Damon saw he flopped fullhouse and nearly fell of the chair. Then he tried to damage control the situation by checking and pretending like nothing happened
Chess because it isn't gambling. That's why top level chess players play against computers, it's a game where a person can map out nearly every outcome once youve played enough.
Poker is still gambling. As skilled as you are, a big part of that skill is keeping your cool while playing around odds of the game. You can just get fricked sometimes even if you're great.
The reason top poker players don't play against computers is because computers aren't good at playing poker yet lol.
By these standards poker is much harder to learn.
Computers can't bluff, so poker becomes a game of pure odds at that point. Chess you scratch your ass with your left hand and a master will be like "I see, the Nikolai bum-itch, mate in 5"
Nah, Shart Damon was a noobie who was obvious. You only establish those kinds of mind games if you were pulling it off before, not when you're fresh fish.
They exist. The top guys are constantly playing in the highest level tournaments. The game is about playing optimally consistently. You get screwed sometimes due to the nature of the game but thats just poker
The final tables of most big tournaments almost always have a handful of the top rated players along with some guys who may just be on a really lucky streak. Being a good poker player is about playing correctly consistently. Poker is fun to watch because it's really the only activity where you can see a world class pro go up against a literal who in a serious competition with huge money on the line and still not be entirely sure how it's gonna turn out in the end, although most likely in a scenario like that the world class player will probably win, there's still a decent chance that they may just get really unlucky, the literal who may just get really lucky, or the literal who may actually just have a good read on the world class player and outplay them that day. In any other game/sport a situation like that either doesn't happen or it's just a complete blow out to the point that it's not even interesting to watch.

You are horribly wrong and mutilated in the brain but to each their own
qrd?
between poker and chess
whats harder to learn ?
Probably chess. The hardest part of poker is dealing with the swings from bad beats and playing correctly and still losing.

Where’s that moron that said the hands with the aces couldn’t possibly beat Damon? You think I forgot about you?
I'm here and I still stand behind my extremely obvious point, don't know why you have such a hard time understanding/believing
a single: king, 9, ace, or 8 would have beaten damon
Do you not know how poker works?
i do know how poker works, do you?
unless the table or dealer states otherwise, pairs in full houses play a role
Then how the frick could
>a single: king, 9, ace, or 8 would have beaten damon
beat Damon’s full boat?
ONLY RUNNING kings or aces could beat Damon
Literally only a queen and Jack could have beaten damon
I don't know anything about poker, can someone explain why this was bad?
moron was giving away a strong hand with his body language.
Ever heard of a little thing called reverse psychology? Or game theory? I know that you know that I know that you know etc

He should have raised at some point.
He’s a professional actor and he has an incredibly bad poker face. That is pretty funny
I fold.
Do good poker players actually exist or are the popular players purely a result of chance out of the millions of plays happening every day?

>want to make a larger version of this
>the video has been scrubbed clean from the web
Yeah, good luck finding many 2000s poker clips. Most of my favorite hands are gone from youtube.
Listen, here's the thing. If you can't spot the sucker in your first half hour at the table, then you ARE the sucker.
The movie I watched at 16 that turned me into a lifelong piece of shit degenerate gambler.
Why do the commentators refer to Damon's call as "creative"? Is his hand so bad that he should've folded?
>world series of poker got better ratings than NHL games
lol
