That is IF they did the basic writing to extrapolate what should/could have gone on based on the source material. le, Tom Flowers was known as the Bastard of Bitterbridge so he's probably Lord Caswell's son. Lady Caswell has her own sons who are much younger so she'll probably dislike having him around as a potential rival for her kids, so he was raised in Goldengrove which not only implies he's a highborn bastard but also that Thaddeus is good friends with his fellow northern Reacher Caswell. Show that during the Tyrell funeral at Highgarden with Lady Caswell scorning Tom and Thaddeus, Robert Rowan being a good friend to Tom, people wondering why Lord Caswell couldn't visit

So when news of Caswell's execution reaches Goldengrove, ideally via the Emory Hill subplot, Tom Flowers goes to Bitterbridge to inform Lady Caswell of this news and ask for the honor of leading the Caswell forces in his father's name. They have a moment where she tries to ask for forgiveness but he says something like "there's nothing to apologise for, it wasn't your sins which brought me here, I only ask to redeem my father's name".
BTW the reason I went with the emo "I hate myself for existing" thing because it'll tie in with the other subplots.
