On the one hand, Saw X is a great foundation to build on. On the other, the series seems to be at a crossroads.

Stop beating around the bush and just retcon John Kramer dying, that's what everybody really wants
The actor is too old. They need to pass the torch. Saw is already a franchise about the cycles of violence and the power of realization that comes from heruka deities, so it makes sense to have more apprentices and convertees. If anything they should make a Saw that takes place in the far future where a Thugee/Voodun-like cult forms around Jigsaw and society is shaped by people who believe self mutilation is the path to salvation.
There's just something about these threads/this content that attracts the most high quality and creative people.

He is getting up there in years though. At this point, it seems like the options are to do a Gordon vs. Hoffman trilogy or try something out there and experimental. Say, an expanded cinematic universe, a JigCU of sorts.

Would the new AI doll still be relatively serious, or would it also have impish trickster characteristics?
In my mind it's just John Kramers spirit as a ghost doll so it would act pretty similar to how he did before he died, maybe as time goes on his ethereal form corrupts him and he becomes more sinister in a trickster sort of way.
I think that's kind of the interesting Trinity-esque construction. You have John Kramer and JigC on two opposite poles and Billy somewhere in the middle.
