        >What is actually bad about Kenobi?
Off the top of my head
        >creates instances in ANH that don't make any sense
        >makes Obi Wan look weak, moronic, and just a poor decision maker
        >Obi Wan is the 3rd most important character in the show behind Reva and Leia
        >more female empowerment garbage
        >the show looked very cheap and generic
        >music has been garbage since Disney took over
        >horrible dialog and writing at times
It was a shit show. It's weird how they had Boba Fett stay on Tattooine, when he should have left. But they Obi Wan leave Tattooine, when he should have stayed put.

          Anonymous

The disregard for canon, and token female empowerment is just by the by at this point. That's just what Star Wars is going to be under Disney. I'm past the point of caring.
I don't think they necessarily did Obi-Wan dirty. The series starts in a logical place, which is that Obi-Wan has been living as a desert hermit for ten years, his one purpose in life is to watch over and train Luke, and he can't even do that, because Owen distrusts him. And that's all from the original movie, so that's what they have to work with as a starting premise.
I guess my actual complaint is it was all just so basic and surface level. There wasn't a lot of character study of Obi-Wan, for a show that in theory should have been all about that. It was a very straightforward "tired old guy has to get back in the groove" plot.

            Anonymous

It should have been about a broken man. A defeated warrior. A guy who actually won his final battle, but the war was still lost in the end. As he lives the harsh Tattooine life he gets into situations that remind him of situations he had with Anakin when he was his padawan. We can see how he handles the situation now vs. back then. Maybe he realizes he made some mistakes as his master? Maybe he misses his old friend more than he thought he would which only make his isolation worse.
Oh, but instead we got the adventures of Kid Leia and black chick.

The reviews have better entertainment value than the Kenobi series, though admittedly, that's not saying much. Besides, the review wasn't really that positive, it's more like a series of backhanded compliments and the main reason they were accepting of it was their low expectations and the general apathy they have towards current Star Wars nowadays.

The problem is Mike clearly thinks Jay is pretentious and compensates by over praising shitty content he knows Jay doesn't like to appear less snobbish. He's always hand waving Jays complaints and taking the "but I enjoyed it" stance, something young Mike would never have done. Meanwhile Jay is such a pussy gay that he is completely incapable of defending his opinions against this, and he's constantly walking back his criticisms. Rich is just a fricking nerd with no taste, so his presence almost never matters outside of making Jay even less confident in his opinions when both Mike and Rich disagree with him.

Rich has always been the stereotypical internet nerd who will hate things for completely arbitrary reasons. Jay has always been a hipster who lives ironically shitty movies and arthouse.

I think too Rich and Mike are actual friends - they grew up together - where as Jay is the friend Mike wanted to have but they realized they weren't very much alike in real life.

Kind of a sad dynamic because Jay literally can't do anything else with his life as he probably has no skills other than armature editing. Though - he's had time to learn any trade he wanted.

Its odd he hasn't tried to bank his minor fame to get a job.

He tried to go to screen junkies but the boss there (dan harmon? weinstein? dan schneider? forgot his name but same kind as these) wanted him to do 'tributes' in a sick way like personal space invasion to the max and Jay said no. Jay was blushing hard because the dude thought that's what he did at RLM too

You can clearly tell that these guys only have an indirect appreciation for movies, and that their primary motivation for investing so much time into it is their obsession with their favorite childhood movies. They spent their entire youth arguing about trashy blockbusters on forums, and probably only learned more about the technical aspects and history of making movies for the sake of winning forum arguments.

      Anonymous

      >youth arguing about trashy blockbusters

That might have appeal if they could actually say something interesting, but they almost never do. Their level of commentary on movies is only marginally better than that of the people they ridiculed with the nerd crew.

Their earlier stuff was entertaining, firstly because it was very in depth in a dorky kind of way (the way they would hyper dissect a particular frame in a Star Trek movie, or whatever), and secondly because it had internet edge, back when internet edge was actually a thing that hadn't been finger-wagged and censored to death.

everyone is expected to sell out on youtube anymore. if someone makes videos, expect sponsorships. if someone gets sponsorships, the majority of they comments will be congratulatory. every video is just long enough for the double ad roll, or long enough for their sponsor contract. all caps in the video title, maybe even red arrows. just know, if someone is making an effort to upload, the end goal is money, is sucking your soul out through 15 seconds of ads.

the sellouts aren't even good, they're not even professional. they don't hold a consistent schedule, their positivity isn't passable. they advertise bad products. their lack of ideas and passion is obvious.

this is only going to get worse. more people growing up every day who watch youtube videos for 5hrs a day, so their only thought on a career is "I wanna make youtube videos". no thought as to what to express, or why they want other people to see what they see. the end goal is production borne of a lack of creativity. it will get worse. the algorithm which rules the views number will get more stringent. hollow doesn't even begin to describe it.

    >why are Luke and Leia important?

do they even like Star Wars? seems like they're only fond of Empire and that's it

That is kind of poorly explained. Either it's because they carry the bloodline of the chosen one, or it's because they're the only force sensitives left alive into the OT era, except both of those points are arguably not canon, depending on which canon, or who you ask.

Leia is de facto political leader of the rebellion after her planet/father gets blown up.
Luke is important because he's supposed to be the last jedi (heh) but the EU even before disney shat all over that concept.

Maybe next time write a coherent long form story / script and film it in a reasonable time frame so that 30+ years later you're not trying to make chicken salad out of chicken shit with your toys sales film franchise. Gen-X is to blame for this nonsense. Any potential for a coherent Luke and Leia story never existed. George just wants to sell kids toys.

Reboot Star Wars, get competent writers to do right by characters and create an internal world logic so shit is not duct-taped on after the fact. Alternately, just abandon the Lucas era and craft something new better written and with more consistent rule set.

No it isn't. They will just never flesh out anything truely interesting in the setting because everything needs to be easy to translate and convey on an international market. There can't be a deep exploration of anything let alone anything our society faces. It's there excuse to keep making entertainment dumber, it's easier to translate consistently and visual references can be lazier and more overt/universal.

as to why that isn't possible.

im genuinely, unironically upset that they will apathetically watch kenobi, but are probably not going to check out Strange New Worlds, even tho its been getting positive feedback, because it wasn't thier idea to watch it first. Im also upset they will not have an episode on The Batman, even if they fricking watched the fricking Marble movie and then ALL THE FRICKING SPIDER MAN MOVIES THEY MISSED LEADING UP TO IT. but no batman.

Look at those eyes. Those dead, cold, black eyes. Those are the eyes of a morally bankrupt degenerate. A soulless, heartless husk of deviance and perversion. He probably needs multiple hard drives to store all the kink porn on his computer. And the fetishes? Don't get me started. Pedophilia, necrophilia, bestiality, S&M, scat. You name it, he's it. """People""" like him have no sense of right and wrong. They indulge their sick fancies at every opportunity and think nothing of it. How he hasn't been caught in some CP sting operation or Chris Hansen show is beyond me.

I’ve avoided their Star Trek and Star Wars videos for the longest time, Star Trek because they’re all really fricking boring and Star Wars because they say the same shit over and over. But when I got curious and watched their recent Picard video it was just them crying over and over saying “why?” or “what’s the point?” for 50 minutes. It wasn’t even funny, more pathetic and embarrassing. That’s probably every Picard video they’ve done and it baffles me they still do it. Their patreon is doing pretty well, I don’t understand watching and talking about a series they’ve been crying about over and over even if they get payed for it.

I'm convinced you're the same homosexual with this argument every thread. The reason a lot of the people started watching RLM in the first place was because plinkett. Please give me the mental gymnastics routine you used to conclude the reason people are hating them now is because we loved the prequels? Are you fricking stupid? The prequels sucked. The Disney shit is somehow even worse yet RLM are sucking disney dick. Do you not grasp this you brain dead homosexual?
