Honestly not going to AA helped this time. I wasn't thinking about booze every single day anymore and just went about working on every other aspect of my life.
If there's one thing I find in common with successful coping, it's successfully finding a distraction
BJJ as a hobby
Not being a homosexual and finding joy in "muh next acid trip"
No time to brood and wallow
Just having a self improving, or distracting hobby
The only problem is that you may eventually have to stop the self improving habit or all distractions are gone or you become bored with them. But hopefully by the time you reach that point you’ll have gotten out of the habit of drinking, getting high, whatever.
