I never understood the hoopla about this episode, it seemed fine to me, nothing out of the ordinary
in a show where almost every episode is a banger, the handful that are just a decent 45 minutes stick out like a sore thumb
If I remember it’s not that it’s a bad episode but I remember half way through looking up if the rapper ever comes back in the show and saw he never does, nor does this conflict. Then I was like

While watching it I was disgusted by all the mulignans in it, but more so, something just felt off about the episode, like the writers phoned it in that day. Wanting to make sure it wasn't just due to my hatred of mulignans, I looked up the episode on IMDB and it's the lowest rated one by far, I think the only one that is rated under an 8.
It's clearly filler trash, and if you can't see that, I weep for your IQ.

There's so much to dislike about it. The black characters are basically cartoons, the dialogue is mostly horrible (I like the line about Godfather 3), the Cusamano subplot is totally overbaked too. Every normal citizen is afraid of Tony for the first 9 episodes, and then he plays golf with a couple of buttoned-up types and they're asking him about hits and John Gotti without fear? And Tony glares at Cooz with contempt, but Cooz keeps leaning into the questioning afterward? Get the frick outta here.
Oh, and the hilarious montage of Hesh looking at the wall of photos which is unintentionally funny.
Its boring as frick after the first watch and the half-baked racial commentary is cringe.
All Chris episodes are kino. So L for that. But, I also skipped every single dream sequence on my rewatch and you miss nothing. So W there.

when i first watched sopranos i got so into it that i started binge watching. that coupled with a couple of weak episodes in season 4 and the columbus day which was cherry on top prompted me to drop it. tok me months to get back to it, forgot half the story, characters etc.

one ep I think isnt as bad in retrospect on my 4th or so viewing is the one with Johnny Boy's goomar because the way Tony's memory of his father and certain details disintegrate in real time all culminating in that traumatic Happy Bday Mr. President scene are all really well done, the getting money from Phil and Hesh part was odd though

Yeah when I originally watched this episode, this is what stuck out to me. Sal's character is defined by being level headed, cautious and diplomatic and in this episode he becomes some unthinking fanatical zealot just because they needed SOME character to fill the role and decided he should be the one. It felt more like an episode of the Wire than the Sopranos because they shoehorned in a PBS special about "current thing" rather than a typical filler episode.
I skip all episodes on my daily rewatch
