I call this "jingling the car keys".
When a baby is about to cry, you jingle keys at it so it giggles, claps and forgets why it was sad/scared.
Every time a writer undercuts drama, tragedy or fear with a stupid quip, they're jingling keys at the audience like they're babies.
I want him to get brutally strangled and be told a joke when he's about to die so he will do so seeing how "funny" telling a joke is in certain moments.
> They say "choke me, daddy", but daddies are overrated and soft AF because they hold back.
dude shoulda died after Buffy was over
didn't we just have this exact thread twice earlier this week?
Yes

Actually quite a few more times than that. This guy/bot rotates and sometimes adds some variations to the OP post. Usually involves something about cringe, quips, sincerity. You can tell after a while even with the variations since the underlying pattern is the same.
You're projecting how you Slop Defenders behave because all you care about is worshiping corporations for your career.
Oh look the reputational gore tactic, you know really expensive movies are good when you need to try to ruin the lives of critics
Gonna start queering out?
This sort of b***hing always pops up in threads that criticize things like the MCU - reminder that you are a coward who can't come up with a better response than this. You respond like a baby
So you're the one making those posts huh
>guy reuses an old post
>gets mad when people point it out
lol
Quit trying to interpret other people, you aren't insightful like me
>Reusing the same post makes that post wrong
Yeah that is a popular meme phrase used to mean literally anything the user dislikes
i agree with OP, but there can be times where it looks like jingling the car keys but works really fricking well because it isn't
Age of Apocalypse didn't have any jokes and it was great
Uncanny X-Force only had jokes because Deadpool was in it. it worked because it wasn't jangling the car keys since such would expected from deadpool. also deadpool becomes a serious character and his social interactions with kid apocalypse are an extremely poignant juxtaposition in relation to apocalypse and dead man wade
You sound like a pretentious, insufferable moron.
not OP
you sound like a pretentious, insufferable moron.
Because I like good writing? Stay mad I guess.
You could have just said "buh i am a fricking dumb baby i don't want to critically think give me my fricking binkie mommy" and been done with it.
>critically think
I always want to punch people that use this expression because by "thinking critically" they always mean "start disliking the same things I do". Even though real critical thinking is not about being critical of something you inherently dislike, it's about being skeptical of the things that actually appeal to you. I'm so tired of normies like you using words the way it's convenient to them and spreading false meanings. have a nice day.
You're only saying this because you're mad at criticism.
I'm only saying this because I gave myself neurosis back when I was a 16-year old because I thought all that talk about "critical thinking" actually meant something, when in reality all the normies that used this term allowed themselves to not think critically about the things and ideas that appeal to them. Hypocrites, I wish I could strangle them all.
Oh my God you made this fricking thread this week already!
Now I see why people think you're obnoxious
I think Joss was being hyperbolic when he said this I don't think he intended for every single dramatic scene to end with someone honking their nose he had some nuance to it. It's the writers and directors afterwards that bastardized his style
Reminder that Joss Whedon ripped off Peter David's writing style.
