It's kind of a shit position for an actor, anyway. Obviously, you'll get more takers if you bet that board, but it's Matt Damon, so you won't give him much credit for bluffing. You would have to assume he has something.
>leans back >opens his eyes wide >pulls on his shirt collar >makes an audible gulp sound >makes the "white person walking past blacks" face >wipes sweat from brow >looks around the room devishly >clears his throat >"I check"
>>slow rolling is bad
Slow rolling is the worst rudest thing you can do in Poker. You meant to say slow playing presumably. At the end of the day no one else had anything here so wasn't going to make that much, he played it well enough(maybe he should have fired off another bet but it's easy enough to say that in hindsight)-though the abysmal acting from Damon is quite funny
Checking was the right move and the only option he had that wouldn't make everyone fold immediately.
His actual mistake was prior to that, when he saw his cards and could barely contain himself in his chair, making it obvious to everyone that he had a really strong hand. The fact that he's an actor is what made the situation funny.
>leans back >opens his eyes wide >pulls on his shirt collar >makes an audible gulp sound >makes the "white person walking past blacks" face >wipes sweat from brow >looks around the room devishly >clears his throat >"I check"
yep the only winning move in these games is to bet the highest and just rely on luck every time
if you ever go to a casino go to the 10 dollar slots with a 100 and just press max bet as fast as you can, you'll either lose everything (1oo dollars) or win 3000 dollars
the fricked up thing is that he's right. The house edge WILL get you if you gamble long enough. So it's actually better to gamble as much as you can as quickly as you can. If luck is on your side you'll win in your first few plays. A professional gambler once said something along the lines of "if they'd let me, I'd take every penny I had, go down to Vegas, and put it all on black."
people like to pretend like they're smart and doing math when an outcome happens but reality is you're just getting lucky and pretending like you did something to arrive there

>red 45% favorite to win >white 55% favorite to win >you win 5.5 times out of 10 statistically if you bet on white >instead of gambling your 10k and go all in, bet fraction of that cash >repeat until you are bored/people leave the table/you get shot because fish thought you are cheating
I simplified general idea of correct poker as much as possible. 90%+ of people in live tournaments are recreational players, they just know basic rules that allow them to play aka gamble. But the game is more complex than that, there are many factors to consider in analysis whether to make a move and which one: your place at the table, position, size of your stack, size of other people stacks, how many people at the table, how many people in the game/stage of tournament, number of people acting before me and after me, your range (list of hands you can profitably play in given situation), their ranges, outs, odds etc. The more factors you include in your game and the more optimal decisions you make based on analysis, the better your odds, unless you get to play with people who do the same thing or even worse - they do it subconsciously thanks to experience, then the odds might get more or less equated or be against you. Then, it is gambling, assuming we define gambling as having negative odds or not sticking to bankroll rules, even when we got favorite odds (don't bet your 10k just because you are slight favorite if that is your life money)
Used to play before criminal government in my country banned poker because one of their MP's was laudering money with it. Not kidding.
my grandpa is a hermit that has payed for nearly every day of his life by daily going into the casino where he lives a few times a week
extremely based but seems stressful lol
I've heard of them. Some of those draw poker games have probably the worst payout vs your odds of getting a hand. Like they may pay you 500 to 1 for a Royal Flush but the odds of drawing that are 649,739 : 1.
Some of the big guys do this. Phil Ivey went all in the dark for about 100k against Patrick Antonius(and won) and there was an episode of Poker After Dark where they all (except Phil Helmuth) agreed to all put in 100k and go all in without looking
hahahha that was great, the guy wearing a hat is more b***hy than most women i know
dude cant say anything without being a passive aggressive pussy lmao

Are you playing for real money? You need real money on the line to avoid these losers who go all in, lose, leave, and go all in until they win by chance and get a hit of dopamine.
Trixie's such a stupid c**t. Probably a troony at that. Women have letdowns constantly while they're breastfeeding. They wear padding in their bras for exactly that reason.
>went to okay poker at casino >realize game is just luck based anyways >don’t even look at my cards >just check, raise or fold based on how I feel without looking at cards >actually won a table
Fricking morons, can’t call my bluff if I don’t know what I have idiot boomer
I've seen this meme for years but don't know anything about it or poker
I'm assuming it was a supremely bad play, but explain to a moron whats going on and why its been posted so long
He looks so disinterested when you watch this hand. Like he is not even pretending to care, like pretending he is just waiting for someone to raise so he can fold.
>hit me
>"ALL IN"
>Looks around the room seeking approval
>is a flush higher than a straight?
Better kino than will hunting

>yeah bro he should have bet, signaling he had a good hand to everyone else (who all would have folded with their shitty hands)
The moment he looked at his hand and nearly jumped from his chair already signaled to everyone he had the winning hand
>he must do the most predictable shit imaginable that was actually made fun of in the movie

Why though, Poker is one of the only Casino games you could reliably win at without cheating
where i live slots are illegal so they invented "poker slots" which is poker but with slots
yeah i dont know

This seems to be the metagame cheese whenever I play online with "real" players
That sounds like it would get quite annoying
Yeah it completely ruins the fun of the game.
Shut the frick up rookie, all in or nothing, 100k right now

Sure thing senpai

why is every video about Helmuth negative? when he has won more than any person. is it marketing "the brat?"
Yeah basically, he's like the villain in an Adam Sandler film
Trixie's such a stupid c**t. Probably a troony at that. Women have letdowns constantly while they're breastfeeding. They wear padding in their bras for exactly that reason.
Now that the dust has settled, who was in the wrong here?
Its poker. Bluffing is part of the game. Literally did nothing wrong.
But that's considered like, totally uncool man
