It just seems very forced and stupid and the line just lays there like a hot turd. It seems like Farto was just hellbent on having some sort of body language for that scene even if it was stupid. Otherwise if he was being sarcastic wouldn't he say something like hey I'll be right back. I'm gonna go get the world's largest violin and okay it just for the waitresses. I think Farto came up with that himself and he just thought it was so cool. When he's really just a banana face dork.

And doesn't this movie pretty obviously take place in Los Angeles? He should've said "Oh I'm sorry, let me go get LA's finest violinist to play just for the waitresses." That actually would've been funnier and help the plot with the location and make a possible talking point with audiences about who that would be. But instead we get Buscemi rubbing his fingers together like we're supposed to be just absolutely fascinated.

I became friends with someone a while back. Eventually we'd go out to eat everyone now and again at some nice places and notice he didn't tip and I'd kind of poke fun at him for it. I sent him this video unironically to gauge his reaction. I haven't gone out to eat with him since I'm pretty much picking up the tipping tab for him and it makes me look bad going out to eat with him.

I am a Euro so the concept of tipping is insane to me. Yes, people here tip but it's so meager it barely counts and like let's say 14 people are in a cafe about only 3 or 4 will tip about 1 or 2 euros. The fact people give upward of 5 dollars to some waiter just for bringing over their meals or drink is insane to me.

Again I saw that under the sun the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, nor bread to the wise, nor riches to the intelligent, nor favor to those with knowledge, but time and chance happen to them all.
I have also seen this example of wisdom under the sun, and it seemed great to me. There was a little city with few men in it, and a great king came against it and besieged it, building great siegeworks against it. But there was found in it a poor, wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city. Yet no one remembered that poor man. But I say that wisdom is better than might, though the poor man’s wisdom is despised and his words are not heard.

The words of the wise heard in quiet are better than the shouting of a ruler among fools. Wisdom is better than weapons of war, but one sinner destroys much good.

Some people happen to like the job, and it's a good job to have while you're in between and unsure of what you want out of life, why do you necessarily assume it's a humiliating thing to serve tables or to be a waiter? Depending where you work for and how good you are at it, you can make a career out of it and be paid really well. Frick off with your STEMcel degree or whatever desk job you have that allows you to be this smug and arrogant, no amount of figures will change the fact you're a repulsive human being and that your soul is rotten.

Apparently not anymore. Even remotely. Very first place I pulled up is Olive Garden and they've paid massive. "In Austin, Tx $17.25 an hour BEFORE tips which is 20% above average."

And Doordash is both legally and by definition not a real job.

          Anonymous

That's in the liberal buttsex paradise of Austin, TX, though. And their rent for the buttsex apartment is probably $3,000 a month.
The United States federal government requires a wage of at least $2.13 per hour be paid to employees who receive at least $30 per month in tips. If wages and tips do not equal the federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour during any week, the employer is required to increase cash wages to compensate.

The hell it is. $1,500 gets you a completely decent place here. I pay less than that. And my rent actually just went down.

The fact you would even quote that says how little experience you have with this. The federal minimum wage is $7.25. In 2008 it fricking $5.15. Can you even remotely imagine? No one else could either because no one gave a frick. People haven't paid attention to that in decades.

Besides, not all waiters deserve a tip, anyway.

What irks me is the moronic “I go to a restaurant and see a 30$ price tag, but end up paying 45$ instead” bullshit culture Americans have, because apparently including taxes and service in the tag is too much math for lardoids.

    >I don't work because society says i have to...alright i'll work if i'm about to starve to death, if im really about to be out on the street...but working automatically - that's for the birds...far as i'm concerned it's just a waste of time.
    >Hey this offer is nice.
    >It's ok...but it's not anything special.
    >What's special? Let you jerk off and shitpost on the clock?
    >I'd work overtime for that...

      >Ok look - imagine you're working at this place for a long time, 8 hours a day - this would give me 8 free hours out of 16, when i live i want at least 12 of my waking hours to be my own.
      >12 hours...well what if the company needs to make more fricking money?
      >"More fricking money" shouldn't be in this company's vocabulary.
      >Excuse me Mr.NEET, but the last thing you need is more free time.
      >Jesus Christ, i mean these executives aren't starving to death. They make yacht owning wage. You know i had a sailboat, and i wasn't lucky enough to have wagies working overtime to help me pay it off.
      >You don't care that NEETS need wagies to live?
      >You know what this is? It's the world's smallest violin playing just for the wagies.
      >You don't have any idea what you're talking about. We wagies bust our ass. This is a hard life.
      >So is working at Auschwitz, but you don't feel the need to glorify that, do you? Well why not, they're busting their ass. But society says - don't glorify this forced labor over here - glorify these wagies over here. That's bullshit.
      >Being a wagie is the #1 way of life for males of your age group in this country. It's the one thing basically any man has to do to make a living on. The reason you get to be a NEET is because of their work.
      >Frick all that...
      >Jesus Christ!
      >I mean i'm not sorry the government taxes their income so i can play videogames all day. That's fricked up. But it's their fault. I mean it would appear gibs are one of the many ways the government wastes wagie money on a regular basis. I mean you show me a piece of paper that says the government shouldn't spend 2 trillion a year on Israel and i'll sign it, put it to a vote - i'll vote for it, but i won't do is play ball. And this hard work bullshit you're giving me i got 2 words for ya - back to cagie wagie, because if you're expecting me to help out with the bosses yacht payment you're in for a big fricking surprise.

I did this when I traveled to America. I never once tipped and the few times I was confronted about it I was acting mega confused using a super thick heavy Swedish accent acting like tipping was the single most stupid idea ever and wondering why they are begging me for money after I paid them.

        >they actually confront you
        >it's actually considered normal for waiters to confront you about giving handouts to them
        Death to America.

I did this a few times when the service was shit and the waiters looked pissed. Like they legitimately believe it's your duty to pay them something that's considered an extra in the civilized world. And they have zero etiquette knowledge too. Like I don't expect waiters at the Olive Garden to know all the proper manners, but when I go to an expensive restaurant, I expect well-trained staff.
        >they rudely interrupt you all the time asking you if the food is good even if you're in a middle of a conversation
        >they don't have salad forks despite giving you a salad knife for some reason and I got asked to take the fricking fork off my plate a few times because the lazy c**ts didn't want to replace my cutlery like they are supposed to
        >they rudely give you the bill at the end of your meal without you ever asking them for it, basically telling you to frick off from the premises. Then they get visually pissed when we asked for something like a coffee/dessert/digestif and spent the extra 30 minutes of OUR time enjoying ourselves
        >they don't know cutlery indicators for when you're done with your meal. I would have my fork and knife handles on the table and the c**ts would pester me 2-3 times per meal as to whether I'm done with my food. And then when I put my cutlery on the plate with the handles facing right, clearly indicating that I'm done, they ask you once again like total morons.
        >had a few cases when the waiter started pouring wine into everyone's glasses before the tasting was done
very clear that the country never had any aristocracy to speak of. Just bougie hillbillies who obsess over money, but all come off as nouveau riche even if they're millionaires.

You should tip because waitstaff depend on tips, but also, American tipping culture sucks and needs reformed.
