> I don't know...

> I don't know... puberty is a little scary for me.

Pete Docter (who came up with the story and directed Pixar's Inside Out), during an interview back in 2015, about a possible sequel to Inside Out.

Inside Out 2 is set to start pre-production on 2024, with a new director (Kelsey Mann, a man), and the same screenwriter as the first movie, Meg LeFauve (a woman).

Turning Red already touched on themes about puberty / coming-of-age.
Is there anything new that an Inside Out 2 can talk about, regarding Riley?

Inside out was perfect, probably my favorite Pixar movie, idk if I like Soul more though they're both really great.
I don't see any need for a sequel. I guess having things that normalize women's sexuality and puberty is good, but turning red did that recently a lot more subtly than a movie about the emotions in your head could ever do, and people still hated turning red for even attempting to have themes of female puberty

      >Inside out was perfect, probably my favorite Pixar movie
A Bug's Life is still my favorite, but I do name Inside Out as Pixar's "coziest" movie (the easiest to fall asleep to, out of it being so relaxing to watch, in a good way).

I suppose Inside Out 2 could have Riley be older than 13...

Like have it be set in a stage of life after Mei's.

But still I don't really plan on watching it because most of the cast of the original won't be returning.

First love and loss. What happens when all five emotions fire in Riley's brain and make a core memory? How much does Joy cloud better judgment with rose-tinted lenses? How will Riley deal with heartbreak?

Interesting. And maybe something contrasting a carefree childhood with (adult) responsibilities.

      > What happens when all five emotions fire in Riley's brain and make a core memory?
From the little it's been said, Riley will "encounter new emotions", so maybe they'll step away from the usual 5.

        >Riley will "encounter new emotions"
ah so we'll probably see some of the emotions that were cut from the first one
my guess is that one of them is hope

Being in love probably would make Riley feel more like an adult when she's way over her head. She thinks she knows better and can be out on her own but she's not ready for any of that.

What's with all these man/womanchild directors focused on reclaiming their youth with coming of age movies made for kids? When I was a kid I wanted to see cool shit, not 13 year old girls whining about how being horny is illegal

teen horniness is not a crime

Anyways I don't know but maybe I would have liked these movies when I was a teen.

I would have related to the parental conflict angle of Turning Red from a very young age but that's a personal issue.

It's because the modern woman truly fears only one kind of archetype: The Usurper

Inside Out 2 should be about Riley's parents putting her on puberty blockers and it ends with sadness taking over and her killing herself

    Oh grow up.

I just think Inside Out is a widely liked movie. I mean shit, look at all the money it made, which every Cinemaphile poster knows is the final argument. I don't think a sequel is a great idea though.

    Also you forgot about Elio.

Where are you seeing these Lilo and Stitch discussions? More than Inside Out discussions.

OK so what does "fail" mean.

Other movies have made more money than Disney movies for a long time, doesn't mean much.

I'm autistic and for the longest time didn't even notice I was going through puberty. I was too focused on Warhammer to care about it.

Eh puberty for boys is basically just "shave and put on deodorant".

Which I neglected and I was smelly and hairy.

Had a beard as a 12 year old.
