I guess Armond White has run out of new movies to shit on, so he has to resorted to trashing older ones for ridiculous reasons.

The review is barely comprehensible. It's mostly a rant about modern politics which has nothing to do with the movie itself.

No. White has made a fricking career around being a moron contrarian because it gets him (View)s. One of the funniest reviews he did was I think for some universally loved film and he tried to get his negative review out first but some random Irish newspaper did it and nobody cared about his. That's literally it. If a film is 9/10 good reviews, people will go and read the negative ones. Much like a product review, if every one is 5*, you go to find out what is wrong by looking at 1*'s and 2*'s.

You're a literal NPC. One thing is to dislike a popular movie, another to specifically shit on a popular film for the sake of contrarianism. Read the actual review, it's nothing but some bullshit trying to connect a movie from the 80s to modern political climate.
I myself respected White for some time, but majority of his latest reviews (both positive and negative) are nothing but trying to intepret everything from a political standpoint. And again, that includes when he praises something. He will review some hard avant-garde European film positively, but the review will still be about American politics.

BTW he also shits on Stand By Me - "an insipid piece of Stephen King nostalgia" and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

The betrayal is revisionism, like Blazing Saddles. I hate Reimer for running people's lives to the ground with his shilling the DNC Kows Best, but Armond has a stick up his ass here.

        Based armond making americans seethe.

Fairy tales used to be instructional, if they're not they're mere stories. Armond is right for once.

Except it makes even less sense in a review of a movie from over 30 years ago

How dare he break up the consensus opinion of paid reviewers? It's practically sacrilege. Armond is blasphemous.

I'm not reading all of this butthurt. Movie reviewers are literally paid to shill Disney. No need to defend their sanctity

He's never completely wrong with his analysis, but he definitely overstates issues related to his own perceptions (which he's entitled to do) and exaggerates the extent of things that are more easily overlooked to most of the audience.

I like reading his reviews but I disagree with him as much as I agree with him, and regularly enjoy films he didn't like. Still, I'd rather read his reviews that the typical gutless mainstream nothing lower than a 7 please "reviews".
