I am unironically crying. This might be the greatest piece of American animation ever. Total kino.

Yeah I'm not into Don Bluth or his movies too much but everything in this movie was worth it for the ending, just a real well done emotional scene.

I thought the whole thing was excellent, but yes, the ending was incredible. I immediately knew that it wasn't Disney and it was a little darker than what I'm used to from American animation, but I honestly did not expect the ending. Excellent fricking scene.

Oh yeah, another big thing I liked about this movie was Charlie himself. I watched it thinking he was going to be kind of shady but still safe and admirable, and then be over the top redeemed kind of like Nick in zootopia, but honestly I feel like he stays pretty scummy and bad throughout the whole movie and it feels more true to life. It makes the moment of him having a heart of gold much much more impactful though, it was refreshing seeing a "shady guy goes nice" character not veer off into being too goody and it really made the ending more heartbreaking and meaningful.

    >Charlie half-assed his final rescue of Anna Marie to try and save her and the watch
I liked that. Showed he wasn't a true blue hero and probably why he went to Hell first before this visit.

Are there seriously people who did not watch All Dogs Go to Heaven as children, but instead experienced it for the first time as adults?

it's an insult to this movie what they did with sequels and series. this movie balanced the childish and dark tones very well, it's my all time favorite movie if i can add that. charlie is not entirely a goody two-shoes from start to finish and he still wasn't entirely selfless as he wasn't willing to risk his watch to save the girl but had no choice at the last minute and chose to save her. Also perhaps i misinterpreted the last scene but i believe charlie stopped death from taking her life while she sleeps because i doubt they would allow him to escape hell to make his goodbyes, he by the end became not just her guardian dog but also her guardian angel. goddamn i'll watch it today now

Even sadder ending given the whole thing with Anne Marie’s actress and this movie being released after her death
