In the book Faramir says something stupid like "I would not pick it up if I saw it laying by the side of the road." The movie does a better job with his character and his relationship to the ring.
Unironically, yes. Gary Stus and self inserts don't translate well to film. Give him a minor arc and the audience will forget that his role is basically that of the uncensored ramblings and opinions of Tolkien.
faramir is actually the only one, boromir did not really resist it
in the books sauron is scared SHITLESS of the idea of aragorn getting the ring because aragorn in the books is a gigachad that commands ABSOLUTE AUTHORITY in any room he's in and with the ring he might be able to literally usurp sauron
>and with the ring he might be able to literally usurp sauron
How dat homie fin uslurp Sauron when dat homie Sauron been da homie who dun made da ring in da first damn place? homie knows how to make rings and da ring don't listen to no one but him.
No you phoneposting homosexual, the ring enhances everyone's natural traits >hobbits are good sneakers so they get to turn invisible >elves are good archers so they go aimbot mode >men are good fighters so they become better fighters like the wraiths >dwarves are greedy so they become israelites
That's one of the only real flaws of the story. The ring of power was never properly shown to the audience except as a forbidden thing that nobody better touch yet if one does put it on they gain invisibility and a desire to walk back to Mordor and give it to Sauron. It would have made much more sense to have the wearer be able to give commands that anyone in hearing distance could not resist unless they were of extreme power or very pure of heart. And the wearer could still have had a very powerful desire to return the ring to Sauron and serve him after that. For that matter, Sauron didn't get enough story time either. For the big bad villain seeking to conquer Middle Earth we learn almost nothing about him. He just hates men for some nebulous reason.
>give the ring to Smaug >he hoards the ring like another random piece of gold >if Sauron shows up he'll just tell Sauron to frick off because they both report to the same boss >goes back to sleep on his pile of money
you realise smaug and the dragons were literally bred to be horses to balrogs? Theyre just superior versions of the fell beasts. dragons and maiar aren't on the same level
balrogs were literally riding dragons in the fall of gondolin lmao talk about embarrassing, dragons have impressive feats against humans but they dont have the will to go up against sauron or the balrogs
Is he the only human to ever resist the ring?
faramir does and aragorn to a lesser extent
In the book Faramir says something stupid like "I would not pick it up if I saw it laying by the side of the road." The movie does a better job with his character and his relationship to the ring.

The movies do a better job with EVERY character, actually. Tolkien's weakness for compelling characters was pretty apparent

...and there is absolutely no way they will know where I'm walking with all this snow on the ground.

and what about Orcs? Does their menu become five stars?
They are soulless so it has nothing to enhance
That's not shown to be true in any way. Just made up headcanon. ISILDUR ALSO WENT INVISIBLE. Dumbfrick.
he was part hobbit, stay mad
Dude’s dick was like a hobbit’s arm holding an apple
he wanted to be invisible because of the orc ambush
Anyone know where I can get something that does the opposite? Asking for a friend
It's called a RPG-7 and will probably cost you up to 5k.

The greatest dragon ever could btfo Sauron without trying
glaurung was literally a pet.
Pit bulls still kill their masters, quit larping as a loregay when you don't know shit
balrogs were literally riding dragons in the fall of gondolin lmao talk about embarrassing, dragons have impressive feats against humans but they dont have the will to go up against sauron or the balrogs
Nah, no dragon can destroy the one ring, stands to reason it can’t kill sauron either
lol at the blue screen, I knew they didn't film it on location
It’s green screen anon, green
No they did, his actor was even afraid to take a helicopter so he just climbed up instead.
>afraid to take a helicopter
Smart not to.
Why? It's not like John Landis was directing the movie
High altitudes and John Landis are the two biggest reasons to stay away from helicopters.
Anon, that’s called the sky.
Is lotr the only flawless movie?
yes. even the behind the scenes content puts most movies to shame
didn't viggo accompany sean bean on these hikes or am i remembering wrong?
He did, viggo liked doing outdoor stuff
If he survived and went with aragorn, gimli and legolas, would his father still be a schizo?
Gondor was still about to get fisted by Mordor's armies, so yes.
What's he looking at?
everything and nothing
god
