What was the point of this? It's a fine cartoon, but why start another series when your main one doesn't even has 4 full length episodes out in the 12 years it's been up?

's picrel was his testing the waters for a potential IP but his way of animating seems way too fricking obtuse for regular uploads, so everything he does basically sinks before it has a chance to flourish.

Pretty much, episode 1 was just so bleh, that most didn't bother with episode 2. Episode 2 was a bit better but my main problem is just i hate the MC. He is grating/annoying and his voice sucks, and the overall writing wise there's just not much there. It plays extremely safe and could air on tv, where as zeruel could've literally done anything instead else rating wise.

That's the thing with a passion project as we're also seeing with Starbarians. It is 100% what the creator wants, it's their vision but the consequence is that 90% of the time it's not gonna be something most other people are into.

It's better to have a BS normie/whatever friendly product you can fall back on to fund what your passion project is. Nowadays as an animator you could shit out some 10 second loop animation for tiktok or youtube shorts, get the kiddies then use whatever you get to make your true product.

I think the biggest problem with Killgar, besides being very one-note is that he comes off as a Gary Stu, like Season 1 Brock Sampson turned up to 11. He can never lose, and he can never be the butt of a joke. I can laugh at characters like Cartman or Riley Freeman cause they're moronic kids, who get their shit pushed in from time to time. With Killgar, you can always tell how the joke's going to go which makes it progressively less funny.

ultimately the curse of being an internet animator i'd say. Takes too fricking long to put out what they want and by that point it's too late for a multitude of reasons already listed in this thread.

with time i care way less for the characters for the same reason. Since this is now technically a long running show he should've put more into making the characters actually likeable or at least worth tuning in for somehow, it's waay too one note.

isn't it better for animators to be on the internet? If streaming companies will just drop them and won't let them finish their whole storyline or won't sign them up in favor of reboots or franchises, isn't the internet the best way for original ideas from animators to get out?

            >damn near impossible
To make a show commercially viable (read: possible to produce in a limited timeframe), this is what most production companies have to do on a regular basis. It usually goes from pitch to animatic, but often the pilot is a different artstyle as well. See Hazbin for an indie example and any cartoon network pitched show for a mainstream one, it's genuinely interesting to look at what shows will refine to make an artstyle look more marketable

He should've just stuck to BEES. As stupid and random as it was, it's at least meme'able.
Funnily enough Sexual-Lobster is another animator from that era who stuck to his dumb old humor, but for some reason his comedy works and feels more honest because it's not HA-HYUK LOOK AT ME HOW WHACKY IS THAT.

And their government hands out grants for folks to produce indie animation projects. Look at what happened to supermarioglitchy4.

Glitch Productions (the indie studio behind Murder Drones) was partially funded by Screen Australia, which is owned by the Australian government.

And the studio was founded by the same shitposters who made stuff like this:

Yeah, it’s called “funding for the arts” and lots of other countries who at least pretend to value culture seem to think it’s a good idea. No way in hell America will though, lol.

The government believes its important for Australians to not just grow up with foreign media
The US already has huge cultural influence so it doesn't really matter, like how Quebec protect their language with actual regulations but Anglos don't. For now anyway

now this is complete conjecture but I wouldn't be surprised if Harry grew up (and probably still is like this) thinking he was funnier than he actually was because all his friends hung out with him for being a rich kid.
Like of course his humor's not good, he's probably able to say something like "Pokemon is dogfights lol" and his friends will laugh for like 5 minutes to keep the gravy train rolling.

I think it'd be good for him if he started making short 15 second cartoons with really good punchlines.

Would be perfect for TikTok or viral Twitter memes/YouTube Shorts. There's an advantage to making short-form content that gets straight to the point.

If he does do that, he'll get more views, but I'm uncertain if he'll get any serious revenue. YouTube shorts give you pennies and it's uncertain how many viewers will stick around to watch his longform vids. How's he going to fund big cartoons?

Why doesn't this homosexual just make porn? God, animators are stupid, the money is RIGHT. THERE.
        >duurr but I gotta keep a clean reputation

You have to really, really be horny to animate porn well.
Animated porn needs to be really good to not be cringey shit
Actually putting in work on porn animation for hours makes you tired of it or at least, not aroused the entire time.

he is one of the most talented 2D animators online
that said, his original content is so dull both Starbarians and Trilby Dogtooth writing wise just aren't good enough to justify massive gaps of production for episodes
I hope he does whatever he's happiest doing and I'll still watch anything he'll put out it's just meh

I think it would be better if he focused on making a movie instead of a series. Even if it takes just as long to animate, at least with a movie you can sit down and plot out the story one and done.

Personally I was never interested in starbarians. It's always kinda awkward when a creator you like has a passion project you have absolutely zero interest in. I want him to succeed but goddamn do I not wanna watch this stuff. And I wonder how many people feel the same.

Honestly, youtube as an animator really isn't all that viable in terms of $. Even the meat horror guy had to go the fan funding route because of how much stuff kept getting demonetized for obscure unexplained reasons. I have a now dead youtube channel with 300k+ subs that lost its adsense for unexplained reasons (albeit i can use it to advertise my future stuff at least), and focusing on making a game i can sell instead. That's where my animation talent should've been going all along.

    HappyHarry's a great animator, but he needs a writer/director.
