Trouble with that is that it requires a lot of writing talent to keep people engaged with small plots while building up the main plot. And you can't do too many episodes without your main star (Homelander) or the actor will just frick off for something better. This isn't like back in the day where you could just pull random high profile actors in to do episodes years apart
I disagree. They blew their load with Homelander too early and since he is popular they are now wheel spinning. Many shows could do the odd one and done episodes and still have overall plots. It would be very easy to do with the amount of episodes they have. They could have easily balanced it.
