It’s a 2010s period piece about a predator actually eating the rich. The movie kind of beats you over the head with its themes but it’s one of the most well shot aesthetically pleasing things I’ve seen in a while, the acting is fantastic, every scene has so much atmosphere, it’s fun it’s grotesque it’s beautiful to look at what is there not to get? You have to be pretty fricking jaded to have no reaction at all to this shit it’s at least as shocking as a Harmony Korrine movie
There’s nothing to get. I haven’t watched it btw and I’m not gonna watch it. But come on, it’s pretty clearly pozzed. I haven’t even watched a trailer or read an article about it and even I know. I have no idea what happens in it and I prefer not to, like Snow White and the Bear and the last Star Wars movie and the female Ocean’s 11 and the female Ghostbusters, it’s just one of those things they do, and I don’t have to look twice to know it’s not for me.
Unlikely they got together, he said “aren’t you married or something”. It sounds like he’s comparing Emrata to another girl that was a mistake, I’m just wondering if he meant Kstew who cheated on him with a director.
motivation of main character was underdeveloped for the rather extreme things he does in the third act. still, a pretty looking and well acted movie. writing lets it down.
He was underclass. If you were British you would understand this. Plus his mother said he constantly got into trouble because he was cleverer than everyone else. In America it's only poor vs rich.
The difference in actors is jarring, so many working class American actors can make it in the business if they are talented or attractive enough. England selects a handful of working class actors every 10 years it seems. They are almost never leading men in anything, and are limited to very specific roles.
now all the rich people who watch this movie wont let me be their friend because they will just look at me as a predator or one who is not to be trusted.
It's not likely you're going to be meeting "old Oxford family" rich people, unless you're rich yourself, mate. Anyways, there's been "poor people taking advantage of rich people" media since the dawn of class struggle, give it a year or two and you can befriend rich people again till the next big thing they release about the same subject.
im fricking sick of hearing about this FOTM spectacle shit
WOW IT'S SHOCKING AND GROTESQUE
OMG IM MESMERISED BY SOMETHING THAT ISNT LAZY FRICKING DIGITAL FILM
frick letterboxd cucks and frick cinephiles
im not going to watch some terrible FOTM pastiche
enough with your vapid spectacle
you have no respect for the spirit of cinema.
it follows the contemporary trend of hollowing out class struggle into nothing but low-mind resentment. pacifying the masses into cheering for their favourite 'eat the rich' slop
promising young women was shit genrefare too
emerald fennell has nothing to say and im disappointed at the state of film criticism where this slop is held on a pedestal
A an obsessive psycho kills people and takes what they have because he wants to be them.
I think people who think this is a movie about about class warfare are moronic.
It isn't that good, but it's good looking and is the most memorable of the winter releases.
You can be rich and still be underclass in britain. I don't understand how such a simple distinction escapes you ignorant homosexuals. If they wanted to make a distinction about only rich vs poor, they wouldn't have made us believe that the rich portrayed in the film are also upperclass and that they lived in a castle instead of some modern glass house out in scotland where english snobbery is not fashionable.
>to the tune of Bane
I hate you
You crashed my plane
Why would you watch it? I put it in and realized its for homos.
What do you not get?
It's for women. Notice how hard this gets shilled on letterboxd
You dont have to get it just "vibe" with it

It's a contemporary retelling of Gormenghast.
Also rich attractive women owe me sex and owe me my own area at their estate
I really want to know what Robert Pattinson meant by “I don’t take the same road twice” when he turned her down in disgust.
It means she either is or reminds him of a mistake he's committed once already, and he won't do it again.

Was he useful?

It’s formulaic but the presentation saves it

People think it's "rich people bad" but lowkey it's "middle-class commoners bad"
>People think it's "rich people bad"

Anon comes in screeching that it’s “poor people bad” every thread through.
