I don't get it, why did Neo let himself get absorbed by Smith? If it was part of some plan, why did he even bother fighting him then?

He made a choice.
>If it was part of some plan, why did he even bother fighting him then?
Bad writing
Remember how in the first Matrix, Smith absorbed him which led to a piece of Smith combining with Neo and a piece of Neo combining with Smith, which allowed both of them to break free from the control of the Matrix and also allowed Neo to see Smith outside of the Matrix and Smith to find Neo? Well by letting Smith absorb him he could once again infect Smith, and by extension the rest of the Matrix that he had taken over, with his entire self since had has been reborn as The One since the previous melding.
The fight was to make Smith not realize that this was his plan, if he just walked up to Smith and said "absorb me" then he wouldnt have done it / would have been suspicious, if he makes Smith think he won the fight then he'll absorb him fully without hesitation.
You people should try thinking for once.
>The fight was to make Smith not realize that this was his plan, if he just walked up to Smith and said "absorb me" then he wouldnt have done it / would have been suspicious, if he makes Smith think he won the fight then he'll absorb him fully without hesitation.
bullshit, Smith tried to absorb him before all he has to do is stand there and he'll absorb him again.
It was just a trans allegory like
and
none of that happened in the first matrix moron and it's all obvious shit that everyone knows, the trannies have no subtlety (what a shock). in the first neo diving into smith represented him gaining root access and deleting smith from the matrix file server hence why the other agents leg it like rabbits (which with the sequel retcon makes zero sense)
top kek this brown kid is super addicted to this website now. thats gold, hope they continue fricking up their life.
who you callin brown, homosexual
If he offered himself to Smith, Smith would not have taken the bait. By fighting him and losing Neo lured Smith into the trap, because Smith thought he had won.
he didn't know he should lose until after he realizes the one he was fighting was the Oracle. He was never planning to be bait from the start.
because no refunds and you'll never be a woman.
you'd think after seeing a dbz fight in a matrix movie you'd realize the watchouchskis are creatively bankrupt
it's funny how the bad dbz fight is the least shit part of the movie
They had ascended to godhood by that time how do you expect them to fight?
Smith represents the multiplying power of evil. "I am legion" a definition of the demonic in the New Testament. Demon comes from the Greek word for dividing. By contrast Neo represents oneness which is a divine attribute.
>Isaiah 54:16
>Behold, I have created the smith who blows the fire of coals and produces a weapon for its purpose. I have also created the ravager to destroy.
It's a metaphor for how a trans person fights with their identity before realizing that the only move is to accept it.
It's called bad writing.
The bigger question is why Smith fell for that trick. If he doesn't absorb neo hes fine. Still don't understand why the machines didn't just reboot via the source when Neo rocked up. That would've made more sense instead sending Neo in their to fight Smith.
what happens to people that get absorbed by smith? do they die?
I think they still exist in the mmo game's canon but it seems like they would die given bane's brain turns into a smith copy
its smith-oracle he fights and that's why he's ambivalent on infecting neo, he knows he's going to do it but can't resist because writing bad
>If you can't beat them, join them
Basically, Neo was tired of being on the losing side. And this was Smith picking him to be on the winning team and Neo seeing his boyhood fantasy come true:" He was picked last, but he was the most important and vital to the team."
When you realize who it's written by, it makes sense.
Jesus/Vishnu allegory at display again.
iirc he only realizes that particular Smith is the Oracle once he starts saying her lines, which is a quote from the Upanishads, and then understands that he has to let go.
>then understands that he has to let go
why? How does he know letting himself lose would make him win?
For frick's sake you people are stupid.
Neo entered the fight attempting to beat him, genuinely trying to win, and he continually got is ass handed to him. It was only when Smith recited to Neo the line the Oracle told him earlier does Neo realise that he has to die to win.
Smith is a rogue program, an exile, who was supposed to report to the machine mainframe for deletion when he was beaten in the first movie but he didn't. Neo enters the Matrix directly by plugging into the Deus Ex Machina (the mainframe) and so when Smith takes over his body, he is directly linked to the mainframe and is deleted. Neo enters the fight to brawl and loses, and wins when he starts thinking instead.
then why didn't the mainframe just tell him that from the beginning?
This is the only correct answer. When Neo went into the fight, he didn't have a clear plan or know how he was going to win against a matrix full of Smiths, only that he had to fight, to resist, to stick to his choice of not giving up. It was only when Smith repeated the Oracle's line that Neo realised how he could actually win, and that fighting/resisting Smith directly wasn't the way to beat him.
>when Smith repeated the Oracle's line that Neo realised how he could actually win
fricking how? How did he know that
>everything that has a beginning has an end
means "let yourself get absorbed?
>Everything that has a beginning has an end. I see the end coming.(...) and you are all that stands in his way.
It's the end of Neo's arc started in the first movie, where he denies destiny. This is him surrendering himself, as he says, "to the inevitable".
Outside of the universe, this is meta by the Wachowskis. The Matrix is Neo's story, and it's coming to its end.
It's not fantastic writing, but it's there.
This.
Something something Neo isn't 'the one', Smith is by virtue of being the 'anomaly' and destroying the matrix by absorbing everyone and not wanting to be deleted. Something something Neo is actually keeping the cycle of new 'ones' intact by going into the matrix via the mainframe and destroying smith.
I might be wrong though, but that's what I think off the top of my head.
>Removes a bullet from your chest
>I don't get it, why did Neo let himself get absorbed by Smith? If it was part of some plan, why did he even bother fighting him then?
He had the "Smith anti-virus" code in him, which was encoded by the Machines. Neo himself was a part of the "Matrix" program.
He realized he had to do it to let the Machines gain direct access to Smith's program and hit "delete". He died in the process but it defeated Smith.
SPEAK
when Smith copied Neo he encountered a div by 0 resulting in NaN causing the matrix to crash.
Neo is an anagram for "one".
that fricking dog took two biscuts
you fricking snitch
He only ate one, he gave the first for his bro with the toy
it's a reference to Christ taking the power of evil onto himself and extinguishing it.
>If it was part of some plan, why did he even bother fighting him then?
that represents evil's tendency to fall by the intoxication of its own power and pride. Tolkien does the same thing with Frodo and Gollum.
If your plan was to beat Smith by letting him "think" he absorbed you (and then explode from within him) probably the stupidest thing you could do is start the fight with "Hey Smith, come over and absorb me." Smith is smart enough to see that would be a huge trap. Neo had to soften him up and make him think that the absorption was a "surprise".
Frick, as I'm typing this I know realize I either got baited or you are dumber than a box of fricking rocks if you needed that explained to you.
>Smith goes on a diatribe about how pointless, meaningless, illogical, futile and absolutely without reason Neo's continuing to fight him is, so why is he still doing it?
>Cos I wanna, lol
>REEEEEEEEEEEEE
Smith = Virus
Neo = Kaspersky
Hero's journey requires the hero to appear to be defeated for a second or two before triumphantly returning to win
ITT: fank wank
all the Matrix films bar the first are mightily moronic
you can NOT justify the amount of fist fighting that takes place in matrix sequels after Neo's entire arc in the first movie was seeing the world as data, achieving zen, and being able to reprogram the matrix with his mind at will.
>B-but b-blah blah but -
just stop okay
