A shitty nostalgia remake of a 90s cultural phenomenon

I mean the original. I've been watching King of the Hill and quite like itso I thought I'd check out Judges other works, but what in the shit is this

        It's 90s loser-core humor.

It's one of biggest attacks on bullshit ever made, Beavis and Butthead don't give a shit about almost anything, whether it's family, school, society, working, hippies, or conservatives. All they care about is getting laid, watching music videos that don't suck, and trying to be as cool as random criminals. It's just an all-out assault against everything that "literally shaking" people on all sides of the political spectrum care about.

Don't forget they tried to bring it back around 2010 and it fell flat.

The original B&B was perfect for its time and it's a shame we can't see it with all the music videos spliced in because of licensing and royalties. Just the cartoon itself isn't as good

        >he original B&B was perfect for its time and it's a shame we can't see it with all the music videos spliced in because of licensing and royalties.
Uhh? We can. There's a torrent of every single episode.

I think paramount is trying to eventually have all the episodes with videos intact, they started out with 8 episodes and then added a bunch more.

      >A shitty nostalgia remake
The episodes where they're adults are pretty funny (e.g. the one where they accidentally pretend to be war veterans to get free booze at the VA and the boomers are dumb enough to believe them).

beavis andd butt-head is an odd choice to reboot if we're going to reanimate 90s tv. the humor wouldn't click with teenagers today. they should have rebooted daria.

I don't think that would have landed either, they don't have a coherent enough sense of humor

It was mostly to laugh at dumb music videos. Not just B&B. Like Mystery Science Theater but with morons.

It's a comedy show where you have two dumb as rocks teenagers interact with realistic situations and people. Their only goal in life is to get laid but they have no idea how to do that or anything else. Many people try to help them, but they can't accept that they're hopeless and even dangerous.

Yep, almost every other comedy that I can think of either is weakened by having a message or weakened by taking too long to get to the funny stuff (which is fine on first watch but hurts rewatchability). Beavis and Butthead has no message other than the id and has little filler so is re-watchable.

It was a wrapper, a psyop to get people to sit on their sofas and watch music videos like movies or TV shows. The videos themselves were an attempt at mass marketing a MKUltra-lite, but the experiment didn't last long because it wasn't a form of programming that most people found entertaining.

I think Mike judge just liked riffing whenever he had the chance and since it was an mtv show they had the library of music videos, it’s logical without being sinister imo. You are just using dramatic buzzwords for the idea of brand synergy and easy content.

yes, basically it was MTV's MST3K, but for music videos. There are some pretty ridiculous and pretentious music videos out there that deserve to be made fun of.

Hate to break it to you, once a music video was on Beavis and Butthead they had pretty much hit peak mainstream.

There's something pretty astounding about how a single drawing can become a cultural phenomenon. Seriously, you just need to look at one still of Beavis and Butthead on the couch to instantly know what the show is about. It's grotesque but strangely realistic. We've all known a Beavis and Butthead.

The originals are good but the reboot mostly sucks. I really enjoy the "Old Beavis and Butthead" episodes of the reboot a lot more than the other ones. I don't care enough to look it up, but I suspect those episodes have different writers. The idea of Butthead being obese and on disability is hilarious.
