I don't get it

Is the point of the book that there's no point to the "narrative" and she's just venting and getting stuff out of her chest? it's fine if that's it but there're lots of mixed signals regarding that, specially towards the end.

yes, but they probably mean author's previous work I dunno

Heard she fricked a married man to get this book published

If it's true, this alone is more interesting than her works. It's not like it's all that rare tho, probably happens to every other author.

I wonder how it works. No way he agreed for just one time thing. So, like, "you come here every Saturday for few months and I will think about publishing your book"?
Who the hell even needs this if you can have Kickstarter, Patreon and simps from Insta/Twitter? Unless she was looking for that, ofc))

Depression can take many forms and in her case there's a certain egoistic side to it where she's self centered and she can only think about her problems and her issues and her state hence the entire punch of the book It's lonely at the center of the earth because when you're so blind to everything but your own shitty state of mind you get "protagonist syndrome" so you feel like you're the center of everything so the realization isn't that things magically fix themselves out of nowhere and you have to try hence "... but I'm trying not to live there anymore"

You're moronic, we have documentary evidence of the same set of symptoms stretching back at the very least as far as the Ancient Greeks, and has been observed in other animals as well (hamsters and guinea pigs in particular are often suicidally depressed due to neglect). It's a psychological response to having repressed or otherwise failed to address your emotions, pushing the individual to withdraw from the caveman campfire to avoid distraction and sort out their issues. Only issue is it doesn't always work properly, and so it causes spiralling, isolating behaviour where it snowballs hard.
The reason why it appears to be overrepresented in firstoids is a mix of having better tools to survive without breaking isolation - when you can order in food and other necessary supplies without ever interacting with another human face to face, that isolation is never challenged by human contact which may have instead drawn out the unaddressed emotions and resolved the depressive episode. Also unmitigated access to social media where one can scream into the void and receive artificial dopamine/serotonin for their actions, still failing to resolve the issue, but allowing them to publicly self-medicate into a slightly more functional state (even if it makes them seem like a whiny moron like the author of the graphic novel in OP).
I understand where you're coming from anon but understand that you're toeing the line of ignorance in a manner that courts repression to save face yourself, risking developing the same shitty behaviours as well. Out of everyone, it's the people who insist on not treating self-expression and mental health with any gravity who quickly plummet hardest into mental illness. You're already showing signs of it by posturing unprompted about how you don't believe in it on a mongolian potpourri smuggling forum, doing the same grandstanding self-expression you shit on firstoids for doing.
        Take care bro.

Look up Harvey Pekar's work, specifically American Splendor. He got other artists to illustrate his autobio ideas. Critically acclaimed. Even got a film adaptation out of it.
