He definitely killed people during his journey though.
name a single person he killed
i have watched this show for like 20 years at least once a year
i just watched ATLA 1-3 and korra 1-4 over the last 3 days, and i'm rewatching ATLA s01 again
aang is cool cause he doesnt kill anyone
korra killed hundreds though no doubt
also ATLA season 1 and korra season 3 are in a league of their own
>Gyatso killed dozens of Firebenders in defense of himself and his people even though he had a much gentler disposition and spiritual importance than Aang
>Aang cannot kill inarguably the most evil Firebender around now someone
SC was nearly flawless until this came up.
Aang was never really one for philosophy. I'm sure there is some in universe obscure text that talks about how self-defense and defense of others doesn't make one "worldly." Makes sense since Aang also never learned how to fly, despite being le airbending master.
What's the point of killing an unarmed and powerless man? Aang already won. Who benefits from murder after the war is over? You guys seem like the type who believe in "Nazi hunting" and tracking down random old people who are of no threat to anyone so you can torture them for your own sick sadistic pleasure. Aang was right.
He was only powerless because of a nonsensical deus ex asspull
He was powerless because his army was defeated and his weapons were taken away from him, stop getting caught up in the lore, it's all just a metaphor. He was powerless and no longer a threat, to go further and kill or torture him after the fact would be israeli sadism. Grow up.
torture would be going too far, but euthanizing a murderous warlord is justice, regardless of whether or not he's currently "powerful". the only thing "israeli" here is you trying to convince others that bad people don't deserve commensurate justice for committing evil acts.
That's the point, Aang is even more dedicated to the philosophy than Gyatso. Maybe if Aang actually faced the genocide he would be tempted.
More like Aang didn’t study it deeply like his master did. Aang never achieved true mastery of any element, let alone air. It is implied that an avatar actually cannot do so since their spirit is partially mixed with the material world.
Aang isn’t necessarily more dedicated ideologically, he just uses that as an excuse to himself. The fact of the matter is aang is a child who, instead of manning up and overcoming his fears, receives a get out of jail free card at the last minute in order to save the day. He ends with little to no character development, hence why everyone is dissatisfied.
Did killimg Osama Bin Laden save America? Nope, it didn't do shit and you're too stupid for even a children's show.
>irrelevant allegory
>ad hominem
Why are you so upset?
Because you bloody thirsty golems are a plague.
Okay schizo
Aang is a 10 year old
>if I kill him I’m just as bad as him
>can’t I show mercy?
>let’s disregard the hundreds of people I killed on the way here and let’s ponder this question while I have the most evil one in front of me
GTAivDecisionFlowchart.png
its not about killing one person, the fire nation and ozai attacked because of their belief in power and domination as the solution to all problems. aang has to find a solution that doesn't reproduce the core of the problem. He's a buddhist monk. Taking away ozais power is a perfect ending.
this is blatantly obvious to anyone over 12
stop replying to moronic bait threads
But in order to take away his power Aang had to completely overpower him first.
doesn't taking away his power make Aang more powerful than him and thus feed into Ozai's philosophy?
>dabs on ur no-kill protagonist
FRICK
He didn't kill him
I wonder if it's really okay to teach people to stubbornly stick to their principles (feels) beyond reason rather than do what must be done. In reality there won't be copouts and asspulls so you can eat cake and have it too, you'll just fail and your selfishness will be regretted.
The goal is to make the population impotent.
>In reality there won't be copouts and asspulls
sometimes there are

Aang is canonically the worst avatar since he didn't just level Republic City and give it back to the earth kingdom, thereby restoring balance. Even Korra was better than him.
I understand it was a kid show and I don't want it to be a Game Of Thrones type adaptation, but the no killing rule got really stupid by season 3, especially with the invasion and the end of the war.
Even if Aang didn't kill the Fire Lord, why couldn't the other characters?
What is the point of killing a powerless man who is already defeated? Why do you want to see that?
Politics. He still had sway in the fire nation.
Politics? His army was defeated, he lost and was gping to be put in prison. After so much bloodshed, why more? You are lower than animals, you are nothing more than golems who lust for blood. The show was too mature for you.
Jesus, not often you see such a case of pseudo intellectualism. In reality he would have been hanged for his crimes.
>would have
We're not talking about what would have happened, magic isn't real in the real world either, this is about erhics and morality. Aang is a spiritual messiah, he's above nonsense like revenge and sadism, he isn't a dirty little israeli monkey like you.
Like why did Sokka safely dropped the crew in the water?
How did the White Lotus didn't kill anyone during the retake of Ba-Sing-Tse?
How did no one die during the invasion?
I understand the character arc of Aang not killing since that's his culture/religion, and that the Deus Ex was actually planned just never well executed, but even if you take Aang out, the suspension of disbelief gets stretched really thin.
Sadly the new series will overcompensate by adding a ton of fricking and killing.
>sexism bad
>wanton murder? Good
Bizarre messaging
Frankly this, I don't want Avatar to be the R-Rated mess they're planning either, but, the original show would've benefited of being at least PG, instead of the TV-Y7 it originally was, I mean, it barely fit that rating anyways.
Of course the /misc/cel runs to defend the genocidal psychopath kek
Reminder that he dropped several tanks of a cliff in season 1, not to mention decimating the navy at the north pole.
Tanks can be explained with "no one actually died bro, they totally climbed out first" GI Joe rules. Aang was in the avatar state when he turned into water godzilla so it's not his fault.
The show takes place during a global war yet only two people ever die (both offscreen). This is entirely a consequence of being on nickolodeon. As a sidenote, zuko was the real main character.
Zuko would have absolutely fricked Katara at least once btw. Just saying. They were both in heat while Aang's balls had barely dropped.
>Zuko absolutely fricked Azula
ftfy
Azula was gay according to the creators.
>two deaths
Combustion man and Zhao? Are we not counting Jet?
I forgot the combustion man. Three then.
How did Korra get away with all the killing?
Zaheer was le evil even though he was the most compelling and unique villain. Like seriously the series should have started with him.
Weren't they uploading episodes to their website at this point?
>gets two separate deus ex machina to solve his personal no win scenario
You could fix the entire finale by having Aang already accepting that he needs to kill the Firelord and his moral dilemma instead being that he doesn't know how he's going to live with himself after going through with it; seeking wisdom from his past lives on how to live with the effect that taking or losing a life has, and the impact that their successes and failures had on their own legacies as Avatars; realizing that their approach of the past Avatars failed to bring lasting peace.
The decision to not kill Ozin then becomes less of Aang being a giant pacifist pussy and more Aang wanting to establish a different kind of legacy for the Avatar.
Aang was a very weak person. Korra had to clean up most of his shit after he died because he was so obsessed with le air nomad culture.
That’s a solid alternative
Don't quit your day job, hack.
>i believe in god and weed is bad and jennifer butthole and brie larson and Denzel Washington is le epic black man and keanu is actually just a person and i know good and evil and god duhhhhh
holy shit everyone on Cinemaphile is like this. you guys are bottom of the barrel.
correction: you guys are a single step above normie which is also a single step above literally bottom of the barrel
you guys are like dirt. not poop or pure bacteria, but still
Not even the air monks were full "no killing" that air temple episode had an air bender corpse surrounded by fire nation soldiers
He was defending children, not assassinating a monarch.
These people exist by the way. They protest serial killers and rapists getting the death penalty on a daily basis.
Pretty sure the only person the fire lord raped was his daughter
Azusa is for free use
Korra paints a better picture for this. Aang was very self centered and more concerned with his own personal desires than doing what was actually best for other people. I.e ignoring two of his children and focusing entirely on Tenzin who actually hated Aang for pushing the Airbender legacy on him because he felt like he wasn't able to make his own choices in life.
Aang also allowed the globohomosexual republic city to exist instead of returning it (along with the rest of the globalist "republic") to the earth kingdom thereby causing Season 4 of Korra to happen.
Korra doesn't exist
She is hot and brown so she must exist.
Korra wasn't a bad show, just a bad sequel
To be fair Republic City was decided by all 4 nations as a testing ground for a place where people from all nations lived and worked together. Hence all the interracial couples and Mako and Bolin being having two different bending elements despite being related.
I don't think Aang was actually a bad father, he just cared a lot about preserving the air nomad philosophy. If Kya or Bumi had given a shit I'm sure he would have been happy to teach them about it even though they weren't airbenders. But instead they were just bitter that their dad spent more time with the kid who actually shared in what was important with him.
>To regain the Avatar state you must let go of your worldly attachments
>Your worldly attachments includes your personal sense of morality, your duty as the Avatar comes before your airbender philosophy
Then Aang just ignores that and gets poked in the back with a rock and everything works out
He always just activated it on accident, he just started banking on that.
Kinda weird how avatar is a world with nothing but asian people
