Yeah, it's pretty good. Give the first 3 episodes a watch and decide whether it's for you or not. Even if the overall feel of the show isn't to your liking, the animation and music are pretty easy to appreciate.

You need to pay attention, it's very show don't tell and doesn't explain anything straight to your face. The mystery is only gradually revealed to the characters at the same time as the viewer, so you only know what the characters know and you have to put what's happening together. It's not unnecessarily deep or complex or anything, you just need to know that you should be taking note of anything that comes up and think "What's the reason for showing this? What does this mean?" because nothing is shown in the show without a reason. I'd recommend just rewatching and putting the mystery together yourself, it's a fun extra level to the show that feels satisfying when it finally clicks and you understand what's happening.
That's a poor excuse for not telling a story correctly.

The pacing is off for me. How is this supposed to be weird or scary if they rush every line? And the characters seem very one dimensional, like they have only one emotion and that's it.

I give it a mostly good/10. I know it's a low bar but It looks fantastic by indie animation standards, honestly better then some modern """Professional""" TV CGI stuff (Black Lotus or Gen:Lok aren't exactly lookers). The characters are all deranged in a good way, I like a lot of the designs, there's a fair amount of funny bits to it as well, mostly Kinger.
I think my main gripe is it leans way too hard into the horror aspect of it, stuff like this or Ragatha glitching out just made me roll my eyes. Like
said some stuff feels like it was deliberately engineered to attract youtube theories when stuff like gloink queen is more fun to me. I would have gone the Bugbo route of being slightly off-putting instead.

That's how shows extend the life of their content now. It's not so much about being deep or anything, people just want to hear each others speculations and entertain themselves until the next episode comes out. DHMIS did this well because it didn't lean on it's "theorytainment" too much and you could enjoy watching each episode as is without looking deeper for it to be fun.
The Don't Hug Me I'm Scared show had a great balance between horror and comedy that was very digestible.
It helps that it didn't take itself remotely seriously

Ragatha glitching was bad but I don't think it was really supposed to be "scary" (I mean her face turns into Pong at one point (which was funny)) but the dialog was Borderland tier in this part, the line "I'm just gonna go... get help, you stay here... not that you can move or anything" almost physically hurt me.
The part with Pomni in the office didn't drag out too long and gave some time to breath from the circus' antics so it was fine imo it also establishes some backstory

The story's salvageable. The main issue with it is more like direction. Timing, lighting, mood. That and there's a non-trivial amount of technical skill required to imbue a creepy Windows 95 vibe into something made with modern animation software. In a sense, that stuff's been engineered to specifically *not* produce that vibe.

i found out about it because a friend of mine started posting characters from it all over the place. the animation was really good (as is to be expected from gooseworx) but i was very surprised to find that i didn't find it especially funny when i really enjoyed her previous stuff. i think it's because of the much, much larger amount of dialogue in this.

I watched the pilor. It was ok, closer to meh, for me. Can't say much about the story or the characters, didn't really care for either. The setting and the character design was charming though, felt like something out of NiGHTS, which I really liked. The animation looked good too.

This criticism is going to sound autistic. Know going into this post that I don't think it's a major issue, just something I noticed and disliked.
I don't like how you can tell this was animated in blender. Any time where a character does a stiff/intentionally buggy pose, it's the type of bugginess you'd see with animation software, not in game engines. It slaps my immersion around a bit because in setting it's supposed to be real time digital but it's very clearly had to have been rendered at slower than real time.
The hardware the circus runs on has some not-magic bullshit cheat components, so let that smooth over the rough edges.
