    >science fiction
    >inherently atheist message about religion being a tool of social control
    >romanticizes esoteric Oriental belief systems
Yeah no shit he would hate it, him and Herbert were essentially polar opposites

Tolkien wrote what was essentially a love letter to European paganism. The entirety of Sauron and his defeat can be clearly noticed as a rebuttal to the christian monotheistic and all-powerful rule of thinking.

Except the all-powerful Christian god being in LOTR is explicitly the reason the One Ring falls into Mount Doom by tripping Gollum

I would argue it is implicit in the book and made explicit by Tolkien's letters.

That and the protagonists are super human godmen, not humble halflings.

I’m not sure if Orange Catholic Zensunni Buddhism technically counts as Christianity anon.

Sure it does, even Buddists believe Jesus just achieved Zen and was just another Buddah, there is very little reason these religions couldn't come together it's what some thinkers back in Frank's time thought might happen as eastern philosophies were coming to the west. They thought the church might have to adapt Zen in some capacity, I've seen everyone from nuns to secular types writing about this but it passed. It fills in a lot of gaps in Buddism

Dune is a universe without god or religion. The author appropriates the names and costumes of various religious sects but reimagines them as secular groups pursuing purely material aims like conquest, enrichment and eugenics.

    >Brian, my son, did I ever tell you the full story of Lady Jessica? You know, the matriarch of House Atreides - descended from the manipulative Bene Gesserit! - whom I used to serialize of in Analog Science Fact & Fiction? Well what I didn't mention back then was Jessica was also totally into incest: all stern and motherly and horny like Jocasta in Oedipus Rex or what will later come to be known as the MILF subculture. In fact she looked very much like the pornographic actress Xev Bellringer who will be born 2 years after I die. Brian, I will be entrusting you with my estate. If there is ever a movie adaptation of my work you must make sure they get this Jessica right - make sure she is what the Fremen would have called a eahirat muthirat haqiqia, a real sexy b***h.

Apparently it was all because of the sandworms. Tolkein was adamant that worms should NEVER be that big, even in a book

He probably though Robert E. Howard was burning in Hell.
