It’s completely baffling to me how people wouldn’t just assume Justin roiland was a huge weirdo doing socially unacceptable things. You have to be that to create a show like this and play Rick and morty. That’s the whole point. You have to be unhinged yourself to make it entertaining or else it just turns into this and no one watches. It’s like they don’t understand that you can’t fake being unhinged. Networks have to be okay working with these creeps and just chalk up their behavior to their eccentric personalities, move on, and continue letting them do their thing for the sake of the ratings. It’s the whole ‘I don’t care what Michael Jackson does with the kids as long as he keeps making music’ thing you’d hear sometimes like 20 years ago.
this, i watched the first episode and now it's just a stale boring ass adult cartoon without any edge. Now i'm not saying the show with Roiland was particular good, but there was nothing funny about this episode. Nothing. And before it always had a certain absurdist type of comedy that was kinda funny.

You don't understand, the issue isn't viewers but advertisers. They don't want to put adverts on a time slot where main talent is walking around with something like a domestic abuse case in his past even if it was dismissed. Brands simply don't want to be associated with this kind of stuff on any level. Without the advertising dollars the show can have a billion viewers and be a complete loss to the network.
Its the same shit that happened with youtube during the adpocalypse advertisers in general realized that there was a lot of edgy shit on youtube and their adverts were on those videos. They pull out of youtube entirely and suddenly the amount of money people make on youtube craters because there's simply less money coming into the site. The view counts could've been the same or even higher than before.
