Fun designs and 'delivery service' is a premise that has legs, but awful title. There's also an awkwardness with it being PIGS serving pizzas that you'd have to force the audience to ignore, though to be fair, Kyle was probably forced into make them anthropomorphic characters for his pitch to even be listened to these days.

Regardless, I've seen this screenshot shared before. I don't think Kyle is in the wrong here. This looks like it was shared directly to Kyle on Facebook. Feel free to dislike things and express that publicly if you want, but there's no reason to harass creators like that. People seem to get this weird impression that creators have to just sit and take verbal abuse because their work is publicly viewable. Kyle isn't wrong...Chris was being rude as shit.

That aside, the comments the dude made were not constructive. He simply indicated that he hated it. That's not going to help an artist grow; it just tears them down. On top of that, offering critiques to someone who didn't ask for it is a turbo-tard move. I don't expect you of all people to understand that.

                > A true artist makes to tell a story not get the prestige of being a cartoonist.
You’re thinking of a writer. A writer might just want to tell the story in whatever medium, but if an animator who studied and loves animation wants to make a cartoon so they can see their ides animated, I think it’s understandable that a comic or game wouldn’t scratch the itch. Not everyone who likes cartoons also likes games or comics.

Why do anons try to come up with rules for what “true artists” do or don’t do. It’s all bullshit.

He’s already had a show so he’s proven he can do it, and he storyboards for a living. It’s not like he’s struggling to get established. He doesn’t *have* to do anything else. I think he wants to do another show but if not it seems like he’s content to keep storyboarding. I really don’t understand why people think he would need to branch out into other mediums.

Well if you're smaller, a comic could help an artist get attention and showcase their ideas. The problem with Kyle is that his ideas are bad.

                >Critical feedback is key to becoming a successful artist
They're professional artists. For all intents and purposes, they already are successful.
That aside, the comments the dude made were not constructive. He simply indicated that he hated it. That's not going to help an artist grow; it just tears them down. On top of that, offering critiques to someone who didn't ask for it is a turbo-tard move. I don't expect you of all people to understand that.

Even if you think that him stating that he doesn't like the show was the "wrong move" Kyle still pushes the situation way beyond what's necessary and is unprofessional when he could just simply ignore the comment, which is the less autistic move from him, instead of sending more hate to this person. How do you even defend something like this? You're trolling right? Or are you actually Kyle?

                Anonymous

                >Kyle still pushes the situation way beyond what's necessary
if this were just a random comment tweeted at him on twitter or something I'd 100% agree with you, but in this case Kyle let this guy into his private inner circle by accepting his friend request on facebook. He's establishing boundaries by telling this rando that his behavior would not be accepted in that specific social sphere. Having boundaries is healthy.

In the public, artists do have to let things slide off their backs to a certain extent, but in this case the guy was granted access to a private and personal space which, as pointed out, was a privilege. I think it's acceptable for artists to create clear expectations of how people should behave if they want to continue having access to that particular private space.

I get what you're saying that money shouldn't be everything, but being a showrunner objectively does pay better. The low end would be like $30k - $40k per episode. Huge hits (typically blockbuster live action shit like Game of Thrones) can net something more like $100k - $300k per episode.

Nope they have to meet the pizza quota or THEY get served as pizza! They have side characters like the their highschool age coworker who works the register acting as an occasional straight man to jokes or the wacky janitor Smiggles who gives them ancient piggy wisdom. Their boss Boris Von 'Za can also turn pig mode but he's more of a warthog type of pig. He's also a wacky cannibal, and is depicted eating processed pig meat products to the disgust of our heroes. Every episode they have to deal with rude customers trying to slow them down so they can get their pizza for free or other unrelated entities causing set backs that keep them from delivering their orders to meet their quota.

I think he's pretty terrible actually. But I just find it humorous that everyone here mocks his tenacity at getting another show on the air, but calls it based when anyone else does similar things. What's wrong exactly with preferring to get another animated show on the air instead of having even more trouble making a living in a medium he doesn't care nearly as much about?

you forgot the second part. It's easy to put an indie game out. Not nearly as easy to make it profitable.

          This.
          https://gameworldobserver.com/2022/11/29/median-indie-game-earnings-steam-barely-over-1000

Should be noted that things like Undertale already had a strong support network (Homestuck/MSPA, Starman and its offshoot Fangamer etc.) to help propel it to the success it is. Most indies would kill to have such a similar sort of backing.

      > What's wrong exactly with preferring to get another animated show on the air instead of having even more trouble making a living in a medium he doesn't care nearly as much about?
Most anons have never had any sort of artistic success whatsoever, so to in their minds you're supposed to take whatever you can possibly get. That includes drawing porn, making a game, making a graphic novel, etc. They don't realize that once you've actually established yourself and have a career going, it's less about what you *have* to do and more about what you *want* to do.

Kyle makes a living storyboarding on other productions. Sure, he'd love to have another show on TV, but it seems like if it doesn't happen, he'd be content to continue storyboarding. He doesn't have to make a game or comic nor does he want to.

        Anonymous

But, to make a comic in your free time will not kill him; if you are artist, you have to create.

          Anonymous

Anon's point is Kyle has a stubborn vision of making a cartoon, so he refuses to take a consolation prize of just making a comic of his ideas. In the fairest reading, it could be that his ideas don't work in another medium or at the very least not as well. However Kyle very much feels like someone who wants to be an animator over a storyteller. He's constantly pitching ideas so he can have a show, not he wants a show to tell his stories.

That's a point, but, in that way you get empty shows that the Time will forget, Mighty Magiswords, cof, cof...

              Anonymous

I agree, but it's ultimately what he wants but it's probably also why he's just going to keep pitching predominantly shit that has no point and hoping that'll be his second break.

          > if you are artist, you have to create.
nope. You make a comic if you want to make a comic. Who the frick says that animators have to make comics in their free time? After spending all day storyboarding you want to come home, crack open a beer, and watch some shit on youtube like everyone else does after they get done with their job.

If Kyle was struggling to get any sort of attention on his art I could see pushing that "you gotta do what you gotta do" mentality, but he already has a career in the field of his choice.

I think the only people who wouldn't get this are either failed artists or are aspiring but haven't gotten a foothold yet. Once you actually get regular work and it's become a career for you, you stop doing things because you have to and start choosing to do things because you want to. Kyle likes working on cartoon pitches. He doesn't like working on comics. Simple as.

I understand that if a person has a job, the person want to use his free time relaxing and resting, the adults do not have time for fantasies.
But there are the next three points.

            * First, Charles Baudelaire says in The Painter of Modern Life that the artists in the beggining of this career has make sacrifice, because, by example, he try sell this creation in $200 and he do not want sell it in cheaper price ($100), he will sell it in $50 tomorrow.
            * Second, France.
            * Are you affirming that an artist person is less artist he create artwork being a failed artist, or else he works for company and he do not creat nothing?
            * I understand that Kyle has a dream, but, he should watch the movie Soul and understand that not all dreams are factible.

              * what the frick is that English?
              * Kyle is not at the beginning of his career
              * He’s already attained his dream of having a show. His dream was “factible”. Now he wants to do it again

Then why hasn’t Danny Antonucci made a comic? John K? Maxwell Atoms? It wouldn’t kill them to make a comic in their free time either.
Some people are really into animation.

We're not mocking his tenacity, we're mocking his inability to learn from his failures.
He's essentially pitching the same thing over and over again, just changing the setting into concepts that look like he was just throwing darts at the wall.
And this is after he'd already gotten Mighty Magiswords made and it flopped. "Mighty Magiswords, but it's a burger and an orange" isn't going to do any better.
But he insists that if he just gives it a new coat of pain, his Wacky Man and Wacky Girl cartoon will totally work this time.

        Anonymous

I think if his goal was simply to get A show made, you're right - he should alter his approach. In his case, I don't think he wants to simply make any show...he wants to do a Wacky Man/Wacky Girl show. The market is not interested in that concept at all, but if creating these ideas is fun for him I could understand why he'd continue lobbing that hail Mary shot.

It's kind of like people who buy scratch-off lotto tickets. If they were serious about getting rich they'd probably do something else like save money, go to school, climb a corporate ladder or start a business, etc. In their case, they really enjoy dreaming for a few minutes while they scratch the tickets. I think creating these characters is probably fun for him, but I doubt most of them are ever seriously pitched to networks. They always feel much more like an exercise in impulsive creativity - just make something quickly without thinking about it too much. That's an incredibly important skill to have and something that needs to be practiced. It's kind of like a musician making a quick loop for tik tok as opposed to a full track that gets a proper release. The burger and shake characters feel more like a warm up "jam", while concepts like Moobeard are more of a serious pitch.

Kyle is ugly. His weird, toothy smile and porkchop sideburns bug me. He's slovenly and fat. He is uncomfortable to look at. His art doesn't do him any favors either.

      >He's slovenly and fat
I think this is like 98.999% of what makes most haters perceive him negatively. If he was average sized and didn't have those giant mutton chops, I feel like people would barely pay attention to anything he's been doing post Mighty Magiswords.

If he looked like less of an ogre, people would like him more. Also if he did pitches other than "fat guy who dresses like he does and quirky girl do wacky things". Variety is the spice of life. And much like his diet, there's no variety in his work.

Is this even a serious pitch? Piggis MacNamara kind of looks and dresses like Kyle. I could totally see this being a one-off joke. He was hanging out with a friend and they were super hungry and chowing down on pizza, someone makes a self-deprecating joke about how they're a couple of pizza piggies, and then Kyle drew this as a "pitch" but mostly as a joke for his friend.

She was a ticking time-bomb of problematic behavior and Kyle cut ties with her when he found out. It's not like he told other people some deep dark secret...she was just blasting this shit out into the universe and he made other people aware of that fact.

Unless you mean it in a secular cliche kind of way like find jesus, you had me until "finds god," religion only makes people less happy than they could be, and all the positive aspects of it can be obtained with changes in secular worldview/philosophy. To be clear, I'm not a homosexual leftist, I am generally extremely right wing, and I hate trannies, think black people are entitled morons and believe that israelites definitely manipulate published science to suit their agenda. My hatred of libtard shit is their undermining of science, not them undermining my heckin precious metaphysical entity and muh western civilization meme

I kinda get it. Fans can be the fricking worst. Most other jobs don't get running commentary and critiques from dumbasses who have no idea what the frick they're talking about. Most jobs you can go to work, come home, and unwind, but with entertainment focused stuff you'll get random dweebs constantly bothering you for shit.
