Britian was THE global superpower for centuries and had a hand in fricking up several counties, including what eventually became the USA

It’s partly because modern India owes its existence to Britain; they had to drag it kicking and screaming into the modern era, and too many vital aspects of society in India today are directly because Britain made them. Just as the ultranationalist pajeet can’t accept ancient Indian civilization came from anywhere but India (ie just came into existence) they can’t accept in their minds that the British modernized the country.

They can’t let the British go because they have nothing else.

Being colonized is the only identity they have on the global stage

If the empire never happened nobody would see them as anything but street shitters living in huts

Because modern India is a British invention. They were hundred of small states with their own monarchies, institutions, languages, and religions before the Raj lumped them into the catch-all category of Brown.

Yeah like why didn’t they make the jab by saying something like “here is where the Mumbai Museum has all the stolen stuff from Britain” or some shit. Like those “in Soviet Russia, X blanks Y” jokes.

For some reason I find only black people joke about role reversal (like that meme of MLK smiling down from heaven while a black guy whips white people slaving on cotton fields). No idea why other groups don't seem to do it.

Then make a “and here’s where the (insert thing Britain stole) is… IF WE HAD ONE” dinkleberg type joke. Idk, it just made no sense in the context of the movie to copy paste the British Museum internet meme word for word like that.

Well technically they were doing better before colonization, if GDP and literacy rates were any indication. The UK intentionally undermined the indian textile industry and siphoned some 45 trillion dollars from India according to some estimates. Missionaries made a big deal about widow burning but it was statistically rare, specific to certain castes and regions and going out of fashion.

There's always a rich sense of irony whenever Americans complain about England being imperialists or thieves.

The way I figure, deep down in side every American is a deep seated self loathing that we take out on the UK. After all, we do the exact same things the British Empire did. We just don't claim to be an empire.

Even if every American was introspective enough to consider such a though, a huge chunk are 100% sincere with that rah rah 'Murica shit. People driving around with two massive flags sticking out of the bed of their pick up truck aren't doing it ironically.

It’s the same way people say the U.S. is “stolen land” when it’s literally the same situation that all humans have been doing for millennia. It’s just a way to create/perpetuate a victim narrative that milks sympathy out of the overly emotional.

You look up some of the few items that actually were "looted" and the circumstances around them and a bunch of them were because the people they fought against were utter c**ts.

      >Tiny African nation decides to imprison a party of diplomats, slaughtering all the workers and guides with them, demanding weapons so they can start a war
      >UK sends a diplomatic team to negotiate their release peacefully
      >Their king releases them
      >Their king changes his mind, imprisons both the original diplomat and the ones sent to negotiate their release.
      >Britain has had enough, sends a military unit in to free them
      >King panics, sacrifices hundreds and lines the streets with women who've been flayed and left to slowly die
      >Britain conducts a surgical strike, deposes the king and takes over his fortress
      >tries to give the fortress back to the people to help them reform their government
      >when it's clear there's no agreement on who should own it and giving it to one group would start a war, they flatten it
      >Take a few artefacts as reparations for the war crimes, then leave with no more bloodshed

Frick all the people saying that the Benin Bronzes should be given back. They were minimal compensation for removing a despot that committed an act of war before committing crimes against humanity.

Eh, that's exaggerated, the stuff the British said to justify annexation. Philip's expedition was about a palm oil embargo, he says so in his letters. The massacre was the Oba's generals thinking it was a reconnaissance mission. We don't know how many civilians died in the punitive expedition; there was human sacrifice, ironically to get forgiveness from the gods for the massacre, probably exaggerated to justify the annexation, at least going by the first hand accounts.

Indians are far worse than the British when it comes to stealing relics. Padmanabhaswamy stands testimate to that. Over one trillion USD worth of artifacts in just one of the vaults. Every people have done this. They need to shut the frick up. They want it back? Pay the value back plus full gratuity. That's how I would handle it, and then it can all get stolen or destroyed from which they can further blame White people.
