NOTHING in that book will be in the movie besides Paul being BTFO'd by Spacing Guild/Bene Teilaxu and Chani.

They never fight. The only conflict they even get into is at the very end but Duncan breaks through the Bene Tleilax mind conditioning and sides with Paul.

              >sides with Paul.
The Bene Tleilax was hoping for that outcome. They were trying to show that they can bring the memories of the dead back to a Ghola. Thus making the temptation to resurrect Chani more potent.

They'll add battle scenes from the jihad and then it'll be a lot of scheming and plotting. The climax where Paul sees through the eyes of his child to kill scytale with one throwing knife is one of my favorite moments in the series

The what? Sorry, I don't recall that word ever being used in Dunc1&2. The bad stuff Paul foresaw was just a dusty wasteland and a few dehydrated people.

That climax is the best part of the series. Herbert sets up 3-4 plot lines that you simply can't imagine ending in a thematically satisfying way and then BTFO you by doing it all in one fell swoop. Incredible.

Give me a quick rundown anons
It's not like i'll read the books, I just want to know

          Anonymous

It really is way too complex to summarize but I'll do my best:
          >Chani dies in childbirth.
          >Paul finally fully loses his vision due to his eyes burning out and the nature of the events limiting his oracular vision.
          >A Shapeshifter member of the conspiracy against muad'dib is threatening to kill the twins.
          >He offers to resurrect Chani (a novel ability that was unlocked by the shapeshifters within the events of the book. Duncan Idaho being resurrected was a proof of concept) in exchange for Paul abdicating, essentially, making the shapeshifters the supreme power in the Imperium.
          >The baby Leto II, born with full genetic memories like Alia was, is able to transmit his own vision into Paul, who was being ignored by the would-be assassin due to his blindness.
          >Paul, seeing himself in third person, kills the shapeshifter, sacrificing the opportunity to bring back Chani for the benefit of his lineage.

It really doesn't have the impact that it should if you don't read the book. It all leads up to it. There's many implications that are hard to explain.

I haven’t read the books in over 15 years but I do now remember this being so epic in the book. I really should go back and read the series again.

The books are not long nor are they hard to read. You don't deserve tbe pleasure of knowing the plot without reading them yourself.

It's going to be a completely different story. There's almost no action (bad for GA) except for when Paul sees the stone burner and when Alia gets horny and spars in the buff with the training mek.
Chani's drama (because now they must commit) is going to require a ton of attention which will take away from the political intrigue and the conspiracy.

So they will likely do what they did with the first movies and omit characters and shorten the timeframe. Expect it to take place DURING the Jihad. Expect Alia's role to be largely replaced by Jessica who will not be moved back to calidan. Expect most of the conspirators to be absent.

Villeneuve doesn't want to do Children or God Emperor. So it will probably end without setting up for those. It may as well not even be called Dune Messiah. This series may as well not be called Dune.

Warwick Davis would make for a perfect Bijaz. Just have him do his Leprachaun voice when Bijaz is fricking around and a more serious voice when he tries to bait Paul into accepting the Chani ghoula bargain

Consider this: do you think anyone would be able to pull it off?

As much as I respect the balls on Syfy for even attempting to adapt the first three books they still aren't aren't good adaptations (particularly Messiah and Children). They work as stories, heck, I even thing they are good on their own and liked them, but the still leave stuff out or change quite a bit. And this were people that clearly loved Dune. Imagine a soulless cashgrab mandated by a studio. I'd rather have nothing at all.

I don't remember Alia doing anything worse in Children of Dune than what Paul had already done. She's just more open about her destructive side because she is not in control of herself. But by Dune books standards, she isn't really that evil and corrupt from what I remember.
