I'll make a Webtoon. No one gives a frick about manga made by gaijins except for the French, so it is pointless to even try. Is the best path forward just posting on Webtoon and making my own site to accept donations / subscriptions?

Could always make a web novel like Worm.
worm sucks
You are free to hold that opinion. I enjoyed it.
Hey, no, you're supposed to pretend it was worth reading or the whole house of cards is going to fall apart. Uncool, man.
I think my biggest regret in life is going to be not using my younger, more free years to draw a comic version of Worm. Something about it just begs to be visualized in it's entirety.
Nice Taylor. Did you do that off other fan art or just from her description? I've been sketching recently but its just me following tutorials of characters I like on YT.
a bit from fanart, a bit from the descriptions. her face is mostly m visualization of her. I like how Karl Kerschl draws teen characters so I was trying to tap into those proportions.
Worm is so fascinating to me because it doesn't really slot into any media we'd get- it seems like a young adult novel but it gets too adult for even the most extreme ones, it's inspired by comics but not really in the formula of other standalone or new superhero universes, or their pratfalls. I can't imagine any studio funding an animated series, unfortunately. It's just too out there for anyone to commit, and it'd take a lot to get everything adapted.
I dunno who would voice Taylor but anytime I picture Lisa's smirk I see Natalie Dormer.
Agreed. I wish we could one day get a full adaptation of worm one day animated, but I doubt it’ll happen.
Not sure if it’d work better with hour long or half hour long episodes but one small change is there would definitely need to be more interludes if it was a series
Considering how adaptations are nowadays I'd be afraid to see 'Worm the animated series'.
Why are you people so obsessed with adaptations?
It's like you subconsciously hate the things you want adapted, because you well know it will diminish its value and will very probably bring negative attention, on top of it most likely getting a shit adaptation.
.. I don't hate Worm at all. I just know if it was made into an animated or live action series there would be race changing and other moronic shit. See Invincible, Castlevania, Ring of Power, House of the Blacked Dragon, Halo, MCU, DCEU, etc
I was always fascinated by how Bernie Wrightson was so driven to visualize the novel frankenstein he took 7 years to produce 50 painstakingly detailed illustrations. I wondered what book would drive me to that- and ridiculous as it may seem Worm is probably the closest to that in my mind. I don't think an adaptation is meant to improve it or supercede it, it's more like a way of showing my appreciation for the material.
Isn't the monster suppose to be handsome minus the eyes
I just want more people to like worm
Also it’s unlikely that any of the main characters of worm would get race changed since changing the races in any way would probably be seen as offensive given the presence of Nazi supervillains
Worm needed an editor so fricking much. It could have been a 8/10 but as it is now, it’s a slog to read through most of the parts and a lot of the characters, like contesa, have none of the charm that the author envisioned.
It's harder than you think to make art you don't give a shit about. But by all means try it, the art styles easy enough.
Just copy Rebecca Sugar's style and you will make millions
OP pic looks AI generated. Like every character comes from a completely different cartoon.
They do though
Chances are you're just shit and/or slow. Weekly or biweekly chapters are required to retain readership, and the art has to be good.
>and the art has to be good.
False. This is one of the biggest Webtoons out there.
this, unordinary, and lore olympus are the three biggest comics on webtoons, all with around 6 assistants working on them, but they all look so consistently ugly that it's more confusing than anything else.
No one reads Shrine comics. No one reads SaturdayAM. No one reads MangaPlus Creators (Each page viewed counts as a view). The most successful gaijin mangaka that isn't French is Whyt Manga and he has to beg people to buy his comic. He has only released 4 volumes of his series in 13 years. Making a manga outside of Japan or France is fricking moronic.
You'll make nothing but shit blog threads like this.
Shut the hell up
your motivations and priorities are in the wrong places. all this post tells me is you want to start a comic so that you don’t have to work a real job. you should start a comic so that you can flesh out a story that you want to tell, regardless if anyone reads it or not at least you were able to bring your idea to life
If you think your gonna make money with webcomics think again. You won't. I am a webcomic artist and know many of them and hardly any of them make a profit on the comic. Maybe coms on the side but that's it. You make a comic out of passion for your story not this.
You will not make money and that's ok if you are simply passionate about doing this but you seem to think that's it's a get rich quick thing and you are very very wrong.
