Amoeba can be animals, or fungi, or (I think) plants. You're probably thinking of bacteria, which are another type of life altogether.

No they aren't. They can be Plant-like or Animal-like in cell composition but cannot be plants or animals it is a founding definition of their kingdom to be multi-cellular.

I had to look that one up, but "a eukaryote that isn't one of the other types" is a vague enough definition that I suspect the argument for or against is somewhat arcane and arbitrary and we have no real reason to disagree.
