I had a Bluey related dream the other night. Most of it was a blur.
I was watching a new episode called "Showers". Bluey was playing around in mum and dad's shower.
Bluey's little boyfriend uses a sad space narrative to work through a repressed memory where he thought his mom had left him at the playground but she was just late.
Its about the feeling of abandonment and trauma processing in/for children.
Trauma happens all the time growing up and theres little out there to help kids deal with it. Kids' brains are still developing, so lots of things that we as adults can easily handle in our day to day can really mess them up sometimes. Mckenzie being left alone for probably less than 20 minutes at such a young age in an "alien" environment that he wasnt expecting to be in; to him left a lasting impact he was too young to understand or remember clearly.
Playing pretend now that he was older and more developed helped him reconnect with his memories and work through them so he could move past the feelings left over he never properly dealt with at the time. The adults in his life probably didnt even realize it was bothering him, because he didnt realize that this event was the reason behind his feelings himself before he took the time to "explore" that path in a safe environment
I believe the show-runners have talked about how they subscribe to the idea that play time for kids can actually be important to them developing understanding. We can see this in the episode they have about the parakeet. In that episode bluey got upset that people kept trying to change what happened, because she was using play to understand her complex feelings. In space we see Mckenzie need to work through the abandonment he felt in real time so he can process it now that he's older and able.
I love how the characters have pride for their breeds >Sausage Dog Roll >Pomeranians are a small but hardy breed >Heelers are a little stumpy >Chow Chows and their fur
It’s a great representation of family/heritage pride and celebrating uniqueness without turning into a dumb race metaphor.

what breed of dog is this
which one?
Most of the Bluey cast are distinctive breeds, but I have to assume there are a lot of mutts in their world.

It's a dog for God's sake, are you breedist?
Not the anon, but I think it's some sort of terrier.
The final frontier.
