How would the story be different if Korra was born as the spoiled daughter of rich waterbenders in Republic City?
We don't have that kind of tropes as main characters in the western animation. Closest examples I can think of is one of the horse show, and maybe Toph from Avatar?
Do you have any examples of something like that in anime and manga?
She probably still be bisexual (I think most of the female avatars are actually) and it's not like she is in far from Power without being the avatar to begin with. I mean if it wasn't for her uncle scheming her dad would have been king of one of the two Arctic water tribes.
I had to google, the name of the anime is Jormungand, and the main characters fit the description IIRC
Toph's character has nothing to do with being rich. If it did Toph would have nothing to do with Anng as she already would have had everything she wants.

I've always thought that if her father hadn't left and Korra was born and raised as a Water Tribe princess, she'd be fairly similar to IDW's take on the nocturnal diarch: bombastic and gregarious with the commonfolk while also being totally oblivious to how the other half lives.

But what is this spoiled rich girl thing anyway? What does it imply? How could it work in order to tell a story?
It sounds a character with talents but overconfident and conceited. Main characters are usually regular people and/or outcast. I guess it is easier to understand their struggles that way. Korra made something like that in the frist seasons, she was in a city she didn't understand, she couldn't work with airbender.
So making a spoiled rich main character in an adventure show could be tricky.
