenges, risk/reward, things in the house for the fish to do). You aren't wrong though, the cast needs to be the spotlight, the bottom feeders should be a supporting role.
The point of the freeloaders should be to prod at the fish in order to get them to do something when the show starts to flatline. The problem this season is that no amount of prodding was enough to get the fish to stop being boring
Because they didn't need prodding, but challenges and long activities to do in the house to keep them active and be known by the audience in a natural way. What the "prodding" did (the group therapy calling them nontent, the freeloaders puffing their egos, wrecking the house) was to put them on edge and do stupid shit like pouring condiments on one another, or even do nothing at all.
If you have a horse pulling your cart you keep it healthy and well fed so it performs well -- you don't hit it with a stick until you break its leg and blame it for that. But the "Master Manipulators" in production need that ego stroke, i guess. Money be damned.
Agreed I love those two but we shouldn't depend on them to shake things up when things get boring in the house. We need new freeloaders like Liver Straight and Senor Brute, who actually made things interesting even though it was their debut in the Aquarium.

I honestly have no clue, but leaving it to the swamp olympics was too late anyway. I like Shinji, and it's nothing against him, but they should have planned something around Tay and TJ, even if she still goes out in 3rd

i get why they made it a 1v1v1 final because on paper shinji is a really cool popular character and so they wanted him there but his presence de-escalated the tj vs tay emotions not just for the audience but for themselves
I wouldn’t say de-escalated them, it put a halt to their whole arc. If it’s TJ and all the freeloaders vs Tay that’s kino, but when it’s 2vs1 on the “good” side, that’s not satisfying. The freeloaders can push the direction of the finale, but a whole other fish, that is on TJs side taking away Tays points every round, well that just kills any chance of a satisfying conclusion to their story.
Do the Swamp Olympics earlier (4 or 5 days before the finale). Put physical challenges first and then a flurry of speech/small games to put Tay and TJ up front. Kick him out when he's last.
Honestly, the three-way finale was a mistake because they spent too much time fricking over each other. A 2 people finale with only pure competition and not just a boxing match would have been great.
If you put it that way then Trish should've been there, make it Shinji vs TJ and Trish vs Tay. It would've been a satisfying end to Trish's rivalry with Tayleigh anyway and set up TJ vs Tay in the finals because Trish had a very good relationship with TJ and was his only friend there. Jesus Christ, It's frustrating to know how the wiggers threw away what potential the show had.
That would have been nice, like a full day of challenges where TJ and Tay formed balanced teams with the freeloaders and did group challenges like CTF or tug of war. At least it would have been better that having them hanging around as npcs for shitty perks like hassling or scoreboard telling.
The finale was such a wasted opportunity, even more after Bex and Max busted their asses setting the stage so nicely.
