Viv really can't write any couple and make them feel "real", she's just god awful at romance trained only by AO3 tier writing and not knowing how actual bonds happen. Even something as simple as M&M feels like an awfully basic understanding of how "married couples work". HuskerDust is just another Stolitz, terribly toxic because both of the people are awful and hopefully one of them gets killed off by the end of the season.
Huskerdust is better than Stolitz for now because with these two the melodrama is done and their conflict has been dealt with in an episode.
They have a clear understanding with each other that Blitzo and Stolas don't and that's been getting dragged for episodes on end since the pilot.
It could always get worse in the future but for now it's not as bad as Stolitz.

As a romantic couple I say this doesn't work. There is no chemistry there and Angel flirting with Husk does NOT equal chemistry, Angel crying and Husk looking sad is not some breakthrough in their relationship and them having a song doesn't mean they have a believable or well developed romance.
But I think it could work as Husk maybe being older brother/parental figure to Angel. Him being someone who puts some harsh truths on Angel to help him grow the frick up.
