Genuinely why did this Trolls tier movie mindbreak so many people? It's just Mario and friends jumping to Taylor Swift pop music for 2 hours. >IT'S WOKE >IT'S OVERLY SIMPLE AND NOT FOR ADULTS >THEY DIDN'T PUT IN JUNGLE JAPES FROM DONKEY KONG COUNTRY >WHY DO IS IT MAKING SO MUCH MONEY? I DON'T UNDERSTAND
To me, it’s the best case scenario at this point, because it wasn’t garbage. Not amazing, but it could’ve been way worse. If the rewrite rumors are true, it was going to be another “Female does everything and is the focus and the male gets shit on” movie, so at least Mario still got to be the focus.
That it would have built upon the teasing of Jungle Japes music in the scene before aside, Illumination soundtrack releases have a habit of featuring cut music more appealing then what ended up in the final product.
This godawful thing is the epitome of "Don't ask questions, just consume product, and then get excited for next product". Migration is much better and directed by an ACTUAL animator.
You actually have a point. As much as people praise those movies, there’s really not much to them at all when you take away the references and extremely aggressive meta stuff.
First movie is “Oh wow I’m no Spider-Man. Wait yes I am, I just need to do my own thing which is mainly just having extra powers and spray painting.”
Second movie is “Man being Spider-Man strains my family relationship. Oh wow look at all these Spiders, I’m not one of them I’m super duper different you guys I promise, look 2099 said it.”
Oh yeah I'm not trolling in the slightest. The mushroom kingdom inexplicably having power ups hidden in bricks is a complete nothing issue compared to how illogical and aggressively meta the Shit-verse films are. The entire plot of both films is the writers screaming at the audience that the ip they like needs a new mascot.
I expected literally nothing different, it's a safe bland movie for kids featuring Mario because Nintendo is hyper-protective of their IPs. If it was anything different I would have been shocked, but it's a 5/10 movie that was always going to be a 5/10 movie.
It was fine for what it was. It could’ve been a lot better without the clearly-Illumination pop music sequences, but it was enjoyable. Bowser was definitely the highlight.
Yeah, if you have them a material that is naturally soft and focused on pop stuff they’d be perfect. But they’re a bad fit for stuff like Dr. Seuss, and Mario was fine but they could’ve used a better studio.
It was fine for what it was. The only two criticisms I can really think of that can't be excused by "Its a kids movie" is that they didn't give Luigi enough to do and the soundtrack was a bit too Pop Music heavy.
>schizo fanfic outrage thread

Its literally just grifters fishing for hate clicks and anger baiting.

It's just another movie that seems more carried to success by a recognizable IP alone instead of having to do anything standout
Shouldn't that be a picture of ATSV for this thread to make sense?
I didn't recognize the girl. Everyone else I sort of recognized but I have no idea who the woman was.
>I recognize that bulge!
I screamed and cried when thing was different.
good for you op, glad you liked the film

>Epitome of don't ask just consume
No it's isn't. That's the Spider-verse movies you're thinking of

What questions should be asked?
weak bait
That only applies to media with no merit, at least Mario is a fun watch if you turn your brain off, and doesn't come with politics
lol the shills have finally gone crazy and now make schizo threads.

This, the primary goal was to make a Mario movie that was actually a fricking Mario movie versus the slop from 1993.
Mario RPG, Mario & Luigi series and Paper Mario all at least try to make an interesting story. This movie is just a 90 minute advert.
Its a six out of ten movie with some nice set piece moments and some nice bits of classic Nintendo fanservice.
It was fine for what it was. It could’ve been a lot better without the clearly-Illumination pop music sequences, but it was enjoyable. Bowser was definitely the highlight.
Honestly Illumination would be a perfect fit for a Splatoon movie precisely because of their focus on action/slapstick and pop music.

I never watched it.
everyone knows the best part of this movie is the Peaches song and that was an entirely new thing

Was that good for you?
I usually chuckle sensibly if I think it was funny seeing the thing I recognized.
He is literally me.
I didn't like the way Bowser was characterized in this movie
Seeing him being jealous of Mario was pretty weird.
I don't like how much Donkey Kong shit is in it
Yeah yeah Mario originated in Donkey Kong but save that shit for Mario Kart Party goofy crossovers
And Smash
