It didn't but studios are starting to realize that people who recognize a brand are more likely to actually invest in a film from the beginning instead of needing a ton of plot devices to keep their engagement. They're also more likely to be watching in good faith instead of immediately trying to take the piss out of it. Something like Taxi Driver couldn't be made today.
