It was the right move. But the "hollywooding" he did at the turn is unbelievable considering he is a professional actor and then to top it off checking at the river is indefensible
I'm an idiot at poker but isn't the problem with checking here that there's already $12K In the pot? So bluffing would be stupid since everyone's already committed. You're better off just raising and hopefully getting more money
There's no reason to just check with a full house (three of a kind and a pair), only a 4 of a kind, a straight flush (5 sequential cards of the same symbol) and a royal flush (4 face cards and a 10 of the same symbol) beat it, so there's no reason not to be aggressive with such a powerful hand.
Combos containing 10s are fairly commonly played. There are 10s on the flop. Raising the flop is basically saying "i have a ten at least". No one can beat that. No one would have bet with him.
Checking on the flop and turn is a fine move in this case, but not making any move whatsoever on the river like he did is moronic. Then again the result probably would've been the same given how terrible his acting was.
I just now noticed that even if it was the only other 9 in the deck, the 9 of hearts, pair of queens guy would have won with a flush. That's some seriously bullshit luck.
theres a single card out of the entire deck that would save his opponent, that card happened to be drawn and he ran off in a rage so fast that by the time the camera cut back it appears as though he had been banished.
If he starts raising, he might scare everyone into folding. there is already a pair of 10s on flop, so for him to be raising, let's them all know he is either bluffing or has a 10. He is playing smart
>jaw drops to floor >eyes pop out of sockets accompanied by trumpets, heart beats out of chest >awooga awooga sound effect >pulls chain on train whistle that has appeared next to head as steam blows out >slams fists on table, rattling any plates, bowls or silverware >whistles loudly, fireworks shoot from top of head >pants loudly as tongue hangs out of mouth >wipes comically large bead of sweat from forehead, clears throat, straightens tie, combs hair
I check.
I just go all in every chance I get. I've never won a game but I also never need to play for long and I make the night more memorable. Which is all I'm looking for since poker sucks and is gay and I'm just there to drink the hosts beer and ogle his wife.
The meme is that he played a super strong band incredibly badly despite his "L337" acting skills. The reality is that all of his opponents had no hands and would have folded to anything from anyone.
What a shit poker face, you'd think actors would be better at that sort of thing
>It reminds me of Ben [Affleck] in Jersey Girl
That face is the least cringe thing he did during this hand.
Actors get multiple takes to do one shitty scene. They aren't the real talent in Hollywood anyways, it's directors, producers and editors.

you clearly don't play poker at all

>Wowza bobowza, a full FRICKING HOUSE!

It's the right move as long as you don't tell the entire table and their extended family that you just flopped the nuts.
>Talks about Erik Seidel in Rounders
>Ends up playing with him in the WSOP

>I homophobic

"That was a bad play son"
Min raise is the right move on every single flop. The other players will never know what you have. Prove me wrong.
I just go all in every chance I get. I've never won a game but I also never need to play for long and I make the night more memorable. Which is all I'm looking for since poker sucks and is gay and I'm just there to drink the hosts beer and ogle his wife.
Min raise is the same a check and also a strong indicator that the player has no clue what he is doing. You dont want your opponents to know that.
What's the right play here? Betting the flop, hoping that the other players will think they can use the pocket pair bluff?
check, hope someone catches something they can bet on on the turn or river. on the river make whatever size bet/raise you think someone will call
That makes sense.
come someone please give me a QRD of this poker game with Matt? Why is it a meme? What did he do wrong?
The meme is that he played a super strong band incredibly badly despite his "L337" acting skills. The reality is that all of his opponents had no hands and would have folded to anything from anyone.
check is unironically the correct play
If he bets out, he's announcing to the table that he has a big hand and they all instafold.
He's hoping someone else got a piece of the board and will bet and he can then check-raise
this meme only works if youve seen the video showing his bad acting
