I didn't hate it. But I don't get the hype either. I thought it was silly. Pointless. Except for the remote-scene there was nothing interesting in it. I didn't care for anything in it. It was boring and had a dislikeable attitude. Felt like a waste of film, time and resources.

The only movie date I've ever been on was the American version of this movie. Make all of the assumptions, you're probably right.

It's funny that the guy tried to make a critic of audiences enjoying violence in movies, and some frickups just have fun with it.
Well Haneke knew this too. It's didactic whilst giving sadists something to fap to. Watching more of his movies creates a clearer understanding.
