this girl doesn't appeal to black women, only the extremely autistic ones. Nothing about Asha appeals to your average black girl. Also only 12% of America is black and much of the rest of the world hates black people openly, so I don't know what Disney was trying to accomplish or who this movie was meant to appeal to. It seems their strategy is to force feed us slop and assume we'll eat it no matter how little appeal it has.

No he claimed he was the younger brother of Jesus. His weird chinese-Christian cult swelled into the biggest civil war rebellion in history and the war killed around 12 million people. The weirdest part about it was when the chinese government begged western outposts to help them quell the rebellion and the europeans agreed. So when the christian chinks tried to approach the british fort expecting fellow christian friends, they got shot instead. Cultists were ordered not to return fire because Hong Xiuquan thought it was all a misunderstanding.

I think for sure the 7 diversity hires were meant to be Asha's crew from wish but they had to backtrack and damage control after Zegler killed the movie by being unlikable and everyone mocked the 7 diversity hires who are the LA versions of Asha's friends

This is factually how it works in people's minds. Once you understand that "woke" really just means "bad media", a lot will start making sense. People don't mind "le woke" if it is in a good quality movie, so going "b-but this GOOD MOVIE also had the same gay shit" won't make the BAD MOVIE better.

Those movies actually took place in their respective countries/cultures

They did not put a white chick protagonist in Mulan, or a white guy protagonist in Aladdin

But when it comes to western medieval historical settings, then they make it look like the demographic of LA or New York, because Disney bows to the globalists who wants to abolish countries, starting with Europe and the US.

Those comparisons don't hold water because this shit wasn't happening when Disney made Mulan and Aladdin. They chose this time period and location as inspiration specifically so they could have it be multicultural. Literally no other reason

Don't worry, though. The powers that be are going to make up for lost time. I hear the new Assassin's Creed will finally take place in Japan and the protagonist is going to be the first black guy in Japan in recorded history rather than a Japanese person

Yasuke was a real historical person.
He will be fictionalized as much as Tom Cruise in Last Samurai obviously and about as accurate.

I know he was real which is why I said he was the first black guy in Japan in recorded history

And yeah, he's going to be made something other than what he really was, but Asscreed isn't exactly historically accurate anyway. Not that it makes up for refusing to have a Japanese protagonist in Japan in favor of a black guy in spite of how people have been asking for Assassin's Creed Japan since the series still had numbers on the end of their titles

            >Immediately starts killing people
            Ha!
But, putting that aside, I guess they're just throwing away all the stealth mechanics? I admit the last one I played was Black Flag, but Yasuke can't really blend into a crowd when he's the only black guy in the country.

I hate when games turn to grinding. I liked the older megaman games because you just found stuff and had stuff. Then they added in pointless grinding. Grind money to unlock X's armours. Grind energy to power up Zero's elves. Grind to unlock teleportation spots in ZX.
                It never improves a game.

I mistyped, rather there was a way to grind very quickly that I think involved making custom quests to basically spam XP gain

Technically an exploit, but only one that was needed and one that was patched because they balanced the game specifically to make people purchase XP boosters in a fricking SINGLEPLAYER GAME

Zootopia was literally about racism and it made a billion dollars. Both Frozen movies were female empowerment movies that took dunks on classic traditional Disney romance stories, and both movies made a billion dollars. The Lion King live-action remake is the highest grossing animated film of all time.

      1. Zootopia was first and foremost a movie about cartoon animal people in a fictional city. The "racism" allegory is about as detached from reality as you can get.
      2. The first frozen movie was a traditional Disney film in pretty much every way, the romance subversion was quite literally a joke at their own expense that they worked into the plot.
      3. Frozen 2 was only as successful as it was thanks to the first film.
      4. My guy if you actually think the lion king remake was a good movie that people went to see for its own merits then I can't help you.

The more I think about Wish, the more pissed I get.
This is supposed to be Disney's big 100 year movie. Let that sink in, 100 years of refining the art of animation and filmmaking, and THIS is what they made. Think of all the people at Disney who have worked there in those 100 years, how many have died and will never got to see their work remembered for generations.

There is no fricking do overs for that. We get another 100 year movie from Disney, because none of us will be fricking be alive for the next one. THIS was it.

Was it really fricking worth it Disney? Was Strange World really something that needed to exist? Shouldn't you have been a little more daring and put the extra effort for once in a lifetime Disney princess movie!?

It shocks me yet it's also fitting that Disney chose such a generic concept for a film that was supposed to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the movie, like no even brought up a Mickey Mouse movie? They don't make films about him anymore despite being the mascot of the company.

Ashman and Menken as a pair really couldn't be topped when it came to the classic disney songs, but seems like disney wanted to move away from that style of song to go for more 'modern' shit that could potentially still get radio play and not sound so theatrical.

Honestly frick Lin Manuel Miranda, some of his work is okay but his lyrical style just got SO overhyped and its ruined a bunch of other musical media because of his influence. Not every song has to be rap singing.

      Anonymous

Elemental is not profitable. I'm not attacking the movie, which I thought was moderately good, and there's no denying it has legs. But Disney doesn't actually like movies that make its money over a long period, rather than in the first month.
People tend to say that the theater and the studio split the ticket sales 50/50. But that's not true through the life of the movie rental, it's just the average. Disney negotiates a higher percentage take during a movie's first few weeks, around 60 to 65%. That number goes down and begin to favor the theater as time goes on. So a movie like Elemental and Guardians of the Galaxy 3 end up earning more for theaters than the studio.
On top of that, the majority of Elemental's take comes from overseas, which is essentially another 10% deduction for the cost of foreign distribution. 10% of the money they earned in SKorea stayed in SKorea.
Add all that up plus marketing, and Elemental has not broken even. Merch sales are going to determine the ultimate success or failure of that property.
